Season 1 Flashback: “Guilty”

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Good morning, everyone… last time we recapped the first season Gabby got busted and Andrew hit Mama Solis. Well, now things really pick up….

Bree is desperate to protect Andrew, so she and Rex take his car to a bad area and wait for someone to take it and clear him of any responsibility in the accident. Rex isn’t sure about the plan at first, but agrees to go along with it. Bree, on the other hand, starts regretting the whole thing when Andrew makes some pretty heartless comments about Mama Solis and the accident.

Bree isn’t the only one feeling guilty right now. John says he wants to break things off with Gabby. If they hadn’t been together like that, Mama Solis would’ve have been there and gotten hit. He also reveals he’d spoken to a priest about the whole thing. Gabby is shocked and upset, later going to the man herself to make sure he won’t spill any details. He tries to convince her she needs to repent as well, but she won’t have any of it. Instead, she chooses to sooth her conscience by staying with Mama Solis a lot and helping Carlos.

Susan freaks out after finding some money and a gun in Mike’s kitchen right before they’re about to go away together for the weekend. She tries to snoop while he’s gone, but that plan backfires and they fight over it, with Susan demanding to know what’s going on. He tells her there is nothing odd going on. The money is his savings and the gun is for protection. They fight some more and she leaves. Later on, Mike decides to take a chance and says he’ll answer anything she wants to know. She tells him that he’s already told her all she needs to know and they make up.

Lynette is still popping ADD pills to get everything done and it’s catching up to her. She’s tired all the time and feeling like a loser. Finally, she goes to a doctor to get some herbal remedies that will help her sleep. Unfortunately, just as she’s taken some a bunch of kids show up for a scout meeting she’s supposed to run. So, Lynette runs upstairs to pop more pills so she can get through it. Eventually, she decides she needs a break and hands her children off to Susan. Susan, of course, is worried about the way Lynette looked and how fast she took off and tells the ladies. They all go searching for her, eventually finding her in a park. Lynette confesses everything and the other housewives comfort her by saying they don’t have it any easier than she does. No mom is perfect. Lynette seems to feel better about this.

Finally… there was a little bit with Paul as well. Convinced now that Edie was the one who wrote the note, he hires someone to “take care of her”. When the hitman finds out from Edie that she had stolen the stationary Paul saw from Martha Huber, the guy realizes he’s got the wrong woman and goes to Paul with the information, offering to take Martha out instead. Paul declines and goes to see Martha himself. Once he confronts her with the blackmail scheme, they fight a bit and Paul suddenly knocks Martha to the floor, strangling her. Once she’s dead, he wraps her body up and prepares to get rid of it.

And there you have it: Episode 8 in a nutshell. Well, I better be going now. I leave you with some great quotes, as usual, and a clip of the ending narration for the episode. Enjoy and I’ll see ya next time!

Susan: Well what? Realistically, I’ve known this guy a few weeks. I mean, he could be a hit man for the mob!
Julie: If you really think that, why are going on a trip with him?
Susan: I never get out of the house.

Julie: That’s Dad. I gotta go. Now, listen to me. No more freaking out. I need this weekend to go well.
Susan: Why do you care so much?
Julie: Because I’m gonna have a husband of my own someday, and I really don’t want you living with us.

Carlos: Face it. We’re shallow people. I mean, can our lives have any meaning if all we ever do is buy stuff?
Gabrielle: That depends on what we buy.

Carlos: Yeah, well, deals were meant to be renegotiated.
Gabrielle: Well, we’re not negotiating my uterus.

It’s a Wysteria Lane Baby Boom!

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Is there something in the water on the set of Desperate Housewives, or has art just decided to imitate life for whatever reason? One day after bringing you the news of Kyle MacLachlan’s new arrival, another Desperate Husband has announced he’s added to his family. This time, it’s our very own Carlos Solis, Ricardo Antonio Chavira.

He and his wife, Marcea Dietzel, had a little girl on the 28th, according to Entertainment Tonight and US. The baby is named Belen Elysabeth Chavira and was a little over 7 pounds. I hate to say it, but Kyle won the baby name contest…. although there is something about that spelling of Elizabeth I like. The couple also has a five-year old son and have been married for about a year now. I find it kind of funny that cast members who have had baby stories on this show are now new parents. I’m not counting Marcia, since her real-life pregnancy was written into the script. Look out, Teri, Eva and James. Y’all might be joining the baby pool soon.

