Happy Friday, everyone. Can you believe another week’s gone by already? Don’t worry…. I still got a little Desperate dish to share with you and it’s relating to Eva and Gabrielle.
First off, they’ve managed to annoy someone again. Only days after the Parent’s Television Council complained about the portrayal of marriage on TV, a writer for E! has a less serious bone to pick. She wants glamorous Gabby back. According to the article, we want to see hot people running around lying, cheating and seducing people by doing yoga in the front yard. None of this frumpy housewife stuff. They basically complain that while it’s part of the story, it’s not that much fun. I personally say bring it on! I love all the changes being made to the show and its characters. Sometimes hitting a giant reset button is the best way to get things interesting again. I know I’m excited to see exactly what’s going on with the Ladies and the other characters in the neighborhood. I’m also interested to see some of the new faces on the show and I already see a big plus to the new time line. At least now when Bree and Susan are raising 5-year-olds this season, there will be an explanation for it instead of magically aging the kids with no explanation. And really…. who wants to see Susan trying to juggle bottles and diaper bags? We’ve all seen how clumsy she can be, so that’s not a great combination!
Speaking of new faces, one more has been added to the mix: Madison Delagarza. She’s the half-sister of Camp Rock’s Demi Lavato and will be playing Juanita. You may remember we saw her played by another actress in the finale. Apparently, test audiences thought the original child was too old looking and they cast Madison instead. Well, that’s all for today. Take care everyone and I’ll see you on Monday with more!
So, I know I may be behind the curve, but I have only just recently started reading Teri Hatcher’s book “Burnt Toast and Other Philosophies of Life”. I have to say that I am enjoying in very much. It’s a bit more self-help than I was expecting, but still a very entertaining read. It isn’t all self-help, though. She also shares quite a few interesting stories about her life.
A couple stories she told in particular got my attention. One was during a section where she went into dating disasters (I’m sure most of us can relate to that). A certain guy she’d been introduced to was staying with a friend. They agreed to go on a date, but the date never happened. Not only that, he didn’t even call to cancel the date; her friend did. In his defense, he did have a good excuse: he was under arrest for fraud. Then there was a drug addict and a guy who decided to go back to his ex. Yes, she’s not shy about admitting she’s a loser magnet.
Another funny story was about taking chances. She went out with a guy who later became one of her best friends. During the course of the evening the car died and they had a hard time finding a ride home, so they jumped on a bus that ended up taking them close to an airport. Deciding to be spontaneous, they hop a flight to Vegas only to have a horrible time. Still, she was glad they did that. It was an adventure for her.
The book portrays Teri as being a very normal and fun person with a boatload of insecurity despite her fame. I think that’s something we all relate to. I recommend picking this one up… she’s a riot in it and she makes a lot of good points. It certainly shows one thing- she’s much more domestic and together than her TV counterpart.
Well, that’s all for now. See y’all next time for more dish about the ladies and men of Wysteria Lane. Take care!
Good morning again, Housewives fans. Ready for some more dish? You’re going to love this one! Now, we all know Desperate Housewives is no stranger to controversy. Nicollette Sheridan ads, anyone? Well, they’re in trouble again. I was browsing news sites and saw that the Parent’s Television Council is angry about television’s portrayal of marriage. They say that too many characters are shown having sex outside of marriage and very few married couples are “positive” examples of married couples.
The group specifically singled out our favorite formerly warring couple, Gabby and Carlos. They say they fought a lot, got divorced and only got excited about each other again while having an affair behind Edie and the Mayor’s backs. I don’t know what the people in charge of groups like this are thinking, cause it seems like they haven’t taken a close look at the couple.
Now, granted… things have been rough between Gabby and Carlos. They fight and have problems just as any other married couple would (although I doubt most break out chainsaws during a fight). Still, when it all comes down to it, they obviously love each other a lot. Gabby was there for Carlos after Mama Solis’ accident. Carlos defended Gabby when a photographer posted naked pictures of her online and Gabby is sticking with Carlos despite their changing fortunes and Carlos’ blindness.
Of course, we’re talking about the same people who thought Gilmore Girls was inappropriate as well, due to the main character having been a teen mother. So, take their opinions with a grain of salt. Where you do stand on the issue? Do you think the Parent’s Council is right or are you shaking your head in wonder alongside me? Comment and let me know! Til next time… take care! I leave you now with a Gabby/Carlos fan video. Enjoy!
Hello again! It’s time once more to dish about our favorite show and the actors. Now, I know this isn’t as exciting as all the baby news lately (although stay tuned- Eva recently said she can’t wait to have kids as well. I guess all the new Desperate kids have been getting to her), but it’s still cool. Remember Band from TV was doing a show on the 26th? Well, I’ve got some pictures to share with you. Let’s start at the beginning, huh?
Here is Teri and James outside the venue before the performance. I love this casual look they have going on and how comfortable they seem to be together. Makes me wonder how they’re going to play being warring exes.
This next picture is, obviously, Teri on stage performing a number. She wasn’t all that bad on that Idol Gives Back special and she really seems to put some passion and acting into these singing gigs with the band. She may never get a record deal and win Grammy awards, but she’s doing a respectable job of playing singer for a good cause.
