Hello again, everyone. How are y’all doing today? I hope you’re all well and ready to dish, cause I know I am. Let’s talk Eva Longoria first, shall we? There are a couple reports out there about her.
First off… apparently our Gabby has a bit of a weakness for accents. She mention of a show not long ago that she’s very upset he’s been losing his French accent, replacing it with a Texas drawl. Can’t really blame the guy, can you? I mean, they do spend quite a bit of time in Corpus Christie. How can he not be picking it up? I know I picked up an accent that still comes out once in awhile after only a couple weeks in Alabama. In other Eva news…. I guess I was right about the Housewives baby boom getting to her. There’s another report out there claiming she’s trying hard to have a baby of her own. The odd part? This came from Marc Cherry, who added Eva promised he’d be the first to know. What I want to know is… why is he talking about this instead of letting Eva do all the talking on this topic? Lord knows she’s never been too shy about it.
It’s not all fun and gossip, though. Dana Delaney’s making news for other reasons. She’s announce she’s going to be part of “Stand Up to Cancer”, airing September 5th. She said she’s getting involved because several people close to her have battled the disease and she thinks it’s time we did more to end it. Good for her! I’ll be looking forward to seeing what she does during the show. Others taking part include Balthazar Getty and America Ferrera. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all here again on Monday. Have a great weekend!!
Good morning, guys! Yesterday, there was some bad news regarding Nicollette that brought things down a little. Well, today we’ve got some happier news to discuss: casting and spoilers! Don’t worry… for the spoiler-free, all that info is going behind a cut. I’m a little annoyed, actually, cause I didn’t know there were going to be spoilers when I looked at the TV Guide article. But, since I’ve been spoiled on a few things, I figure why not share?
First… the non-spoilery stuff. The article has a picture of the new Scavo family, along with Carlos and the Solis daughters. They discuss how the twins that were cast are students at USC, and one actually hasn’t had previous acting experience. The other one were to an acting camp once attended by none other than Felicity! Cool, huh? Ricardo also discusses the story revolving around the Solis kids weight problems and how he’s a little concerned about how the girls will deal. Get the new TV Guide to see how the show is dealing with those concerns. As an added bonus, you’ll also get to see a picture of Ricardo with his real-life kids and get the details about his Monk appearance.
And now… the spoilery part. Keep reading if you want to find out what’s happening. If not… see ya next time! And now, the (more…)
Hello, out there! It’s time to dish about our favorite show again. It’s been pretty good for the Housewives cast and their fans lately. Between Ricardo and Kyle becoming fathers and all the great promos and news coming out lately, there’s been plenty to get excited about. Unfortunately, a little rain’s gotta fall once in awhile. This time, it’s on Nicollette Sheridan.
While her TV alter-ego is celebrating being a newlywed, Nicollette has called off her own engagement to Michael Bolton. The news broke yesterday via Nicollette’s publicist. Apparently, it’s an amicable thing on their part. I have to say that I’m a little shocked by this news. If you remember, I discussed her appearing on Punk’d with Michael a little while back. At the time, they seemed totally in love and happy; a great match. Of course, that was also a repeat. Still, they seemed like a cool and together couple and there hadn’t been any stories out that I remember lately hinting at any trouble.
Oddly enough, it’s not surprising at the same time. After all… isn’t there a saying out there that goes “they’re called exes for a reason”? They first got together in the early 90’s before breaking up and moving on to other relationships. She was most recently engaged to a guy named Niklas Soderblom, while he’s had plenty of high-profile girlfriends.
I say good luck to them both as they move on from here. So, what do you guys have to say? Is this surprising, not surprising? Comment and let me know. Til next time, take care!
Good morning, everyone! I thought today I would bring you something a little different. I recently got my boyfriend to watch the show and I thought I’d ask him some questions and get the male point of view about Housewives. Here is what he had to say….
Who is your least favorite character on the show and why? Susan, because she’s an idiot.
