Good morning, everyone!! So, I promised I was going to share some favorite quotes from the episode today and I will. First, though, I wanna know what you all thought of the episode. Feel free to comment and share your own reviews… did you like the situations they found themselves in now? Are you as disturbed as I am by the fact Edie and her husband look like they’re fraternal twins? Is Carlos right about Juanita, or do you side with Gabby (for the record- I’m in total agreement with Gabby, but I do think Carlos has a point, too. The situation has to be handled delicately to avoid Juanita have problems later on)? Do you think Susan is being way too hard on herself and Mike over the accident (I think that Susan is perfectly justified in feeling some guilt here. I just think she took it way too far… at some point, she needs to get some professional help and realize that there was neither car was at fault in this and sometimes really crappy stuff happens)?
Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis
And now… some quotes-
Bree: Andrew, dear, I’m going to take a little break. Will you tell this gentlemen that if he calls me ‘sweetie’ one more time, I’m going to grab that camera and take a picture of his colon?
Andrew (to the man, off his look): Did you get that?
Lynette (about Edie): She’s ba-ack…
Edie (to Gabrielle): What happened to you? I mean, the clothes, the hair? Carlos may be blind, that the rest of us aren’t!
Lynette (after Dave manages to get Edie to be nice and bake muffins): Please don’t take this the wrong way, but we love you.
Bree (about Katheryn accusing her of stealing her recipes for the book): Don’t be silly! I may have based a few on your recipes, but I always changed something.
Kathryn: Like what, the font?
Edie: Mrs. McClusky… you’re still alive!
Karen: It’s nice to see you, too, Edie.
Edie: This is my husband, Dave Williams.
Karen: Where’d you guys meet? Do you own a free clinic or something?
Well, that’s it for now. See y’all next time with more!! Take care.
Good morning, everyone!! Well, last night was the night and I have to say, it didn’t disappoint me. It was slightly odd to see the characters in such new situations at times, but I still enjoyed it. Let’s get down to a recap, huh? I’ll start with Lynette.
So, basically, Lynette is in a pretty similar place in her life. The twins are monsters and she can’t make them behave. They’re always getting into trouble and this time, it’s more serious. They got busted for joy riding in the past few years as well as other things. In this episode, they moved on to running a casino, using the Scavo’s pizza place as a location. When Lynette finds out, she flips and demands Tom talk to them. He ends up letting them off the hook, so Lynette tells them they can take Tom’s prize sports car to Homecoming. When the twins don’t come home in time, Tom suddenly gets the picture and realizes what Lynette meant by saying they need to get moving on teaching them how to act, cause they only have a short amount of time left. Wow… she actually clued in to that. I guess that spanking Bree gave them as kids is looking extra good now, huh Lynette?
Gabrielle is, as you remember from the finale, now a mother of two and feeling a bit unattractive. She’s almost glad Carlos is still blind and can’t see how her looks have changed over the past few years. At the same time, she is trying to get Carlos to understand that they need to do something about Juanita’s weight. It’s definitely beyond baby fat and it’s starting to make everyone on the kid’s party scene talk about how Gabby has no ability to say no to the kid. The point is especially clear when Gabby has a really hard time finding a dress that will fit Juanita for one of those parties. Carlos feels as though it’s not a big deal and she’ll likely grow out of it. In the meantime, he doesn’t wanna risk making too big an issue over it and make Juanita self concious about it. There’s a hilarious scene with Gabby tricking Juanita into doing some exercise by making Juanita chase her as she drives Juanita finally gets tired and refuses to do anymore despite Gabby’s attempts to make her keep going. Instead, Juanita gives her a “forget this” look and boards a bus close by. I could swear I saw a smug look on the kid’s face as the bus drives away. Yeah, that’s definitely Gabby’s kid.