Seriously, though… congrats to the new parents and best wishes for a speedy return home with their baby. It must be quite an interesting time on the Housewives set. A new timeline, new cast members and new babies to boot! Between them and Marcia, I hope there’s a good day care on set. They definitely are in need of one. Well, I’m out of here for now. In the spirit of the occasion, I leave with a youtube fan video of Gabby and Carlos adoppting baby Lily and a link to learn about baby gear. Also, here’s some tips for boosting energy for all you parents going through sleep deprivation. Enjoy!

It’s a Boy!

Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Remember when I said that there wasn’t much going on on the Lane? Well, boy was I wrong. It has been announced that a member of the cast has just welcomed a son. Yes, that’s right… Kyle MacLachlan, who plays Orson has just become a father to a newborn boy. The child was named Lyon MacLachlan and weighed in at a little over 8 pounds. Now, there’s one healthy kid! I also have to commend him and wife Desiree Gruber on the name. It’s pretty interesting and definitely much better than some of the other baby names out there.

For those of you who might find Desiree’s name familiar, she is one of the producers behind the reality show Project Runway. Kyle, meanwhile, has a movie out in addition to heading back to work on Housewives recently. It’s the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, featuring Alexis Bledel, Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera and Blake Lively as 4 friends who find a magic pair of pants that fits them all despite their different sizes. He plays the part of Peter in the movie, which is a mix of three of the books in the popular YA series.

Kyle and Desiree, Proud New Parents

Kyle and Desiree, Proud New Parents

Before I head out, I want to leave y’all with a cute picture I found. It’s of Kyle and Desiree at a Memorial Day celebration in May for Hamptons magazine. Last month, they also attended an event celebrating the new Senior West Coast Editor of Glamour magazine. It was named after Desiree and was also attended by Kyle’s Housewives castmate Nicollette Sheridan. It’s nice to see the gang supporting each other, isn’t it? Well, that’s all for now. See ya next time!

Eva Alert!

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Good morning and happy Monday! I know, I know… let’s try to forget that, huh? Anyway… I’m back to dish some more about our favorite show and maybe make that first day back at work go a little faster.

It’s overall been pretty quite on the Housewives front lately, but I do have some Eva news to report today. First off… looks like Eva has decided to be the anti-diva and take her name out of consideration for the ALMA awards. This isn’t a Kathryn Heigl moment here… Eva just wanted newcomers to be acknowledged instead. Plus, since she’s executive producer and involved in the balloting and all, she was quote as saying she felt that made her being a nominee a conflict of interest. Good for her on that. It does get tiring at times to see the same old faces up for the same awards all the time. And frankly, some people are just getting nominated on their name or show alone.

Eva Longoria-Parker and Ricardo Antonio Chavira at Beso\'s opening in March.

Eva Longoria-Parker and Ricardo Antonio Chavira at Beso's opening in March.

In other Eva news, you all remember when she opened up that restaurant called Beso? Well, apparently, it was such a success that the rumor mill has her in talks to open a branch in Las Vegas. Look out, everyone. She’s slowly moving towards world domination! Seriously, though… it’ll be interesting to see how Beso is received outside LA. I’ll keep ya posted as any new developments are announced.

Finally… TVGuide posted this interview with Kathryn Joosten. According to the description, she’s going to spill a little about the new season. Based on that and a couple comments some people on another forum made, my spoiler-phobe self decided not to watch. For the rest of you who love spoilers, enjoy!!

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. Take care and I’ll see y’all again tomorrow!

Season One Flashback: “Anything You Can Do”

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! I thought we’d jump back into recapping the first season today, so let’s get to it! The episode is called “Anything You Can Do”.

Andrew’s having problems in school and Rex and Bree get called in because of it. Rex tries to explain away everything by mentioning they’re having marital problems, but Bree argues that’s not excuse and tries to downplay everything. Rex counters and announces right then and there Bree will be getting divorce papers later on. Later on, Rex gets Andrew a car and allows Danielle to go to a modeling school. Bree feels their being spoiled and wants them to give the gifts back. Rex and the kids don’t see it that way. Bree decides to force their hands by hiring a locksmith and throwing all the kid’s stuff on the lawn. If they give back and the gifts and stay with her, she’ll give them the new keys. Danielle gives in, but Andrew refuses and goes to Rex to ask to move in. Rex won’t let him and Andrew storms off, deciding to get drunk to he can face having to kiss up to Bree to get back in the house.

