Good morning, everyone!! The end of another week is upon us (not to mention Halloween!) and once again, it’s time to get ready for this Sunday’s episode by checking out a few preview scenes. As always, if you’d rather not find out anything at all beforehand, go no further. Might I suggesttheseblogs? If you’re not going to read on, have a great weekend and I’ll see ya on Monday (more…)
Hey, everyone! Well, here are some of my favorite lines from the latest episode. Enjoy!! Feel free to comment on this post with your own favorites.
Gabby: You know what’s tearing me apart? Another 10-pound baby shooting out from my hoo-ha!
Edie (To Dave, regarding the dress she picked): It’s my gift for Karen. I figure she can at least get five boob jokes out of it.
Mrs. McClosky to Edie: Are we going out for a drink or a mammogram?
Edie (to Dave): That’s one…
Edie to Dave, about Mrs. McCloskey: Prying is what people too old to have sex do to keep life interesting.
Orson (before leaving for Prison): How many inmates get sent off with a festive champagne brunch?
Andrew: You might not want to use the words ‘festive’ and ‘brunch’ in prison. They practically scream to the inmates ‘Hi, I’m husband hunting.’
Carlos: I’ll get a job.
Gaby: What’re you gonna do? Play piano and get a contract with Motown?
Lynette (assuring Penny): Daddy’s gonna live to be a ripe old age-unless he misses Mrs. McCluskey’s party and then all bets are off.
Jackson: I sat because my feet hurt from you dragging me around for an hour telling me you want to paint every room taupe!
Susan: You said you liked it!
Jackson: You’re obviously going through a rough patch. I was afraid if I suggested anything out of the beige family, I might send you over the edge.
Gabby (after Carlos tries to tell her being pregnant again is a good thing): Put the baby down, Carlos. I need to hit something and it needs to be you.
Carlos (after finding out she’s pregnant again): It’s another miracle!
Gabby: We’re up to two miracles now, and if you come back from the dead after I kill you, it’ll be three!
Tom: I’m about to blow your mind right now…
Lynette: Please don’t. I like my mind the way it is.
Bree: This isn’t going to be easy… Katherine will be furious.
Orson: Yes, but the great thing about Katherine is, she’ll express is so passive-aggressively, we’ll hardly notice.
And now… I leave you with the opening to the Desperate Housewives video game. Enjoy it!
Good morning, everyone!! I’m here to give you my “Actor/Character of the Week” pick, but first, I have a little news to share that’s related to the show…
I’m sure by now a lot of you have heard of the 90210 re-make that has become a hit for the CW. One of the good things about the show is their use of original characters. Well… that’s gone so well that the CW is looking into doing the same for Melrose Place. With several original cast members having come back to 90210, it makes me wonder who the producers might lure back for a guest spot should Melrose make it out of the development process. Could we see Marcia Cross popping on as crazy Kimberly Shaw one more time? Or what about Doug Savant as Matt Fielding? The double-duty possibilities are very intriguing, although maybe unlikely.
Also? I saw James Denton on the Bonnie Hunt show yesterday. He was on there to promote the new season and his Band from TV project. He spent most of the time, though, talking about his kids. Apparently his son is a very serious, quiet type who likes to wear ties and reads way beyond his years. His daughter, on the other hand, is more of a tomboy and likes sports. They showed a clip during the interview from the new episode of Dave and Mike talking. Dave was trying to convince Mike to join their band and was being pretty aggressive about it (what else is new?). Before he left, James took a bunch of free-throws on the set. For each basket he made, a donation was made to Cancer research. Overall, a great interview. Tune in today to see Dana Delany on the same show.
And now…. the Actor/Character of the week. I give the prize to Dana Delany as Katherine simply for the scene she had with Bree where she reads Bree the riot act over drinking. The passion and anger in her delivery were spot on and she showed a real strength and spark we haven’t been able to see much of this season from her. I also loved the way she responded to Orson’s plea to get a chance to prove himself. “Honey… working for Bree, you won’t last a few months.” So true. And the delivery of that line was perfect. A nice mix of confidence, sympathy and just plain bluntness. Kudos to Marc Cherry and company for keeping her around. Well, that’s it for today. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time with some great quotes!
Good morning, everyone!! I got some news for you if you’re a fan of Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch movies, Katherine’s Ex on Housewives). He’s been pretty busy ever since he ended his trip to Wysteria Lane. He was on Pineapple Express, Office Space and he even had a pilot called Good Behavior. Now? He’s got a steady role.
He’ll be starring on HBO’s series Entourage as Andrew Klein, a friend of Ari Gold. Like a lot of other roles, this wasn’t supposed to be a full-time gig at first. Gary guest-starred on the show this season for three episodes and producers have decided to bring him in full time. He’ll start filming on the show’s six season early next year. Watch for him to hit the airwaves in Summer 2009. Congrats to him on his new part. This, of course, means that it’s like Good Behavior will go nowhere. It wasn’t picked up as a midseason show earlier this year.