Bree is, as you remember, a caterer who is about to release a cookbook. Kathryn becomes furious when she finds out most of the recipes are either Katheryn’s or ones they developed together. Kathryn tries to talk to Bree about it and how she’s being overworked in the catering business now that Bree is spending so much time working on the book and its promotion. Bree shrugs it all off and Kathryn finally teaches Bree a lesson by forcing her to try and create something Bree has never done before, but Kathryn has, on a TV interview. Bree almost does it, but screws it up thanks to a bracelet she’s wearing. Bree gets a chance to re-do the interview and spends quite a bit of time practicing the technique to make sure it’s perfect. Flashbacks reveal later that Danielle came back during these five years and demanded her son back. Bree tries to talk her out of it, but Danielle tells her not to try and fight this, because she’s married to a lawyer now. Bree is devestated by this. Well, at least one of her children grew and evolved into a better person…
In other news, Edie is back and married. If you didn’t watch the sneak peak I showed you, the guy is not only rich, he has Edie under his thumb. He actually gets her to be nice to the girls through most of their scenes and bake muffins, too! They do get into a fight, however, when Edie thinks that a party they threw was an “i’m sorry” thing. The girls actually meant it as more of a “we forgive you” type of event. That did not go over well with Edie. Before things get too crazy, her husband rushes in and pulls her away. He tells her she’s got to be nice and that he thinks they have a chance to be really happy in Wysteria Lane. What Edie might not know is, her new man’s been put away for anger issues before and is on meds. He’s also supposed to check in with someone once a month, but refuses to do so. The last we see of him is a flashback of him telling the doctor he’s not a danger to himself and there’s only one other person that he’d be a danger to as he looks over Wysteria Lane in the present day.
Finally… we’ve got Susan. I know you’re all dying to know what happened with her and Mike, so here it is: Several years ago, Susan was driving Mike to a dinner when another car carrying a mother and child drove right through a stop sign that had fallen down. She hits Susan’s car, causing Susan’s to turn upside down. Later flashbacks show that the mother and child died in the accident and Susan is unable to deal with it. She’s full of guilt over it and doesn’t get why Mike isn’t as upset. This leads to a fight that I assume was one of many similar ones they had and Mike leaves.
Well, there you have it: the first episode of the Season titled “You’re Gonna Love Tomorrow”. I hope you enjoyed the recap…. check back tomorrow for favorite quotes. I’ll also be picking my actor/actress of the week and other stuff this week. See ya then! I leave you with this clip from the episode of Bree and Kathryn:
Hey, everyone… how’s it going? Don’t you just love Fridays? I know I do. Especially when there’s a new Desperate Housewives season only two days away. Get ready, guys…. the reviews have been coming in and they’re overall really good. I think this is gonna be a pretty interesting season based on the sneak peaks and reviews out there. While we’re waiting, why don’t we dish a little?
Did you know there’s such a thing as the “Desperate Housewives Disease”? According to Dana Delany, there is. She says a costume designer warned her about it when she first joined the show. Apparently, it’s code for “don’t get too caught up in losing weight” since many of the people on the show have fallen into that trap and are kind of competitive about it. Dana does say, though, that Teri is very naturally thin. I have to say, this makes me a bit sad. I hope they snap out of it before it gets too out of hand and they’re having to stage 90210-like interventions. That wasn’t the only thing Dana revealed…
Did you know she was going to play Carrie on Sex and the City? She said she was offered the part by her friend Darren Star, but turned it down because it was too similar to another part that wasn’t received very well. She’s cool with it, though. She admitted that if she’d gotten the part it would’ve made it a different show that might not have made it as big. Gotta love an actress who can admit to something like that, huh?
Finally…. Eva’s made a new friend! Recent reports have announced that Eva sent a bottle of champaign to a baseball player by the name Evan Longoria to celebrate his success. He returned the favor by sending her a Tampa Bay Rays shirt. I like that. Wonder if we’re gonna see her and Tony showing up at baseball games now…
Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all Monday with our very first recap of the season.
Good morning, everyone!! Hope you’re all doing great. I have some cool stuff to share with you today. First off…. I know it’s a day late, but here’s that picture I promised from the emmys:
Looks great, doesn’t it? I love the backdrop of the whole thing. Apparently, they did that for other shows as well during the telecast. Gotta love that idea, but it didn’t do much for the show, it seems. Last I read, ratings were down a lot, pretty much the lowest numbers they’d ever gotten. Of course, they were going up against some great competition, including the Presidentialcandidates on 60 Minutes.