Who’s your favorite character and why? Bree is, because she’s hot and the perfect woman.
What do you think about the show jumping ahead five years? I think it’s a good idea. It’s going to open up some fresh storylines and further develop the characters.
What moment(s) on the show have been the most memorable to you? There are two of them. One is Carlos using a chainsaw while they were fighting over their divorce. Another one is Tom telling Lynette she’s going to go to work and support the family after she sabotaged his career.
What story do you wish hadn’t happened on the show? Susan having a baby.
What was your first reaction when you first heard there was a show called desperate housewives and how has that changed since you started watching it? I thought it was gonna be something like Sex in the City. Later on, I saw it’s about how women cope with daily problems.
What “jump” story are you most interested in seeing and finding out how the character got there? I wanna find out how Susan chased Mike away.
Do you think the Housewives should’ve run Edie out of town last season? No, an angry vixen is always a good plot device.
What’s one lesson you’ve learned from watching the show? Never mess with Bree.
So, there you have it: a guy’s thoughts on the show. So, come on now… I know there have to be a bunch of men who watch this show. If you’re out there, why not reply and let me know your own thoughts? I’m sure we ladies would love to hear em.
Good morning, Desperate Housewives fans. I know…. Mondays aren’t exactly anything to celebrate, usually. Still, I have something I’m sure is going to make the loss of the weekend a little easier: a new promo! Even better, it’s a promo with behind the scenes footage and series clips! Check it out… I’m including two videos here. The first will be the promo with clips and behind-the-scenes footage. The second, for those who may consider any season clips too spoilery, has just the promo that gives away absolutely nothing.
For those who can’t open it for whatever reason, let me give you a little run down. Choose to keep reading only if you are one of those who would not consider brief clips a spoiler. Basically, it’s got the housewives talking about the new “clean slate” they have with the five-year jump and their characters. This is mixed with some clips from the new season. There are a few cute lines delivered by Edie and Susan.
Edie: I have a husband now.
Susan: Whose?
Edie (to Gabrielle): What happened to you?
Gaby: I had two kids.
Edie: For what, breakfast?
Once those clips are show, they get into the real promo, which features the ladies dancing around to the song “Fever” and acting silly for the camera. This is followed by the ladies (Kathryn included) taking a bite of an apple, as the words “even juicier” come up. All the housewives look great, wearing varied red dresses and walking/dancing against a white background. It’s a nice, simple campaign that I think should leave people wanting more. Well, that’s all for now. See y’all next time with more Housewives dish. Take care!
Good morning, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well this morning and ready for some more good news about our favorite show. Remember awhile back when Desperate Housewives didn’t get much love from the Emmys? Well, that’s about to change some. Marcia Cross, Dana Delany, Felicity Huffman, Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher and Nicollette Sheridan are scheduled to take part in the show. They’ll be presenting something together during the ceremony.
There’s no word on what category or segment the girls are scheduled for, but here’s what is known. The show is going to air live on September 21st on ABC. It will be held at the NOKIA Theatre in LA and air from 8 to 11 PM eastern time. For those of you who were paying attention, that’s only one week before the new season starts. Not a bad way to kick things off, huh?
Eva and Teri have both had some awards show experience lately. Eva produced and hosted the ALMAs and Teri took part in the TV Land Awards over the show’s hiatus. Speaking of Eva at the ALMAs…. did anyone see pictures of the event? It’s insane…. she must’ve had about 10 costume changes during the night. I posted one of them yesterday. Here are a couple more:
Here’s one of my favorite dresses she wore. What can I say? I love simple black dresses. There’s a reason these never go out of style.
And this one shows Eva performing onstage during the event with Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. I love the expressions on their faces… they look like they’re having the time of their lives. Well, I’d better be going now. Catch y’all again on Monday with new news and recaps. Have a great weekend!