Lynette, meanwhile, is popping ADHD pills to get all the stuff she needs to do done. She happens to run out just as Tom announces he wants to throw a business dinner, so she steals some from a neighbor to get through the evening. She is, by the way, a hit and practically steals the show by throwing around all kinds of great ideas. Tom is a bit upset, but they talk things through and she apologizes.

Lyennte and Bree

Over at Susan’s, she’s humiliated when her long-awaited date with Mike is cancelled due to a pretty houseguest. Edie doesn’t help matters by rubbing it in. She convinces Susan to follow Mike and his friend to a club to see what’s going on between them. When Mike sees her, Susan pretends she’s just there to ride the bull. She ends up falling off it and getting even more embarrassed. Later, she and Mike’s friend talk and she’s convinced they really are just friends. Although, the woman does drop a hint that Mike’s hiding something.

Edie actually gets quite a bit of time this episode alongside the Youngs, since she’s selling their house. She advises him to pretend like Mary Alice crawled outside to die because suicides tend to freak out buyers. Paul, meanwhile, has become convinced that Edie is the one who sent that note to Mary Alice after finding some stationary in her stuff that looks the same. He wants her taken care of.

Finally, at the Solis house, John is ready to end the whole affair cause he and Gabby never get to see each other now that Mama Solis is around. He even starts going out now and then with Danielle. Gabby doesn’t like this and convinces him to at least meet up with her one more time. Mama Solis, who has been spying, knows for sure they’re sneaking around and crashes their little rendevous with a camera. John, freaked out, chases her to get it back. Unfortunately for Mama Solis, she runs straight into the path of a car that’s being driven by a very drunk Andrew.

Gabrielle

Gabrielle

Well, there ya have it, the latest recap. Have a great weekend and I’ll see y’all again on Monday. Take care! As usual, I leave you with some of my favorite quotes…

Julie: Mom, you’re getting too dressed up.
Susan: I know, but I wanna look really sexy.
Julie: I told Mike I expect him to have you home by eleven.
Susan: Hmm. How about midnight?
Julie: All right, but no later. You know how I worry.

Edie: Wow! Get a load of you! You look so pretty. I hardly recognize you.

Edie: Hey, how was your big date?
Susan: Mike had to reschedule.
Edie: Oh. Because of the hot girl? With the suitcase? Over there? Gosh, how devastating for you.

Gabrielle: “It’s her dream, and don’t you want her to be happy?”
Bree: “No, and in the future I would appreciate you keeping your ridiculous ideas to yourself!”

Edie: “Hmm, think so? I overheard them saying they’re going to the Saddle Ranch tonight. For drinks. And dancing.”
Susan: “So friends can do that.”
Edie: “Oh my god, I just want to slap and shake you.”

Housewives (and Husbands…) In the Headlines

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Good morning, guys! It seems like the Desperate Housewives people are all over the news today. Don’t you just love pre-TV season? Before we know it, they’ll be popping up on talk shows and the like, too. Anyway… let’s start with another update on the SAG situation.

The actors are mad, and they aren’t gonna take it anymore! 31 SAG members, including our own Doug Savant, have decided they’ve had enough of the war with AFTRA and the Producer’s stalemate and they’ve decided to take action. They have called their group “Unite for Strength” and have demanded that SAG leadership allow members to vote on the deal Producers offered recently. Some, if not most of them, will also be running for positions of power in the union as well. They feel the war with AFTRA has done nothing but hurt everyone and want to get a deal finalized. The positions in question are going to be voted on by September 19th. This all comes after a talk between SAG and the Producers failed to do well… anything on July 16th. I say good luck to them and go for it! It’s about time someone puts a stop to this mess.