Speaking of good ideas, have y’all seen the new TV Guide? If so, you should. Dana, Teri and Felicity are on the main cover, while Eva, Marcia and Nicollette are on the fold out. It’s got the ladies in 50s-era looks that really suit them and I think it’s a great theme for the shoot for the series. Of course, I do wonder what’s up with Eva’s expression on the fold-out cover. If you buy it, beware of the article…. I read it and saw too late there were quite a few details about the new season. All I will say is, expect some interesting things this year from the characters. One part that seems safe enough to read is a little thing at the bottom of the last page written by Marc Cherry. He explains his reasons for the jump (which I think he may have mentioned before) and tells where he got his inspiration from. Definitely check it out, because he shows a pretty decent sense of humor in the piece. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all next time!
Hey guys! With the season premiere only 5 days away, I thought we should spend the day looking at where it all started. This time it’s episode 15. Let’s start with the Mayer family this time. Susan is thrilled when the cops ask her about the night Martha was killed and she realizes that she was with Mike at the time. She’s finally got something concrete to quite the other’s fears with. After all, the cops found Martha’s stuff at his house. That is, until the police call her in to talk some more and she finds out Mike’s got a rap sheet that includes murder and drugs. She’s furious and upset about the lies and tells him to leave her alone. Mike, meanwhile, has been trying to figure out who would set him up like that. Deidre’s father promises to use his money to keep him out of trouble so he can keep the investigation going. Julie is also having a few unsettling surprises. After sneaking out to a party while Susan’s being interviewed by the cops, Zach makes a joke that really disturbs her and she leaves the party, wondering if her mom was right to worry about him.
Bree’s also got some man trouble to deal with. This time, it involves Danielle. She and John have broken up, and Danielle thinks it’s because she won’t sleep with him. This causes her to re-think the whole abstinence thing and Bree to go see John about the issue. When Bree finds out that John is actually in love with someone else, she asks him to let her down as harshly as possible so there is no chance Danielle will think she has a shot with him at some point. Also in this episode, Susan catches Andrew with a guy at the party Julie snuck off too.
The Solises are having a tough time. It’s so bad, Carlos jumps at Justin’s offer for free gardening. What he doesn’t know is, Justin has other motives for the offer. He wants to take over all of John’s duties… including the ones that involve Gabby. Gabby refuses his advances, but he’s stubborn and threatens to tell Mr. Solis about what went on between her and John. She does him one better by arriving at the apartment he and John share, ready to tell John all about the blackmail. Justin begs her not to say anything and tells her the only reason he wanted to do anything was because he thinks he might be gay. Gabrielle actually feels a bit bad for him and kisses him, letting him know he’s “definitely gay” when he says he felt nothing. Later on, She and Carlos have a talk and realize they might have to sell the house to get out of the money mess they’re in.
Finally… the Scavos. Tom comes home, complaining about how someone else got a VP promotion ahead of him. Lynette says he needs to be more forceful, which comes back to bite her later on when the guy who got the job has a heart attack and needs to be out for four months. Later on, Tom comes home and tells her he got the job after telling the boss he’d be an idiot to hold that promotion for four months. Lynette’s surprised and happy about the news until he tells her he’s going to have to travel more. This leads to a big fight where Tom puts his foot down and tells her no matter what, he’s taking the position. Lynette decides to make a few sneaky comments about all the things Tom will miss to the boss’ wife, helping Tom to lose the promotion. This won’t be the last time she messes with his career either. Well, there you have it- episode 15 in a nutshell. I leave you with some great quotes and a scene from the episode. Later!
Bree: Well, good. But why on earth would you need a condom?
Danielle: Because I’m planning on having sex and I don’t want to get pregnant.
Bree: Danielle, you are president of the Abstinence Club.
Danielle: I wasn’t planning on running for a second term.
Tom: It’s not that. This is my hating Tim Doogan look.” (in an announcer’s voice) “Oh, Doogan connects. Look at the job-stealing bastard run. Doogan is really showing some of the glory-hounding, ass-kissing hustle that he is so well known for.
Lynette: I forgot how much fun you are when you’re bitter.
Julie: Why do you hate Zach?
Susan: I don’t hate Zach. I just think he’s sort of crazy.