So, we’ve been having a lot of talk about Felicity lately on the blog. Get ready to hear one more story (I’ll move on to someone else in a minute… I promise!) Felicity recently gave an interview to the New York Daily News where she discussed how she got her part on the show. For anyone who might not know, Felicity was frazzled herself with three kids. She had gone straight from dealing with two screaming ones to her audition. She apparently looked bad enough that the producers thought she was the one right away. She adds that when she admitted some less than wonderful feelings about motherhood, many of the women around “pulled back from me as if I said ‘I eat babies’.” Nice, huh?
Now, as promised, let’s move on. This time, there’s a story out on Eva Longoria. She admits that she hates kissing scenes in her shows and movies. She hates the idea of kissing a man who’s not her husband so much, so tries to talk directors into letting her character hug someone instead. They, of course, don’t go for it. She says that her on-screen husband feels the same way about kissing scenes. Must make for some awkward moments on set. On a related note, it’s hard to believe it’s been a year now since she and Tony Parker were married. Time flies, huh?
Well, that’s about all for today. I’ll see you guys tomorrow, as always, to dish some more about our favorite show.
Good morning again!! Well, guys…. I’ve got some more good news and bad news for you. Don’t worry, though. I promise today’s bad news won’t leave you with a strong desire to take a shower. At least, it shouldn’t. Oddly enough, it also involves Felicity Huffman. Seriously…. what is she trying to do to us lately? Just kidding.
Part of the fun of a new season is all the polls and special editions of magazines that come out, and TV Guide is usually at the top of that list. This year is no exception. They even included Tom and Lynette in one of their polls. Unfortunately for their fans, it wasn’t exactly a compliment. The magazine recently ranked the Scavos as one of the worst TV couples ever. I personally think that’s a little harsh, but what can ya do? They were ranked second behind George and Izzie of Grey’s Anatomy. Ah well… you can’t win them all. I have to leave the TV Guide people with this moment, however, to disagree with them:
On the brighter side of the polls, TV Guide ranked Desperate Housewives as one of the top 10 returning shows they’re most excited about. The show beat out Gossip Girl and ER on that list. Not too bad, huh? One of the things that seems to have them so excited is the now-famous five-year jump. They think it adds mystery and I agree. Is it September yet? Another ABC show, Pushing Daisies reached the top spot on that poll.
Well, I guess that’s about all for now. Stay tuned, though, because with the new season close at hand, there’s bound to be many more polls and articles like this coming out. And, of course, I’ll be there to share as I find them. Take care and see ya next time! Don’t forget to comment and let me know what you all think.
Good morning, everyone! Well, so far no storm has wrecked havoc like the Houseiwves had to deal with so, here I am! And I’ve got something cool to share. Writer/Producer Jeff Greenstein recently gave an interview with Blogcritics Magazine, an online publication. He didn’t give away any real spoilers (and I’m glad), but he did have some cool things to say.
Apparently, he’s a science geek who reads about string theory for fun and he spent some of the interview joking about the ladies going to work in hovercrafts and Tom fighting in a robot war since they’ve jumped into the future. I was surprised to learn that Housewives is not his only job. He has a few shows in development with ABC and only spends a few days a week working on our favorite show.
Part of the reason he refused to reveal any spoilers is because he feels it lessens the impact of the story telling. He uses the fact the jump into the future was leaked as an example of that. They tried hard to keep it under wraps, but we all know that it didn’t work out that way. He added, as others have, that the jump was a great way to renew everyone from the writers to the actors creatively and give them the chance to explore new lives of the characters without waiting until season 10 (a good thing, consider Marc Cherry says 7 is it.)
He also gave us a look into the writing process, saying that last season’s Mayfair mystery was all planned out from the start of the season and they work that way most years. A small group will come up with the main story and then send two writers off to make the script come to life. Notes and re-writes follow. He described it as being a mix of the hour-show process and the sitcom process.