Teri Hatcher is among the first of the main Housewives to make the promotional rounds. Hatcher recently sat down with ET to talk about the new season of the show. She said she and Mike will be sharing custody of their son and that Susan has a more “pulled-together personality”. Sounds like we won’t be seeing Susan accidently looking herself out of the house again (or little Maynard into a moving van) and other such clumsy moves. I guess we’ll know for sure in September. Teri is also keeping busy with Band from TV. They’ll be playing again on July 26th, entertaining the crowd at a Fullerton Flyers game. Coincidently, our own James Denton is not only in the band, he owns the team! I didn’t realize that… looks like owning a sports team is a big thing in Hollywood and the Music business.

Finally… the Housewives stars are taking over TV! Lee Tergeson, who you may remember as Bree’s AA Sponsor/former love interest, has become the latest former/current cast member to join a TV show. He’ll be on an HBO series about the Irag War called Generation Kill. Congrats to him!

Getting Closer….

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Remember when I mentioned that new promo for season 5? Well, it’s finally up on youtube. If you haven’t had the chance to see it yet, check it out:

How’s that for a teaser? I know I’m looking forward to seeing the season after that. Even better, there’s a premiere date listed. The new season starts on September 28th. Only a couple months to go, fans. So what do you all think of the promo? Let me know your thoughts on that and what characters you’re most looking forward to seeing.

Speaking of Desperate Housewives, I saw a repeat of Nicollette’s episode of Punk’d the other day, and boy was she ever looking desperate. For anyone who hasn’t seen it… let me set the scene for you. Basically, Michael Bolton was the accomplice and met her for lunch. While they’re dining, a man comes up and starts telling them what a big fan is and shows off an engagement ring he’s about to give his girlfriend. She and Michael admire the ring a minute and then the man goes back to his table. At the last minute, he comes back and asks if they’ll hold the ring for him and bring it over when he pops the question because his girlfriend is also a huge fan. They agree and Michael “accidently” drops the ring after the guy walks away, knocking out the stone. Nicollete desperately tries to help him find it while the guy is waving them over. Next thing Nicollette knows, the woman is ranting and raving about her boyfriend and what a loser he is and just blaming him for the whole thing rather than Michael, who was really at fault. Nicollette tries to calm her down, but it doesn’t work. The woman “breaks up” with her would-be fiancé and leaves. Finally, a cameraman comes running in and Nicollette realizes what happened.

If there’s one thing I like about this show, it’s the insight we get into the person from how they react to their trick. Nicollette was nothing but nice and calm and tried everything she could to diffuse the situation and explain that the boyfriend was not at all at fault for the lack of a stone on her ring. Once she found out it was a joke, she took it pretty well, too. Definitely a far cry from some of the diva fits and tantrums I’ve seen happen on that show. I have to admit, I’m a little curious to see how the rest of the cast would handle a similar situation.

ALMAs Take Over Wysteria Lane

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Eva Longoria-Parker and Christian de la Fuente

Eva Longoria-Parker and Christian de la Fuente

Wysteria Lane got some Latin flavor yesterday. I’m sure y’all remember that I mentioned Eva was going to be hosting and executive producing the ALMAs again this year. Usually, when an awards ceremony is having their nominations press conference, they hold it an auditorium or some other similar place. Not the ALMAs! Yesterday, Eva and others involved in the show set up shop right on Wysteria Lane to fill the press in on what they’ve got planned this year. Here is a picture from the event. Eva is standing with actor Christian de la Fuente.

So, this is what we know: as mentioned, Eva is host and the show will take place on August 17th at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium and will air on September 12th from 8Pm to 10 PM eastern time on ABC. Besides Eva, The Black Eyed Peas, America Ferrera, Carlos Mencia, Jessica Alba and more are confirmed to be taking part in the show. They also plan to give special awards to Linda Ronstandt, Shakira and Narciso Rodriquez. From the looks of that line-up, this is going to be one hot show. I’m looking forward to seeing how Eva does as well as seeing the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira.

The ALMA awards will also kickstart the annual Hispanic Heritage Month, where the culture and contributions of the Latin Community are recognized. ALMA stands for the American Latino Media Arts Awards and means “soul” or “spirit” in Spanish. Well, that’s about it for now… are you going to be tuning in on the 17th to see our Gabby in action? Looking forward to anything specific in the show? Sound off in the comments, I’d love to know! Til next time, take care!

And So it Begins….

