Recap Time!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

So, I promised you guys I would recap Eva Longoria’s appearance as soon as I was able to watch it myself and am a woman of my word. Since I know there are probably quite a few out there who missed it or can’t see it on youtube, here it is!

Russell Brand (host of the VMAs) was on right before her and was actually featured quite a bit during Eva’s spot. If she had any annoyance with him, she didn’t show it. She was laughing the entire time and looked to be really enjoying herself. The hilarity started when she discussed her family hunting for food at one point. Leno made a comment that prompted her to to tell him “don’t get Peta on me”. Apparently, Brand misheard that as “pee” and spent the entire rest of the episode joking about pee while Eva cracked up at the silliness of the whole thing. That was a bit of a surprise, though… I didn’t realize Eva’s family was so down home.

Another hot topic was her anniversary and the pregnancy rumors. She talked about how they just celebrated one year not that long ago with a trip and she is absolutely not pregnant. She just gained five pounds and went from a size zero to a size one. This, of course, led to the men being all confused there even is a size zero. Frankly? I’m with them. I don’t get the sizing for women’s clothes either. I think the men’s sizing is much easier and saves them from having to drag tons of clothes of varying sizes in and out of a changing room.

Besides that, she talked about Beso and how she’s there all the time and the ALMA awards. She mentioned she’s got like 11 costume changes and how it was almost like being in a NASCAR race trying to get everything changed in time. If you want to see the awards, they air on ABC on September 12th. Check your local listings for times. For anyone who was avoiding watching the video due to spoiler fears, fear not. They didn’t really even talk about the show… the most they did was play the theme music as she entered the stage.

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time. Also, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s post (even if you already did)… a reader has some extra scoop about Richard’s new show he shared.

The Men Are At it Again…

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Some good (and potentially bad) news today for any Richard Burgi fans out there. You guys know that he’s been keeping busy making some guest appearances on other shows. Well, now he’s got his own show! Can you believe it?

The show is called Harper’s Island and will air on CBS starting in 2009. It will be a mid-season replacement and is currently contracted for 13 episodes. No word on his character’s name and description. Still, it looks like he could have a fairly decent part. The show is about a destination wedding that ends up turning into a murder mystery. The action will be set on a secluded island that was home to a serial killer several years before. To keep us on the end of our seats, those familiar with the show have promised characters will get killed off regularly.

So where does that leave our favorite ex-husband? Your guess is as good as mine. It’s not looking good, though, since the show will be filmed in Vancuver, BC. Good luck to him on this one and here’s hoping for an occasional visit from Karl.

Richard’s not the only one with a side project. James Denton is taking his acting talents to the stage. Yes, you read that right. He’s scheduled to begin a run in the show “How Cissy Grew” on October 18th. A special sneak peak will be held on the 16th at the El Portal Forum Theatre in North Hollywood. The play will keep him busy until November 23rd.

Well, that’s all guys. Take care and I’ll see y’all soon! Don’t forget to drop me a comment and let me know what you think of the men’s new parts and be sure to check here for more entertainment news.

Desperate Pimping….

Monday, September 8th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Here’s a little something that is bound to make the loss of the weekend just a little easier: Circuit City and Best Buy have pimped their DVDs! Well, the Third Season of Desperate Housewives, anyway. Word online is both stores have included a disc called “Desperately Dangerous: Visit the Villains of Wysteria Lane.” Basically, it’s a one-disc featurette about all the bad guys of that season. It’s about 14 minutes long and is made up of clips, interviews and commentary. Circuit City did it awhile back and now Best Buy has apparently gotten into the act, although a bit late.

Given the length of the feature, it’s probably only worthwhile to people like me who have yet to purchase season three (I knew being a procrastinator could pay off). I guess the DVD industry has finally caught up with the record labels formula for increasing sales: re-release something with limited extra features/songs and watch sales increase as people buy a second copy. I know it sounds a bit cynical, but that’s me when it comes to a lot of what the industry does. Still… some of these extras can be cool, not to mention readily available online for those who have already bought the set. Be sure to ask if your store is carrying the 7-disc set to make sure you get this feature. And check here for info about the Season 4 set in case you missed it before.

Well, I guess that’s about it for now. Take care and see y’all next time! And don’t forget… the countdown is on! We’ve only got 20 days left until the new season starts.

Promo Fun and Talking Leno

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and ready for the weekend! I know I am. First off… I have an apology to make to y’all. I had some technical issues that prevented me from watching Eva on Leno the other night and bringing you the scoop about what happened. So instead, I’m bringing you something much better. It’s a youtube video so you can see the whole thing yourself. As soon as I am able to get to a computer where I can actually watch it, too, I’ll recap for other dial-up users like me that youtube doesn’t seem to like much. Enjoy!! Warning to all you spoiler-free people out there: As I didn’t see it yet, I can’t promise she won’t give away any plot details.

As an added bonus, check out this video below. It’s a promo for the season 4 DVDs I told you about the other day.

So, how many of you out there are considering getting the season 4 set? I’m not a huge DVD buyer, myself. I usually juse watch shows in reruns and occasionally buy a set if the show’s off the air. Still, this one is looking pretty interesting so I might actually get tempted this time- they do seem to be going a little above and beyond with this set, which I like. How about you guys? Are the special features and all a big selling point, or do you just care about the episodes only? Feel free to sound off on your own feelings about this.

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. I’ll see y’all again on Monday with more news and dish about our favorite show. I’ll even get a few recaps ready for you. Til then, take care!