Well, that’s about it for now… I’ll see ya next time with much more. You can catch the full interview here. Don’t forget to check out my fellow blogger LiRa’s latest Lost news as well… Jeff mentioned the show in his interview.
Good morning, everyone!! I’ve got some good news and some disturbing news to share. Let’s start with the disturbing and get it over with, shall we? Now, I adore Felicity Huffman. I’m sure y’all can tell from some of my other posts. Well, that love has now been questioned thanks to a story she told in More magazine. (By the way… does anyone get that? Or even seen one? If you do, she’s on the new cover as well as having an interview. Any sharing if you do have it would be greatly appreciated). According to excerpts of the interview, Felicity admitted to trying on a pair of thongs that belonged to Madonna when she started the show Speed the Plow back in the late 80s.
I don’t know whether to be sick or laugh. I’m amazed she’d share that info. I think that’s something I’d keep to myself. In better news, the rest of the interview apparently has much more interesting and less disturbing content. Check it out! She looks really great on the cover picture, by the way.
In even better news, ABC is getting ready for the new season! They had announced Desperate Housewives was going to get some great promo this year, and they’re sticking with it! The website’s been redesigned with a new promo pic. I kinda like the new poster/pictures. Very simple and they all look great! My one beef is that Katherine was not included. She is, after all, part of the regular cast now and apparently going to their poker games. Ah, well. Maybe she’ll be included later on in some materials.
Well, that’s about it for now. I leave you with a promotional video from Youtube. Enjoy and see you tomorrow, storm-willing. We may or may not be getting a hurricane sometime over the next day or two.
Good morning! Well, it’s time once again to look back at the first season of the show. If you remember, last time they realized Martha was missing. Well, this week her sister shows up: Felicia Tillman. She’s not anywhere near as worried or hopeful as everyone else. She knows for a fact her sister is gone because she felt it. Edie, meanwhile, keeps trying to convince Felicia to have hope and not freak out. Felicia informs her that she is not freaking out. She doesn’t even like her sister. Edie is taken aback by that, but continues the search with help from others in the neighborhood. Sadly, the search is going to turn up a dead body at the end of the episode.
Meanwhile, Gabby is feeling the pressure of Carlos being in jail. Money is tight and all she’s able to get is some low-paying stuff showing off cars and similar things. After having to cover-up the fact she’s modeling a car from the Scavos, Gabby decides she just might need Carlos after all. She fishes the burnt passport out and calls his lawyer to start the bail process.
Over at the Scavo house, Lynette is annoyed to discover that Tom his accidently seeing the new nanny naked. Especially since he slept with her right after. Lynette insists he admit he’s got an attraction to Claire. After denying it several times, he finally gives in. They later decide to call an agency to get a new nanny.
Susan is also having some relationship problems this week. Mike has said ‟I Love You‟ and Susan isn’t sure she’s ready to say it back. It finally takes Karl admitting he still cares about her for Susan to see that she doesn’t have any lingering feelings for Karl at all, despite what Mike thinks. She then runs over to Mike’s to tell him she loves him, too.
Finally, we have the Van De Kamps. Bree is peeved about the affair and what’s to let Rex fend for himself after he is released from the hospital. The kids aren’t happy with this, and Andrew demands that Bree take care of his father or else. Bree agrees to give in, but swears that Rex is out of there the minute he’s recovered. In the meantime, she decides to go out with their pharmacist, George. This, of course, irritates Andrew and he confronts Bree over it. She then tells Andrew the truth and suddenly, he’s on Bree’s side. Bree says that she will continue to care for Rex until he’s strong enough to leave out of respect for their marriage.
Well, there you have it: Episode 11 in a nutshell. I leave you, as always with some great quotes and a clip:
Paul: “I just wanted you to know that everyone on Wisteria Lane is praying for your sister’s safe return.”
Felicia: “Oh, I seriously doubt that.”