Monday, July 21st, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Happy Monday. I hope everyone’s ready for another week of dishing about our favorite show… I know I am! It’s that time of year again. Time for stars and producers alike to embark on press tours to talk about what their shows have in store for the fall. The Desperate Housewives cast was no exception, taking part in the Television Critics Association Press tour on the 17th.

Marc Cherry and all the ladies were on hand to answer questions. While Cherry covered some old ground (like the show ending with season 7), there were a couple of cute moments that have been quoted out there. He and co-show-runner Bob Daily, for example, talked about finally settling on moving forward five years after being too scared to tell the ladies they’d be aging 7 years. Marcia reportedly responded with a “who cares?” He also revealed that he frumped up Gabby because he wanted to show a more realistic picture of what the average woman looks like instead of everyone being glammed up all the time.

So, there ya have it. The first major press of the season. Considering ABC recently announced they’d be making promotion for the show a priority this year, you can expect to be seeing the ladies a lot very soon, along with more details of the new season. And, of course, I’ll be there to dish about it all. Before I leave for the day, I want to share some pictures from the TCA
event.

I have to say, I think Eva’s new do really suits her. What do you all think? Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments. I can’t wait to see em! Take care and see ya next time!

All The News That’s Fit to Dish…

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Hope you’re all doing well and ready for some news! There’s quite a few things to mention today.

First off…. the latest in “As the Contract Negotiations Stall”, otherwise known as the SAG/Producers negotiations. And what a Soap it’s turned out to be. As you may remember, SAG presented a counter-offer to the Producers final offer and talks broke off. Well, now the producers agreed to meet with SAG at the union’s request to hear whatever they want to say. There is a positive to this, however. No one is talking a walkout and some productions that were put on hold for fear of a strike just might start up again any time now. Is this thing ever going to get resolved? I feel like I’m watching a never-ending tennis match…

In a much more decisive move, guess who just got cast? The Scavo kids. The announcement came late yesterday. Joshua Moore is going to play oldest kid Parker, while the juvie-bound twins will be played by Charles and Max Carver. Youngest Scavo Penny will be played by Kendall Applegate. No word yet on who gets to be Maynard Delfino and Benjamin Hodge. Also up in the air is that adorable kid we saw in Gabby’s future. Word is she may be recast as some viewers felt she looked to old for the part. I’ll let you know as soon as any info comes out.

As for the other cast…. Eva Longoria has been making quite a few headlines lately. The rumor mill is saying she’s pregnant, but Eva denies this. She says any extra pounds are thanks to her part on Housewives. Apparently, Gabby really let herself go. While she’s at it, Eva also got a haircut recently to add to the frumpy new look for her character.

pollybergen.jpg

Finally…. I give you the Emmy Nominees! Polly Bergen (more on her tomorrow) and Kathryn Joosten both got nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category. The costume designers and hair stylists also got nominated for awards this year for the episode “In Buddy’s Eyes”, so there’s four in total. Sorry to see the main ladies aren’t nominated anywhere, but what can ya do? Well, I’m out of here. Take care and see ya next time!

Season 1 Flashback: Running to Stand Still

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Good morning, everyone. Ready to catch up on season 1 some more? This time, we’re gonna talk about the episode “Running to Stand Still”.

When we left The Solis house last time, Carlos’ mom had just shown up to find out whether or not Gabby is having an affair. This time, however, Gabby has an even better advantage. After Mama Solis participates in the weekly poker game, Carlos reveals that she once had a seriously gambling problem. Gabby pretends to be concerned, but later brings Mama Solis to a casino for “lunch”. Gabby then pretends like she has to rush to the mall to pick up something and they’ll eat there instead. Mama Solis refuses to leave, telling Gabby she’ll wait for her there. Gabby agrees and drives off with a smile while calling John. When she gets back, Mama Solis has charged $15,000 on Carlos’ credit card. To save her own butt, Gabby tells Juanita she’ll sell some jewelry and pay off the debt with Carlos never knowing a thing. This convinces Mama Solis that Gabby really does love Carlos and she’s not running around. Carlos is relieved to hear it and mentions telling Gabby about her gambling problem. Juanita is once again suspicious.