Finally… this is my favorite picture of them all. James is looking great while playing that guitar and Teri is grinning ear to ear like she’s having the time of her life. Judging by this and her book (more on that another time), she seems to be a really cool person who is genuinely grateful for her second chance and is living that up while it’s here. James, meanwhile, looking totally at home being a guitar hero. It should be fun to see where this group goes from here.
The gig was held in Fullerton, California at the Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium. According to the official site, their next performance will be August 9th on the grounds of the Autry National Center in LA. California residents… get moving if you wanna see this! It’s an outdoor show and will take place at 7 PM. As you may remember, Band From TV features actors from shows such as House, Cashmere Mafia and Alias, among others. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya next time!
Good morning and happy Monday, everyone! Yeah, I know… Mondays aren’t exactly fun, but let’s take a look back at the season 1 episode “Suspicious Minds” to help us forget about the long week ahead!
As you all probably remember, Mama Solis is in the hospital and John has broken off the affair with Gabby because he feels so guilty. Well, Gabrielle is feeling a little guilty and empty herself and has decided to do something about it. She holds a fashion show to help the hospital to afford more nursing staff. John decides to volunteer to help, giving Gabby the chance to try and win him back. Unfortunately, she’s seen by Susan. Susan stops by Gabby’s house later to confront her and Gabby asks her not to tell.
Susan, meanwhile, is upset that Gabby would do something like that to Carlos after seeing what Karl’s affair did to her. She tells Gabby all her defenses are just rationalizations and walks away. Unfortunately, John’s mom overhears John and a friend talking about him messing with a hot housewife and assumes it’s Susan after seeing him talking to her one day. Helen (John’s mom) then causes a huge scene at the fashion show, destroying Susan’s dress and humiliating her. Gabby steps in and admits the affair to John’s mom. This is going to pay off in a bit, so stay tuned….
Over at the Scavo house, Lynette is desperate for a good nanny and begs Bree to give her some names of nannies her friends use so she can steal one. Bree isn’t very happy about being asked to do this, but agrees. The nanny in question is a girl named Claire, who Lynette spies on a little while at the park. After seeing how good the girl is with the kids, she approaches her and begs the girl to work for them. After offering a pretty good pay raise, Claire agrees and quits the other job.
Speaking of Bree, she is not a happy camper. Andrew is acting worse and she’s convinced that he doesn’t really care about what he did. When she catches him smoking pot in his bedroom, she demands Andrew take a urine test and takes the sample to Rex. Rex doesn’t want to do anything that would mess up Andrew’s future, making Bree angry. She tosses the pee sample at Rex and decides to take the matter into her own hands. She calls in an anonymous tip to the school after looking through his locker and finding more drugs, causing Andrew to get thrown off the team.
And now… here’s the payoff I mentioned earlier. We’re back at the Solis house and Gabrielle is considering confessing to Carlos after Helen had told her that the situation was far from over. Just as she’s about to, several cop cars show up. Gabrielle freaks out, thinking they’re coming for her. Instead, several FBI agents come in and arrest Carlos.
Also in this episode…. Julie has helped Zach bust out and is hiding him in her room, Mrs. Huber has failed to show up as planned for the fashion show and a detective is close to tracing down the origins of the box found in the lake. Well, there ya go! Episode 9 in a nutshell. Hope y’all enjoyed it and I’ll see ya next time. I leave you now a funny clip of Bree and Rex, along with some of my favorite quotes….
Edie: Crap! Crap! Crap! I’m telling you, all of the good dresses are taken. Well, what the hell am I supposed to wear?
Lynette: Well, Mrs. Huber never showed up. Why don’t you wear this one?
Edie: This is an old lady dress. You won’t even be able to see my body.
Lynette: That is so like you, Edie. You’re always thinking of others.
Lynette: All your rich friends have nannies. A-list nannies. I need to catch one–here you go–without their bosses.
Bree: Why?
Lynette: So I can poach me one.
Lynette: I will give you a 20% bump on what she is paying you, plus overtime.
(in the background, Claire’s boss can be heard yelling and being obnoxious)
Claire: I don’t take orders from your friends, I’m not a telephone answering service, and I don’t do laundry.
Lynette: Dishes?
Claire: Only the kids’.
Lynette: How fast can you pack?
Happy Friday, everyone! What a week it’s been on Wysteria Lane, huh? I just love the pre-season… it’s usually such a busy time and for the Housewives cast, it’s been crazy this week. Well, there’s another bit of info I just found out to share with you. It’s not along the lines of some of the men’s news, but it’s good and involves our own Mary Alice Young.
If you’re a fan of the show Boston Legal as well, you’re going to want to make sure you tune in this season. Brenda Strong has been signed on for a guest starring role as a judge this year, taking her in front of the camera for a change. Should be pretty interesting. Her character is being described as “sexy but tough” and the episode has reportedly already been shot. She’s no stranger to being in front of the camera, though. She’s been guest starring on shows for years now. One of her best known would probably be as Sally Sasser on Sports Night. Oddly enough, that role had her sparring with future best friend Felicity Huffman, who played Dana Whitaker.
Another cool fact about her is she’s also a yoga instructor and a fertility expert. Nothing like having something to fall back on, huh? After listening to her do the voice overs for the past 4 years, I have to say she definitely has the voice for a job like that. Well, that’s about all for now. I’ll see you guys again on Monday with more news and recaps. Until then, take care!