Andrew: “You’re so selfish. You know, I’m so looking forward to the day I get to put you in a nursing home.”
Bree: “I’m sorry to disappoint you, Andrew, but my plan is to have an embolism and to die young!”
Bree: “Do me a favor, Rex. Please don’t mistake my anal retentiveness for actual affection.”
Susan: “Actually, you’re coming to the party tomorrow. And that’s the end of it.”
Mike (to himself): “That is what I get for saying ‘I love you’.”
George: “It was nice talking with you, Dr. Van de Kamp.”
Rex: “Please, you’re dating my wife! Call me Rex!”
Good morning, everyone!! I hope you’re all doing well this morning. I was browsing over at the official website today and found a quiz called “Which Housewife Are You?” I figured why not take it? I was a bit surprised by the results. According to the quiz, I’m Lynette. This is what the quiz had to say based on my answers:
You gave up a great job for this? No one really appreciates you, and yet you slog on, with very little sleep and very little thanks. Who can blame you when you occasionally lose it? Hang in there. Just lay off the Ritalin.
I was kind of expecting something more along the lines of Susan, personally. Still, thinking about it, I guess Lynette isn’t too far off. I do get harried about stuff around the house and all. I just, thankfully, don’t have a bunch of trouble making future inmates to deal with. If you want to take the quiz yourself, here’s the link. Just be sure to come back and post your results… I’d love to see how we all rate.
Since I got Lynette in the quiz, I thought I would share one of my favorite Lynette moments. It’s from this past season, when Lynette’s mom comes and slips her some brownies designed to cure Lynette’s nausea. Check it out….
For those who can’t watch it, it’s the scene where Lynette shows up to Susan’s charade party high off the brownies demonstrates how she’s a ‟charades ninja‟. Sadly, I didn’t see the rest of the clip anywhere where Lynette tries to get the gang to guess the movie ‟Hang Em High‟. Well, that’s all for now. See y’all next time with more. Take care!!
Good morning, everyone!! I hope you’re all doing well today, I know I am. It seems like lately, I keep finding Desperate Housewives connections with childhood favorites. I’m sure you all already knew Marc Cherry was part of the team behind The Golden Girls, but did you know Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria were on Tales from the Darkside and Beverly Hills, 90210 respectively? It’s true!
Marcia got in touch with her ‟dark side‟ when she guested on the series as someone who had been changed into a vampire. That doesn’t mean she was a victim on the series, though. Part of the plot involved a doctor treating an injury to her leg. She reveals to the doctor that she actually wanted to become a vampire. The thought of being young and strong forever really appealed to her character. I must say Marcia did a great job, even though the plot was extremely cheesy. I mean, since when does a vampire need help treating an injured knee? Another observation? The woman doesn’t appear to age all that much. It’s absolutely sickening! Just kidding. I searched all over for a clip to post, but to no avail. Sorry, guys! Keep checking the repeats on the Chiller Channel if you get it. If not, there’s always netflix, right?
Another recent discover was Eva’s brief camera time on an episode of 90210. Fans of the show were discussing seeing her playing a flight attendant speaking to Dylan during one of the episodes recently. I have a clip here, but beware! It appears to be in Spanish or something. If you know what they’re saying, please fill me in! I’ll give you your own guest post on the blog if you like as your reward.
The appearance happened during the last season of the series (99-2000). So, anyone else have any Desperate Housewives cast sightings to share? Comment and let me know. Maybe we can discover some new shows together. Til next time… take care!
Well, things are still not going so well for the Van de Kamps. Rex is back, but only to help with the whole situation with Andrew. Bree can’t figure out why they are still having problems. Little does she know, Rex has been sleeping with a local prostitute and telling her all about his issues with the marriage. When Maisy asks him why he doesn’t just tell Bree about the things he wants, he says she’d never agree to them and it’d hurt too much to get turned down. So, he gets what he needs elsewhere. Unfortunately for him, he has a heart attach while in the act and Bree realizes what’s going on after seeing Maisy is the one who signed him into the hosptial.