Julie: Mom, I’ve heard people call you sort of crazy.
Susan: Well, I’m adorable crazy, and he’s rampage crazy.
Bree: Hello, John. I’m sorry to drop by on you, unannounced. Do you have a moment?
John: Sure. So, what can I do for you?
Bree: Well, I’ll tell you. My daughter is planning on giving you her virginity and I would consider it a personal favor if you wouldn’t take it.
Hey, everyone!! So, did anyone watch the Emmys this weekend? I didn’t get a chance to, but I did find some cute clips from the red carpet. This first one is Teri Hatcher talking with Lisa Rinna of the TVGuide Channel. Yet again, the whole cat fight issue gets mentioned (in a kind of joking way) because all 6 of the housewives were on stage during the show to present an award. Teri assured them none of that would happen. She couldn’t promise, however, no one would trip over their dresses. So what’s the verdict guys? Did she make the right dress choice? I’m saying yes. I think this yellow really works with her.
Now, we have Eva. She and Tony spoke with TV Guide as well. She talked about ending up late last time and missing the red carpet. I wonder, though why Lisa brought up the same question about them presenting. Teri already mentioned they’d all be on stage. Seems she could’ve used her time with Eva a little differently. Ah well. Speaking of things that could’ve been different… what is that dress Eva’s wearing? I don’t get it at all and she’s definitely not wearing that to combat all the pregnancy rumors still flying. Speaking of Eva… I was informed by someone that this company has designed a phone specially for Eva as an Emmy gift. It has her husband’s name and jersey number on it. Just go to the link and click on their photo galleries to see it. It’s kinda cute. Other guests got these as well, but the “Parker” one was given to her only.
Finally… Kathryn Joosten was recently interviewed about her win for best guest star and proved again why I like her so much. She refused to be considered in any other category cause she didn’t feel it would be right for her to try for anything other than guest star, as that is what her contract has her as. She also joked about how it’s a good thing she won, since now her two sons don’t have to fight over who will get her 2005 Emmy when she passes. There is one for each now. Of course, she still thinks they might disagree about who will get which one. She’s got a great sense of humor about her. Well, I guess that’s all for now. Check back tomorrow, cause I’ll be posting a cool photo of them onstage. Until then, take care!
I found this great preview on youtube of the scene they used in the sneak peak I mentioned Friday. This one is a full scene of Edie and the ladies. Beware, those of you who wanna wait until the premiere…. it’s a little spoilery about Edie, as are my comments about it. If you like spoilers, though…. carry on:
Good morning everyone!! Can you believe it’s Friday finally? Pretty soon, we’ll all be heading out of the office and off to do our own thing for a couple days. In case you need a little help getting through those last few hours, though, check this out:
The Housewives are over all TV as always in roles from before they were on the show. One of them is “Living in Fear” with Marcia Cross. She plays a woman that travels with her husband to his hometown, only to discover he’s got some secrets. But then again, this is a Lifetime movie so what else were you expecting? Seriously, though? I love these things. They’re so cheesy and bad at times, they’re good. If you wanna check it out, set those VCS or DVRs! It airs on the 22nd at 3:50 PM on Lifetime Movie Network.
Speaking of Lifetime movies… here’s a good one for you: “Baby For Sale”. It features Dana Delany in a story about a couple who end up mixed up with baby brokers. From what I remember, it’s not that old of a movie, either and is also available on DVD. It airs on Lifetime at 1PM on the 22nd.
I know Lifetime movies aren’t everyone’s thing. If you’re more a Sci-Fi fan, check out the repeats on X-Files airing on the 24th at 4PM on the Sci Fi channel. It features Felicity Huffman as a guest star. Not sure what role she’s playing, but this should be interesting.
