Marcia loses her baby fat

Monday, June 4th, 2007

Marcia CrossAs we all are aware, Marcia Cross gave birth to twin girls Eden and Savannah back at the end of February.  And having been pregnant with two babies, you can imagine that Marcia put on a bit of pregnancy weight.  Still, she tried to keep things in moderation:

“I was eating for two, but really, I craved basically very nutritional foods,” she said. “I mean, I would have loved a few more vanilla milkshakes, but I knew on the other side of it that I wouldn’t want to have to spend months and months losing it. I still topped 190, so I was eating a lot. A lot.”

Do you hate her yet?   I’m trying not to, honestly.  She’s been working hard, in the meantime, to get back into shape.  She’s been working out with friends and personal trainers Bonnie Stoll and Diana Nyad of Brava Body in an effort to get her body back in shape by July 10, when she’s due back on the set for “Desperate Housewives”.  But her workouts aren’t just to get rid of her “after baby pooch”, Marcia lost quite a bit of strength while on bed rest.  So she’s been trying to tone her muscles back up again.  And you know what helps?  Having the right motivation.

“You know, I actually do feel pressure to be back, you know, looking the way I did before I left. But I don’t think it’s just for TV, because I would feel that way regardless, because I just want to be at my best,” she said. “Maybe I wouldn’t worry about being quite so thin because the camera adds those pounds.  I don’t want to lose my fitness. I’m 45. I have two babies,” she said. “I’ve got a long way to go and I want to keep in tiptop shape. There’s no magic bullet.”

Amen, Marcia.  Best of luck to you, you look fantastic already!

Doug Savant recovering from knee surgery

Friday, June 1st, 2007

Doug SavantMuch like his on-screen personna, Tom Scavo, Doug Savant had an injury.  But whereas Tom’s injury involved a pretty bad back, Doug’s involves a completely messed up knee.  Back in 1979, when he played football (I’m assuming in college) he suffered a devastating knee injury and has been living for nearly 30 years with agonizing pain as the bone in his shin rubs against the bone in his thigh.  Ouch!   He’s had several reconstructive surgeries on the knee but nothing that was able to completely solve the problem.  So he decided to go ahead and get the knee replaced at long last earlier this month. How’s the recovery going?  Pretty good, considering!  As he says, “I’m already on my feet without the use of crutches or anything.” He might not be back to football playing shape anytime soon, but let’s hope that he’s 100% soon.  Get well soon, Doug!