In other news, I just saw some quick numbers for Sunday’s episode and they’re pretty good. The show got a 15.62 rating, which is slightly higher than last week’s numbers, making it the number 1 show in it’s timeslot. It’s also tops with viewers 18-49, an advertiser’s favorite demographic. Once the final numbers are in, I’ll let you know. Whether the numbers stay the same or go up when those come out, it’s good news for the show and I think is reflecting how well this time jump has worked. It really did re-energize things. Something a show in year 5 badly needs usually.
Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya next time with some great quotes from the episode.
Good morning, everyone!! I’m back and ready to fill you in on the latest episode of Housewives, in case you missed it. This one was kinda different in that it spent a lot of time playing with time. You’ll see what I mean. Let’s start at the beginning and work our way through the families shall we? I’ll start with a clip of the opening narration and the Solis family this time.
Gabrielle if freaking out because she’s late and thinks she might be pregnant again because she’s like clockwork usually. (Seriously… is any woman on TV not like clockwork with her time of the month? Must be nice to be so predictable there….) Her worries cause her to remember the first two times she was in this situation. She actually slapped her doctor when she was told she was pregnant. The second time, the doctor stayed back from her when giving her the news, after begging her not to hit him (this, by the way, leads to an awesome look from Gabby). Later on, she and Carlos are on their way to a party for Mrs. McClusky’s birthday when Gabby decides to tell him her fears. He tries to tell her what a good thing that is, like he did the last two times. This time, Gabby’s mad and wants to sue the doctor who obviously messed up Carlos’ vasectomy. Unable to talk her down, he admits he never had one. Now, Gabby’s furious with him. They eventually talk it out and Gabby agrees to not make him get one for real, seeing how much it means to him to try for a son one day. We also learn that Carlos became a massage therapist shortly after Gabby got pregnant with Juanita to support his new family. He figured that was a perfect job because it relies mostly on touch.
Over at the Meyer house (where the party is being held), Susan is getting ready when Jackson arrives a little bit late. He’s hurrying to get changed when he tells her he’d like to move in. After all, he spends most of his time there anyway. Susan freaks and flashes back to the day she and Mike got divorced. After a year of separation, Susan got cold feet and begged Mike not to sign the papers. She was convinced they could work through the accident because they’d been so good together before that. (Ok… when was that? I can’t remember a totally drama-free time between them.) Mike, however, doesn’t think it’s a good idea and signs the papers and then walks right out of the room. Susan is devastated and decides to hire someone (Jackson) to paint her house because she “needs a change”. They verbally spare a little bit before ending up in bed together. Jackson tells her he doesn’t want anything serious and Susan tells him she’s just fine with that.
Now, we arrive at the Scavo house where we find out exactly why Tom has been acting the way he has this season. In a flashback, it’s revealed he almost died while doing some electrical work in the pizza place. In the hospital, Tom tells Lynette he needs more in life and she agrees to go along with it. Little does she know that will mean Tom agreeing to sell the pizza place so he can buy a camper and have the family travel for a year. Lynette flips and refuses to go along with it. Tom challenges her, telling her she’s always “a buzzkill” and wondering why she can’t be more supportive. She responds by offering to get him a towel, then throwing a drink in his face. Later on, they talk a bit and Tom explains himself a bit more. Lynette kinda gets it (while also reminding him he’s not the only one around here who faced death…), but argues that they already turned their lives upside down to get the pizza place going and the family can’t keep making huge changes like this every time Tom gets bored. Tom isn’t too pleased with that and refuses to come inside with her, preferring to stand and brood on the porch for awhile.
Now, we get to the Hodge home. Bree tells Orson it isn’t fair to Katherine to basically toss her aside when she’s put so much work into the business and she never should’ve agreed to let Orson join up without Katherine being ok with it. He is having none of that and demands a divorce when Bree won’t give in. He wants to know why on earth Bree is more worried about what Katherine thinks then him. We get a flashback to answer that! Apparently, right before Orson went to jail, Bree held a small get-together where she snuck a little bit of champagne. Once Orson was gone and Danielle took Benjamin back, she started abusing alcohol again, causing Katherine to get tough with her. She came in and demanded Bree get up and help with an event, telling her to fill her void “with work and accomplishments” instead of falling back into these habits. She also insists on moving in with Bree for awhile to make sure Bree stays on the straight and narrow until Orson gets back. (Have I mentioned I like Katherine?)
So that leaves us with the Williams family. Dave suggests throwing a surprise party for Karen for her 70th birthday. Edie goes along with the idea, but they decide to have it at Susan’s house. The plan is for Edie to take Karen out for the “traditional birthday drink” while everything is set up. When they get back, Edie is going to drop Karen off at her house and then get her to come over to Susan’s. Dave’s flashback during the party doesn’t go back very far, but it does reveal a bit. The party idea came to him after he caught Karen going through their mailbox. She claims that mail for Edie was left at her house by mistake, so she was just dropping it off and making sure none of hers was left at their house by mistake. Dave doesn’t buy it, so he gets the party ball rolling. While everyone’s busy with that, he breaks into Karen’s house and moves a few things around downstairs for her to find when she returns home later. Karen notices the things that were disturbed and realizes who is responsible. So, when she shows up at Susan’s house in the present time, there’s a bat in her hand. One she uses to attack Dave with, ranting about how he’s messing with her and she’s got going to take it. Everyone is confused and thinks Karen’s gone nuts, so they call an ambulance, which takes her away. Dave climbs in the ambulance with her, admitting to a now drugged Karen that he did do what she accused him of and he’s sorry it had to turn out like that, since she’s not his target (a man is). He then asks her to take care of herself, seeming, for the first time, genuinely concerned about a person and not just putting on a show.