Well, that’s it for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all again on Monday. And don’t forget, there’s only 10 more days until the Season 5 premiere on ABC. Also, the Housewives will be appearing on the Emmy Awards on the 21st. To tide you over, here’s a sneak peak that’s been released:
Felicity, Felicity, Felicity… I’m trying to maintain the love. Really, I am. But you’re making it pretty hard. I recently saw a quote from here where she repeats Eva’s “not pregnant, just fat” line. Now, I know constant rumors about females being pregnant probably get a bit annoying in Hollywood. After all, it’s a woman’s business when she decides to announce her pregnancy, or even if she makes an announcement at all. Still, wasn’t there a better answer than this? Let me repeat what I said when Eva said this before: Eva Longoria is not fat. Even with the extra weight, she’s not even in the same universe as fat. In a world where the 90210 girls are supposedly having an intervention for being way too skinny and actresses are constantly dropping pounds until they resemble skeletons, we really shouldn’t be throwing comments around like that, even as a joke. How about a simple “not pregnant and that’s the last time this is being discussed” instead, hmm? Or just don’t respond to the questions at all. That’ll really drive the reporters nuts.
Ok, I’m stepping off the soapbox now. Sorry about that… the issue just really bugs me. In better news, guess who won at the Creative Arts Emmys? Kathryn Joosten! She won the award for “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy”. Congrats to her!! She definitely deserves it. I love her portrayal of McClusky… I think she makes her more sympathetic or likeable then the character might normally be. Even in Karen’s earlier, grumpier days. Well, I guess that’s about it for now. See y’all next time with more dish about our favorite show. Take care!
Good morning! I thought I’d keep the recap thing going with a look at episode 1X14. You remember that last time, Mike has been doing some investigating for an old man who’s sick. Well, this time he ends up getting shot by a resident after breaking into their house to search for clues. He gets someone to come to his house to patch him up, but the cover-up doesn’t last long. He’s taking Susan out for Valentine’s Day at a fancy place and doesn’t want to back out because that could look suspicious. While there, a woman trips and Mike reaches out to help, opening his wound again. Susan thinks the pained look is because she told him she doesn’t want kids. When she sees the blood she freaks and an ambulance is called. Mike now has some questions to answer and I don’t just mean Susan’s!
Gabrielle, meanwhile is having trouble in the modeling world. She has gotten a reputation is the area for being a diva and it only gets worse when she’s asked to pose in skimpy clothes on a mattress to help boost the store’s mattress sales. She ends up putting up a sign that says “Don’t talk to the model” and the boss fires her. Gabrielle now has to take a job at a department store makeup counter, where she runs into the maid she was nasty to and fired. The maid is enjoying getting the chance to have Gabby serve her for a change. Gabby tries to save face by saying she’ll be back on top soon, but this is as good as it gets for her.
Over at the Scavos, Lynette is fighting with McClusky. The woman insists her boys are stealing things from her and Lynette is compelled to defend them. That is, until Tom finds a bunch of loot in the boy’s room. Now, she’s gotta apologize and make the boys do it too. While they’re there, they learn McClusky had a kid and you see an almost soft side come out in her. It doesn’t last long, though, and she sends the boys out.
Paul Young is also having to cover some stuff up. Felicia drops by with flowers for Mary Alice he’d forgotton to cancel and sees her picture through the doorway. She identifies her as Angela from Utah, but Paul denies it. She says she must be mistaken, but you can tell she doesn’t believe she is.
Finally… we have the Van De Kamps. Bree knows Rex is hiding something but he won’t tell her. She insists he has to be upfront with her if their reconciliation will work. He agrees and finally admits he likes the whole dominatrix thing. Bree is shocked and disgusted, but ends up agreeing to try it for the sake of their marriage.
Well, there ya have it: the episode in a nutshell! As always, I leave you with some great quotes and a clip from the episode. Take care and see ya next time!
Mary Alice: Most mothers will tell you their children are a gift from god. Most mothers would also tell you that the gifts their children give them are less than heavenly.
Bree: Well, it won’t be easy at first. There’ll be a lot of forced smiles and perfunctory love making, but after a few decades whiz by I’m sure I’ll find a way to forgive him.
Dr. Goldfine: Well, as long as you have a plan.
Bree: We’re, um, WASPs, Doctor Goldfine. Not acknowledging the elephant in the room is what we do best.
Dr. Goldfine: You’d settle for that? A life filled with repression and denial?
Bree: And the dinner parties. Don’t forget the dinner parties.
Lynette: Are you sure you didn’t misplace it? You’re getting up there in years, no offense, but you probably forget where you put things.
Mrs. McCluskey: No offense, but you should be sterilized.