TV Watch

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Good morning everyone! I thought today I would take some time to fill you in on where you can see various cast members on TV this week. Let’s start with the newest addition, Dana Delany! Obviously, there’s the Stand Up to Cancer event I mentioned in an earlier post. Besides that, you can see a younger Dana in the movie Final Jeopardy and on an episode of Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Jeopardy is going to be on Lifetime Movie Network on September 13th at 10 PM. Law and Order will be on the next day at 6 AM on USA, so set those VCRs!

Nicollette, meanwhile can be seen on Cinemax on September 7th at 7 AM in Code Name: The Cleaner. Sounds interesting… Adding to the interesting appearances, she’ll be in Robin Cook’s ‘Formula for Death’ on the Sci-Fi channel on the same day at 10:30. Hmm… a Nicollette double feature. All the guys out there should love that!

How about an actor that’s a bit of a blast from the past? You’re in luck, cause I see that Mark Moses (Paul Young) will be in Mad Men, Deep Impact and Letters from Iwo Jima. Mad Men is on AMC September 7th at 10 AM. Deep Impact will be on Showtime2E at 6:25 PM on the 8th. It’ll repeat on the 12th as well at 11:25 AM. Finally… Letters will be on AMC on September 10th at 11 PM. Should be fun to see him as something other than Paul, huh?

Well, that’s about all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time!

DVD Talk and Baby Watching

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Good morning all! Have I got some dish today, and it’s all about the season 4 DVD. You remember I told you about it’s release date before? Well, there’s so much more I just found out about. Looks like the powers that be have decided to work hard to make this set worth the money, considering it was a condensed season.

There’s the usual features- Marc’s favorite scenes, bloopers and some commentary. This time, though, they’ve added even more commentary to the mix. They’ve also included an alternate ending to the season finale, a feature on the men of the show and an extra disc with pilots for 3 ABC shows: Private Practice, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. They apparently got really creative with it too. According to a review out there, there’s a booklet listing the episodes that also serves as a “realty book” for the Lane with ads related to the show (ie, Scavos Pizzeria, Lang for Mayor, etc.) I don’t know about you guys, but this sounds like a set I can actually get excited about owning. I like having series on DVD and all, but having lots of extras makes the money spent much more worth it.

Before I leave, I guess I should mention that the rumor mill is buzzing about Eva. Apparently, some are going a bit nuts because Eva went to a Sushi place and club in Vegas and had no sushi and not a sip of alcohol. Some think this means she’s pregnant. That very well could be, but I’m not ready to join in and start analyzing her stomach. Her avoiding those things could possibly be playing it extra safe, as she has been going on about wanting a kid lately. I say leave it be. If she is and she wants to announce it, let her do it when (or if) she wants to. Do you agree? Let me know! Also, feel free to share your thoughts on the DVD set as well. I’d love to hear them! Til next time, take care!

Catching Up and Stepping Out

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Good morning, guys!! So… you love reading recaps to get yourselves all caught up on the show. Still, you’re a little unsatisfied. After all, nothing quite beats seeing it all play out in live action right in front of you. You don’t have the DVDs, so what are you supposed to do? Well, you’re in luck!

Lifetime TV, which has been airing the series in the middle of the night here and there, has now added the series to its daytime schedule. Every day at noon, you can catch up with all the Wysteria Lane craziness from the beginning. They’ll repeat the episodes at 8 AM the following day. It all starts this week, so be sure to tune in if you’re a late addition to watching the show.

Time Warp- One of the earilest photos of the cast from the 2004 press tour.

Time Warp- One of the earilest photos of the cast from the 2004 press tour.

It’s kind of interesting because part of the reason for the move is they are losing one of their more popular reruns, The Golden Girls, to another network soon. As I’m sure you all remember, Marc Cherry was involved in that show as well. I wonder how long it’ll be before they give him the chance to develop an original series for them.

By the way… get those VCRs set up! I just found out that Eva will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight at 11:35 PM. Check your local listings for stations and all. You can also see Eva at 10:30 tonight on a repeat of the George Lopez show. That airs on Nick. I do believe this is the first talk show appearance of the season for the ladies, so should be fun! I will, of course, be watching to fill you in on how it all goes. Until then, take care and see ya next time!!

Housewives at Large….

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! I hope you all had a great weekend and are all ready for some more dish! I know I am! Let’s talk appearances today, huh? The Housewives have been really busy over the past few weeks and I’m not just talking about their work on the show. They’ve been attending a bunch of different events lately. First up? Nicollette.

Not long before her announcement that she and Michael Bolton have broken up, she was spotted at the premiere for the movie “Fly Me to the Moon”. This happened in LA on August 3rd. I think she’s looking pretty good- definitely better than in some of the episodes of the show lately. The premiere was held at the Director’s Guild of America.

Marcia, meanwhile, was having a blast at the launch party for the new Pink Blackberry Curve by Verizon. The party was held on August 27th at the Intermix in LA. She definitely looks different than those recent videos of her playing with her twins in the playground. She seems to strike a nice balance between being normal and glam.

The newest addition to the cast, Dana Delany, was recently spotted at a party for the DNC. It was sponsored by Google and Vanity Fair and took place on the 28th at Exdo Event Center in Denver. Talk about commuting…

She’s not the only one, though. Eva also got her activist on in Denver recently. She attended a MySpace at the DNC. Is it just me, or is it still just so weird to see her with such short hair? Especially after all those promo pics came out featuring longer hair.

Finally, we have Teri Hatcher. She’s been busy performing occasionally with Band from TV. Here she is in LA performing at the Netflix Live! Event. Expect a whole lot more of this (and some talk show recaps) as the season premiere nears. I know I can’t wait… how about y’all? See ya next time with much more. Have a good one!