Lynette, meanwhile, is having a hard time with separation anxiety. She trusts the nanny, but she’s afraid to leave the kids and doesn’t want the nanny to be better at mothering than she is. So, she sets up a nanny camera at Bree’s suggestion to see how things are going. When she sees what a great job Claire is doing, she gets insecure and sets her up for trouble by asking her to feed the kids brussle sprouts. She takes sick joy in seeing Claire had just as hard a time getting the boys to eat them and feels better about the situation.
Over at the Solis house, Gabrielle is busy trying to find Carlos’ passport so she can get him out of jail. She gets slightly distracted, however, after discovering the government can come in and take everything until they figure out whether it was bought legally or not. In an effort to protect their stuff (especially what she bought pre-Carlos), she drags it all over to Bree’s garage. Later on, she tells Carlos about it and he feels bad about all the trouble she’s having to go through. While they’re talking, he reveals his passport, along with some papers, is hidden in a special hidden opening. He asks her to bring the passport to the lawyer and burn everything else. Gabby looks at him in shock and asks if he knows what Tanaka was up to. He just repeats the order to burn the papers.
Finally, over at Susan’s, she and Mike are excited about having a romantic weekend together. That is, until Julie informs Susan that Karl won’t be able to take her this weekend. She and Mike start making alternate plans. Unfortunately, that plan comes crashing down when she and Mike discover that Julie’s been hiding Zach. Julie begs Susan not to tell, but she and Mike agree that that’s the only thing they can do, leading Julie to get mad at Susan.
Also in this episode…. Paul plans to send Zach away again and Edie is worried about Mrs. Huber, who hasn’t been seen in awhile. Well, that’s the episode in a nutshell! I leave you with some of my favorite lines and a you tube link. Enjoy!
Julie: I’m just…really hungry. Oh, I talked to Dad today, and apparently, he and Brandi might break up.
Susan: Oh, how awful
Julie: Mom, you’re smiling.
Bree: Were you with a woman? Did you tell her that you have a wife, or does that hinder your pick-up style?
Rex: All right. Even if I was seeing someone, I have every right to. Exploring options is the whole point of being separated!
Bree: Options! I’m not a mutual fund, Rex!
Bree: As of this moment, Rex, I am no longer your wife. I am going to go out, and find the most vindictive lawyer I can find, and together, we are going to eviscerate you. I’m going to take away your money, your family, and your dignity. Do you hear me? And I am so thrilled to know that you still love me. Because I want what’s about to happen to you, to hurt as much is as humanly possible. I’m so glad you didn’t die before I got a chance to tell you that.
Many celebrities today talk about alternative fuel and other issues. They go out and attend rallies, tape public service announcements and other things to promote a cause but there are many who never take that next step. James Denton is not one of those celebrities. We already knew that he takes time out to play in Band from TV to raise money for charity. But did you know he’s also doing something major for the environment and to promote alternative energy? Yes, that’s right. A local blog featured a little interview with James in which he talked about recently buying an electric cycle.
In the article, James raved about buying a bike called Zero X. It’s light weight and runs entirely on electric power. No gas guzzlers for him! And really… who can afford one these days? He mentioned being very happy to discover that not only was it light weight, it didn’t make a lot of noise and it was actually about as powerful as any other bike. He ended up spending a lot of his time off riding his new bike through the quiet countryside of Montana and loved every minute of it by all accounts. Information on the Zero X can be found all over the internet and it will run you around 7 grand.
I’ll be interested to see how this one sells now that a star of a major show is endorsing it. I’m sure as time goes on, the cost will go down as well. In any case, it’s always cool to see a celebrity who actually not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. Well, I’m out of here for now. Have you ridden a Zero X? What do you think about James getting out there and promoting one? Feel free to comment and let me know. Til next time, take care!