Tom: Okay if the, uh, being a pleasant human being argument doesn’t fly with you, we’ll try a self preservation, what if she wakes up in the middle of the night, the house is on fire, you don’t want her to call 911?
Lynette: If our house catches fire I guarantee you, she’s the one that started it.
Good morning, all! So, last time we met, Martha was dead, Carlos and Gabby were fighting and Susan got hosed down in her front yard. This time, we open on Susan watching Lynette having trouble with the boys and having a bit of a smug look about it. Julie, after all, is perfect. At least, she is until Susan catches her kissing Zach Young. Susan freaks out and tells Julie she doesn’t want her seeing Zach. Julie throws a fit and walks off, while Lynette gets a bit of a smug look of her own now that the shoe’s on the other foot. Later on, Susan goes to speak with Paul about the situation and finds out they’re moving. Zach, meanwhile had no clue and gets upset, starting a fight right in front of Susan. Paul ends up finding out later that Zach has been talking to Julie about family stuff and grills him for details. He then volunteers to chaperone a dance with Susan so he can feed her a phoney story to explain everything, then tells Zach the truth, hoping to keep him from saying more. Zach just uses that info to force Paul to cancel the move he planned.
Over at the Solis house, Gabrielle has been recruited by John’s parents to talk him out of skipping college to grow his lawn business. Gabby refuses at first, but his mom threatens to go to the cops about the affair, changing Gabby’s mind faster than Susan breaks stuff. She heads over to John’s where he surprises her with a proposal. This really annoys John’s mom and she confronts Gabby again. Once again, Gabby promises to take care of things and gives the ring back to John, telling him they have no future and he was just a dumb toy for her so he may as well go to school.
Lynette is having a few issues with fidelity of her own. Tom’s dad shows up on the Lane and Lynette is shocked to come back one day to find him on their couch with another woman. One of the kids sees the lady’s stocking on the floor and Lynette flips, kicking him out of the house. When Lynette finds out Tom knew about it and is, in fact, casual about it, she kicks him out, too. Once she’s had a chance to cool down, she apologizes to Tom and tells him she’s just upset he was so casual about the whole thing because it makes her wonder if he’ll be doing the same thing 40 years down the line. He promises he’s not his dad, but he’s definitely hiding something.
Finally… let’s talk about the Van De Kamps. Bree and Rex are arguing over the division of assets and it’s getting a little ugly. Rex says he’ll call the whole thing off anytime Bree says the word. She’s not sure, though, because the trust has been broken and she doesn’t know what to do about that. In the meantime, she keeps seeing George and even asks his advice about the situation. He says if Rex was a good man other than the affair, he would consider forgiveness in her shoes. She considers it, and Goerge is probably secretly fuming right now at having to be that nice. Rex later shows up at the pharmacy and tells George that Bree is just using him to even the score. George disagrees, saying Bree is a lady and he now believe he was wrong in thinking Rex is a good guy. Rex demands his medicine and George lies, saying he can’t find it. He’ll have to deliver it later. As Rex leaves, we see George tossing pills down a drain.
Well, there you have it: Episode 13. I leave you, as always, with some quotes and a clip. Enjoy and see you next time!!
Lynette: You can do this, all right? Just, just scootch down a few inches, and I’ll grab you.
Parker, from the roof: No, you’ll drop me!
Lynette: I’m not gonna drop you. I might strangle you for climbing up here in the first place. But drop you, no. Come on!
Bree: I’m not speaking to you.
Rex: Didn’t like the settlement talks, huh?
Tom: Kind of. I mean, it was mostly in the past. I mean, I didn’t know that he was still at it. I mean, I figured he was getting too old. In some strange way, I‘m actually impressed, you know?
(Once Lynette has kicked both Tom and his father out of the house. The father for having an affair, Tom for not being too upset about it):
Rodney: I say we go up there and kick the door down.
Tom: Yeah, Dad, you do that. Let me know how that works out for you.
John: Okay, sure. We’d be poor at first, but we’d be happy.
Gabrielle: I’ve tried poor but happy. Guess what. It wasn’t that happy.