Lynette, meanwhile, is in a war of her own. Maisy Gibbons is in charge of the school play and wants to change the ending of “Little Red Riding Hood” because it will be too upsetting for the kids. Lynette disagrees, but Maisy won’t listen because Lynette is only taking tickets the night of the show and not doing a harder job. When Maisy suddenly needs someone to take over the costumes, Lynette volunteers and once again brings up the issue of changing the ending. The group ends up siding with her and Maisy is so upset she purposefully leaves Lynette off the program. When Lynette finds out, she challanges Maisy and the woman backs down

Susan is, of course, spending her time being nosy… a common plot for her. She knows Paul is up to something and is determined to find out what he’s hiding. She tries talking to him, but he’s not very open. Finally, she follows him one day and discovers that Paul has put Zach into a home for disturbed kids. Now, she’s really curious and enlists Julie to talk to the kid. She sets up an appointment to talk to one of the doctors as “research” for a new book. While the man is busy talking to her, Julie sneaks in and sees Zach. All she’s able to find out, however, is that whatever Zach did has to do with someone named Dana. Before he can explain, a nurse comes in and makes Julie leave. Now, Susan is even more curious.

Finally, there’s Bree. She and Rex are still seeing a counselor and it seems to be going alright. The only major issue Rex is having is their sex life. Bree is shocked and refuses to admit there’s a problem there. After a private conversation with the Doctor, Bree decides to surprise Rex at his motel room, but the mood is ruined by a burrito about to spill. Rex is so mad she couldn’t let the mess go, he tells her to leave. Later, Bree tries to get him to talk about what the real problem is, but he refuses.

Well, there you have it! Episode 6 in a nutshell. Before I go, I wanna leave you with some funny quote from the episode and a brief clip of Mama Solis and Carlos. Enjoy and I’ll see ya next time!!

Bree: I must say, I’m jealous of how much time you two spend together. My mother-in-law would never want to hang out with me all day.
Gabrielle: She sounds nice.

Dr. Goldfine: Do you have any questions?
Bree: (to Rex) Just one. How much longer is your midlife crisis going to last, because it is really starting to tick me off!

Julie: How am I supposed to blend in with a bunch of messed up teenagers?
Susan: I don’t know, Julie. You pretend to be bulimic. Gag a little. Come on, work with me here!
Julie: Mom, when this is over, we need to talk about your parenting skills.

Shopping for a “Desperate Housewife”

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Hey, everyone! If you’re reading this, you’re most likely already a fan of the show. If that’s the case…. pay attention, cause you’re gonna find some stuff to add to your wish list! For all the people who may be browsing here out of curiosity, I’m gonna tell you about some great stuff that any fan would love for a gift on those special occasions.

season4dvdcover.jpg First off…. obviously, we have the DVDs. Season 4 comes out on September 2nd and no fan is going to want to miss it- especially if that fan loved this season. Not only does it have every episode, there are plenty of cool features. They’ll go behind the scenes of the making of “Something’s Coming” from beginning to end, Chat with all the couples on the show, offer insight into the men of the town and, of course, there will be deleted scenes and bloopers. The set is going to set you back $59.99.

For the gamers among you, there are a couple of options here. First off, the “Dirty Laundry” board game. In the game, players roll the dice to collect character and secret cards. The winner is the one who can match up three characters with three secrets. At under $3, this looks like a steal to me. If you’re looking for something more hi-tech, there’s a computer game as well. This one is a bit like the Sims… you’ll get to interact with all your favorites, do some snooping and decorate, too. If you buy it off amazon, you can get it for $10.00! Not a bad deal… I may just have to snatch one up myself!

Any domestic divas out there? I’d like to draw you’re attention to this. It’s the Desperate Housewives cookbook. There are no-fail easy dishes (I need these…), quick ones, and more elegant dishes, too. There’s some to fit every character, which I think it kinda cool. This is gonna cost you about $11.00.

Finally… here’s something really cool. I love some of the fashions on the show and I’m sure I’m not alone. Imagine my surprise when I saw there’s actually an exact replica of one of the nighties worn on the show. It’s made for sizes 6-12 and costs $66.00. That is definitely a save up one.

Well, that’s about it. If you want even more merchendise, check out this post where you’ll learn about stuff that is available at the ABC store. Gotta start saving up for some of these goodies… See y’all next time with a recap. Take care!

What I See or Press Time!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Good morning! After seeing a preview last night for the new season showing the gang 5 years later, I got to thinking about what the future might hold for some other current and former residents….