I was reading yahoo!news today and came across a story about the decline of the TV theme song. You know… those things they used to play over credit sequences? I barely remember em, either! Once upon a time, TV theme songs were original music with lyrics that actually told you a little something about the show. Gilligan’s Island, anyone? Or how about Facts of Life? Friends?
At some point shows started licensing songs from other artists, like when Dawson’s Creek uses Paula Cole’s “I Don’t Wanna Wait”. Then, things started shifting again. The article talks about how shows started using purely instrumental themes, using Danny Elfman’s score for Housewives as an example of the trend (Personally, I think an instrumental suits Housewives very well. More so than other shows).
Still, we had the special credit sequences where we got to see clips from the series showing the actor’s names. Shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Charmed had my favorite openings. I had added Desperate Housewives‘ opening sequence to that list until ABC decided to stop showing it and, like most other shows, just have a 2 second title screen followed by the cast’s names inserted over the actual scenes. Let’s face it, these days we’re lucky if we get to see the closing credits as more then a tiny screen, sped up about 100 times. I mean, really… how can you argue with the perfection of this?
Or the cheesy goodness of this one….
Or even the artsyness of this one (which, admittedly, is the only good thing about this show after the 1st season):
I say let’s bring ‘em back! They enhance the experience of the show to me and help to transport you into this other world you’re about to spend some time in. What do you all think? Do you miss theme songs and opening credits? Are you glad they seem to be gone for good? Comment and let me know! Til next time, take care!
Good evening, everyone! I’m back with a recap of season 1, episode 12. It’s an episode called “Everyday, a Little Death”. As you remember, Martha had gone missing and her sister, Felicia, showed up on Wysteria Lane. In this episode, Martha’s body has been found and the police are trying to figure out what happened to her. True to the nosy world of Wysteria Lane, word of her murder spreads quickly and Felicia plays to the crowd by giving as many gory details of the crime as possible. She further shocks and confuses everyone by announcing an estate sale set for 2 days from now where she’ll accept no personal checks. She’s also keeping herself busy by going through all of Martha’s journals to make sure to gets rid of any embarrassing family secrets in them before the police read them.
One person who is really affected by Martha’s death is Edie. She’s so upset, she wants to arrange a memorial for her when Felicia refuses. To her annoyance almost no one wants to attend. Susan, however, volunteers since she’s afraid that Martha mentioned her accidentally burning Edie’s house down. She and Edie drive out to a lake and end up having a talk while Susan changes a flat tire that actually seems to help things between them. That is, until Edie starts going on about what a wonderful friend Susan is while rowing out to spread Martha’s ashes. Susan feels so guilty she spills the arson beans and Edie, in one of her greater moments actually throws Martha’s ashes in Susan’s face, ordering Susan to row her back to the shore. When they get back to Wysteria Lane, Edie tells her she won’t go to the police because it would just delay her insurance check. She does, however, want Susan to invite her to the weekly poker games. She also orders Susan to stand on her front lawn while Edie sprays Huber’s ashes off her so Martha will be able to spend eternity looking over the neighborhood.
Gabrielle and Carlos, meanwhile, are once again fighting about babies. Carlos thinks a grandchild would make his mother happy. Gabrielle doesn’t care and refuses. This leads to a big fight where Gabrielle talks the takeout food she brought home outside and eats out of the range of Carlos’ ankle bracelet so he can’t get any. Later on, she apologizes and tells him how she’ll have some time to spend with him in a few days once a show she’s doing is over. Carlos is still worried, though, that Gabrielle will end up leaving him once the courts are done with him despite her promises she won’t. This ends up leading to something big later…
Bree spends most of the episode hanging out with George and teaching him to fire a gun. He’s more interested in making out, which surprises Bree so much she accidentally shoots him in the foot. She tries to apologize and ends up telling him they may need to spend time apart because she’s not ready to go there yet…. not while she’s still married to Rex. He asks her to reconsider because he doesn’t want to lose her friendship. Later, we see he’s completely creepy and weird when he sits down to dinner and a video of Bree shopping at the pharmacy, courtesy of the store’s security camera.
Finally… Lynette. I really don’t even want to go here, because her plot this episode annoys me to no end. Lynette’s been trying to go to yoga and hasn’t been able to get in on time to get the kids not in school into the daycare there. So, one day she tries again after having to shave Parker’s head thanks to the other boys putting bubblegum in his hair. The receptionist sees that and the sniffling kid and thinks he’s got cancer, immediately giving him a spot in the center. Lynette does nothing to correct her until a cancer survivor hears about it and asks to talk to Parker, scaring the kid.
Well, that’s all for now. See y’all tomorrow morning with more. Take care and enjoy these quotes from the episode, along with the promo for it.
Susan: What, you think there’s a chance Mrs. Huber didn’t write about it in the journal?
Julie: Please. It’s great dirt. I even put it in my journal. you’re gonna have to get to Mrs. Britt and come clean. Convince her it was an accident. If she doesn’t press charges, the police will probably just let it go.
Gabrielle: No, you promised, no babies!
Carlos: Things change!
Gabrielle: Yeah, I know. The Feds towed away my Maserati. My husband is a felon, and I spend my days getting groped by fat tracker salesmen at trade shows. I am well aware things change!
Bree: I’m still married to Rex. I mean, we’re not even legally separated yet.
George: He cheated on you. You said you were going to hate him forever.
Bree: You shouldn’t listen to a woman who’s just had her heart broken. We tend to lie.
Susan: Well, you know high school. Thank God we leave that behind!
Edie: See, I don’t think we do. I’m still the outsider that doesn’t get invited to the cool parties, and you’re still the perky cheerleader who thinks that she can pull the wool over everyone’s eyes.
Wow, guys… Wysteria Lane is really experiencing a population boom right now. First, we had Susan’s new guy…. then a man for Edie, new kids and another new addition in Gail O’Grady. Well, they aren’t done yet. At least, according to OK! Magazine. The magazine has reported that Lily Tomlin will be appearing on the show as well!
For those who don’t know her, she’s a legendary comedian who starred in The Incredible Shrinking Woman. She also has a famous character who appeared in Laugh-In skits called Edith Ann. She was a bratty kid who would sit in a huge rocking chair. Besides all that, she was also in 9-to-5, The Magic School Bus and A Prairie Home Companion. Not a bad resume, huh? Personally, I loved Edith Ann. She was hilarious. Here’s a clip of her playing the character on an episode of Sesame Street.
Lily will be playing the sister of an unnamed character who ends up getting sick and apparently needs her help. Let the guessing games begin!! I think we can rule out most of the main cast on this one. Time to look at new and supporting characters to figure this one out. Feel free to share your theories on the comments here. If you have any spoilers, though, please make sure to give people lots of warning so they can avoid em if they want.
Well, I better get going now. It’s time to get some stuff done around here. Sigh… where’s a Bree when I need one? Don’t worry, though. I didn’t forget about the recaps. I’ll post one or two over the weekend instead of waiting until Monday to post again. Til then, take care and see y’all next time!
NOTE TO MY READERS: My apologies. Apparently there was some technical glich and my post didn’t publish this morning. I only logged in to my site just now and noticed it.
Good morning, everyone!! How’s it going today? I hope everyone’s well and ready for the upcoming weekend. In the meantime… we got some dish to discuss! Wysteria Lane has apparently not had enough change lately. They’re getting ready to add yet another new face to the town. This time, Gail O’Grady is joining in. I won’t be giving any character details, since it’s spoilery. Still… get ready for some trouble, cause this character is going to be bringing it big time for one of our favorite families.
O’Grady started off on NYPD Blue and later went on to spend some time as queen of Lifetime movies. She has also been on the series Boston Legal and American Dreams. Not a bad resume at all. I know I’m looking forward to her appearing. If you just can’t wait to find out the dirt, feel free to contact me personally and I’ll let you know what her deal is.
And, now, we go from causing trouble to raising awareness. Remember when I told you that Dana was gonna be on Stand Up to Cancer? She took the show seriously. So much so, she even let the cameras in to see her getting a breast check up, including a mammogram. After, she let the cameras watch her discussing the results with her doctor. Turns out, they discovered a benign (non-cancerous) lump during the exam. Good for her for showing people the process.
Well, that’s about it for now. See y’all tomorrow with a recap and a little bit about Eva at Fashion Week. Til then, take care!!