Betty Applewhite is still living in Chicago and ends up meeting a famous media mogul named Karen who once lived on the Lane. Once they discover this common link, they bond over how insane everyone there is and become best buddies. Betty even gets to be on TV with her as a sidekick.

After having framed Paul for her murder, Felicia is still living it up in her quiet cabin where she regularly reads papers to keep up with what’s going on on the Lane. After finding out Paul was paroled, she hires someone to track him down and, being the crazy woman she is, follows him and continues to drive him crazy from a distance. She does such a good job, he eventually gets dragged into a mental hospital ranting about the “dead” woman who is harrassing him. Felicia is finally satisfied.

Mrs. McClusky, having had enough of the Scavo kids bad behavior, quits as their babysitter and moves to a beach house in Florida. After enduring a few hurricanes, she decides the Scavo kids are a better alternative and rushes back.

Danielle decides to cash in on her mom’s newfound fame by threatening to write a tell-all book unless Bree agrees to keep her in designer clothes and jewelry. Bree enlists Karl to go and issue yet another smackdown and Danielle drops the whole thing.

Speaking of Karl… he’s still with Ms. Perfect and continues to push Susan’s buttons and make her feel like a loser. Little Maynard miraculously has survived to see his school years despite Susan’s klutziness and has already started to assume the “Julie” role.

So what do you all think is in store for these and other characters we’ve seen over the years? Share your thoughts in the comments… I’d love to see. In other Housewives news, Marc Cherry will be participating in a panel discussion during the TCA Summer Press Tour. That will be held on the 17th at 2PM. A Desperate Houswives Panel featuring Felicity, Teri, Eva, Marcia, Nicollette, Dana and Marc will be held the same day at 5PM. As details are released, I’ll be sure to share! By the way… the Emmy nominees will be announced that same day at 5AM. Good luck to the cast!

I’ll leave you today with a look at a fan-made promo courtesy of Youtube. It’s kinda cool and should tide us over a bit until the official ones start coming out. I saw one last night and it looked good, but isn’t available anywhere. Based on it, though, I think this new season is gonna be good. The cast has obviously been hard at work to have a promo ready this fast. Well, that’s all for now. See ya next time!

Here We Go Again…

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Talk about beating a dead horse! Dana Delaney, the newest official housewife recently gave an interview where there was nothing new covered! Apparently, they actually asked her about that now-infamous Vanity Fair shoot early in the show’s run. She, of course, denied there were any issues among them now and everyone gets along fine. What I want to know is… why do people even bother asking about that anymore? Have they not seen the pictures out there of the cast being totally friendly with each other? With no new reports of tension either, I wonder why some reporters are so, excuse the pun, desperate to keep that particular one going. She also yet again discussed being the first choice for Bree and trying not to kick herself for turning it down. Either they threw about of stuff together because it was a slow news day or there is a reporter out there somewhere who seriously needs to start doing their research.

In other news, SAG and the Studios are at a stalemate right now. Apparently, the producer’s final offer was not to SAG’s liking and they spent several hours discussing the issue with no resolution. Members of the other union, AFTRA, voted to approve their separate deal with producers earlier this week. So far, everyone is still committed to working. I’ll bring you more on the story as it’s available.

Finally… let’s turn to the TV to see where you can see some of the cast while you’re waiting for new episodes. Teri Hatcher is in Tomorrow Never Dies, airing on SPIKE. She plays an ex-girlfriend of Bond who is now someone’s trophy wife. It airs on the 19th at 9:30 AM eastern. Marcia Cross, meanwhile, can be seen on Lifetime Movie Network on the 17th at 10 AM eastern. The movie is called Living in Fear and features our favorite overzealous housewife as the wife of a man who returns to his hometown after 20 years to find a whole lot of drama going on. Keep an eye out also for a young Doug Savant. He has a part in the movie Teen Wolf. That will air on the 15th at 7:45 AM eastern on AMC.

Well, that’s all for now. See you all later with more recaps!

Season 1 Flashback: “Come In, Stranger”

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

Good morning everyone!! I’d like to continue the recaps today with a quick look at the episode “Come In, Stranger”. This one starts with the Mayers. Susan and Julie are cat-sitting and can’t find the cat. Lucky for them, just as they’re switching rooms a strange man walks through and leaves, opening the door again a minute later to put the cat who had just followed him out back inside. Susan finds evidence there was a break-in and the whole Lane is freaked out. They organize a community watch and Susan gives the screwdriver she found to the cop in charge. He later asks her out, but she stops seeing him when she finds out he lied about taking the screwdriver to the crime lab. Mike is, of course, relieved to find out about that later because it was his. He had been snooping around the houses looking for a killer.

Gabrielle, meanwhile, has her hands full with her mother-in-law. Carlos invited the woman to stay without telling Gabby because he suspects she’s cheating. So now, Gabby has to try and find ways to ditch Juanita so she can see John. Juanita is so good at keeping tabs on her, Gabby has to resort to setting her up as a shoplifter to get time away from her. Mama Solis isn’t too happy and is more sure that something is going on.

While all that is going on, Bree is freaking out about being alone in the house for the first time in 17 years. Rex has moved out and the kids are going on a camping trip. She asks Rex to stay, but he refuses. She ends up finding something else to keep her busy, though. She is going to patrol the Lane as part of the neighborhood watch with Paul. When she shows up at his house to find he’s left for the day, she ends up striking up a little friendship with Zach. She even offers to cook him a big holiday-themed meal… especially when he makes a cryptic comment about his mom’s suicide. That friendship, and the fact Zach has broken into Bree’s house to decorate it for the holidays for her, leads to many fights between him and Paul throughout the episode. The one bright spot for Bree in the whole thing is, Rex finally calls and invites her to dinner.

Finally, there’s Lynette. She actually bugged me just a little in this one. She wants Bree to lie to a private school about the twins so the school will accept them. Bree argues that she doesn’t want to lie to them and ruin the good name she has there, as she hopes to get her grandkids in there someday. Lynette? Doesn’t really care. Now that the twins have pretty much been thrown out of public school, she’s desperate to avoid home schooling. Bree relents and gets them the interview. Lynette makes sure the kids are too tired to cause any trouble the day of the meeting and the kids are accepted. Assuming, of course, the Scavos will donate 15,000 to the school. Lynette talks Tom into selling his boat to get the money.

Well, that’s about it for that episode. It was a pretty good one with lots of action. It also gave us a bit more of a hint about what Mike’s up to. I’ll leave you now with some funny quotes and a youtube video. The video is actually a promo for the spanish version of that same episode. Now, I don’t know the people and characters for sure, but I believe that Carlos and Mama Solis’ spanish counterparts are in it, as well as the spanish versions of Gabby and John. Enjoy!! See ya next time!

Lynette: We need you to recommend Porter and Preston. We can’t even get an interview.
Bree: Oh, you, um, want me to recommend the twins?
Lynette: Yes. You can tell them how beautifully behaved the boys are.
Bree: So you want me to lie.
Lynette: Yeah. I thought that was understood.

Rex: Honey, I know it’s hard to hear, but the marriage counseling might not work out. You need to get used to being alone.
Bree: You’re right. That was hard to hear.
Rex: What are you doing?
Bree: That is for the kids trip.
Rex: Oh, come on. I’m, I’m staying at a motel. I haven’t had a decent meal in weeks.
Bree: Honey! The marriage counseling might not work out. You need to get used to bad cooking.

Officer Thompson: (after Susan turns him down for a date) Yeah, well, it’s just hard to rescue folks when you don’t feel good about yourself. Ah, they’ll probably all die anyway.
Susan: Okay, fine. I’ll go out with you.
Officer Thompson: Great. I’ll call you.
Susan: Now that you’ve gotten your date, you can tell me what that really means — that 907a.
Officer Thompson: Someone’s TV was playing too loud.
Susan: Well, thank God for the thin blue line.

Tom: Maybe it’s time that we look into homeschooling.
Lynette: I know you did not just say that.

Gabrielle: Oh, for God sakes, Bree, you’re a woman. Manipulate him. That’s what we do.

Susan: Mm, I got one — Kelly Halsteder. In eighth grade, she used to spit in my gym shoes.
Officer Thompson: Kelly Halsteder. Kelly Halsteder. There, look. Two DUIs, one check kiting, and an open bench warrant.
Susan: How tragic, by which I mean yay.”