So there you have it: “Mirror, Mirror”. It was a great episode and I definitely recommend catching the rerun if you missed it (or keep an eye on DVD releases). I’ll leave you know with the ending narration. Enjoy and see you next time!
Stopping in real quick to let you know that it’s official. Gale’s been moved out of ICU and into a room at another hospital. His publicist released a statement saying that he continues to improve every day and “He thanks everyone for their good wishes”. Hopefully, he’ll be back on the set very soon.
Happy Friday, everyone!! As usual, I’m here to offer you a sneak peak at the new episode called “Mirror, Mirror”. If you’d rather wait until Sunday to find out anything, skip this post and check out this one instead. Or maybe jaunt over to this blog and get some other pop culture news. (more…)
Good morning, everyone!! Well, Gale Harold fans…. there’s not a whole lot to say right now. No new reports have been released regarding his condition. There is, however, a statement by fellow actor Scott Lowell that came out on his official site the other day. Lowell says that out of respect for Gale’s privacy, all he’ll say is the actor is making improvements every day and he’s surrounded by love and support. He asks for the well wishes to keep on coming. Lowell co-starred with Gale on Queer as Folk.
Like Jesse Metcalfe? Well, according to the rumor mill, you just might be seeing him on TV soon. Well, in Britain, anyway. Some reports are saying he’s set to appear on the new season of the reality show I’m a celebrity… get me out of here. There was an American version that aried here for a couple seasons as well. Guess America didn’t feel like making a hit out of every reality import that comes here. If he does end up appearing, it wouldn’t be a total surprise, since he had an off-and-on relationship with a member of British girl group Girls Aloud.
Finally, it’s rumored that Eva has also said she’s interested in getting into the fashion biz with her own line. She supposedly credited that to buddy Victoria Beckham during a radio interview. I’ll let you know if anything comes of it. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is true, either. It seems like it’s practically a law now for stars to develop fashion and accessory lines.
Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya tomorrow!!
Good morning, guys!! I’m here and ready to share some great quotes with you from the latest episode. If you have any favorites I didn’t include, be sure to comment and share them with me. What one is your favorite of the ones I chose? Be sure to comment and let me know.
Bree (reading Lynette’s ad slogan for her): Let Mrs. Van De Kamp turn your oven into a time machine.
Lynette: I see women really responding to that.
Bree: You do? Because I see children crawling into their ovens hoping to see dinosaurs.
Gaby: Carlos, if she stood there any longer than five minutes, then there was nothing natural about what she saw.
Bree: Lynette! You are drunk!
Lynette: Yeah, that’s immaterial.
Jackson: (justifying why he taught MJ to ride a bike): He made me! He said “pwease”!
Gabby: Sometimes Mommy fakes things when she’s wrestling with Daddy.
Carlos: I want my girls to believe in Santa Claus as long as possible. They’ll gonna find out soon enough that it is a lie.
Bethany: What? There’s no Santa Claus? (leaves the room, sobbing)
Teacher: Who’s Jackson?
MJ: He paints our house, until my mommy made him drink wine and have sleepovers.
Speaking of the latest episode, the ratings are in and it’s a pretty good story. While the show slipped a bit (down to 15.5 million veiwers), they didn’t lose as much as some other shows did. They also came out first in the timeslot for the night this week, especially in viewers 18-34, a highly coveted group. CSI actually won the week, while Dancing With the Stars came in 3rd and 6th. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and talk to y’all later.
It’s kind of hard for me to pick someone this time as they were so many great moments and such great acting this week. Still… I do keep coming back to someone I gave the title to before: Neal McDonough (Dave Williams).
Neal has been bringing a lot of creepiness to this role and seems to be reveling in it. It kind of reminds of me of when David Boreanez would play Angelus on ANGEL. He just seems to have so much fun with it, you can’t help but like him in the part. Dave has been working things perfectly so far to get whatever end result he’s looking for. No matter who he talks to, he seems to have this crazy ability to get them to see things his way and do what he wants them to do. It’s a bit uncanny and could’ve been painful to watch if Neal didn’t have such charisma himself. He’s believable as this guy everyone defers to whether they want to or not. When he let Edie buy that house, you knew it wasn’t about making Edie happy… he just wanted to get Mike in the band and he knew this was a way to do it. Sneaky…
Honorable mention goes to Nicollette Sheridan this week. While seeing Edie in the premiere being so deferential was kind of amusing, I’d glad to see she has some of that old spunk and sass still when she asks Dave if he’s going to yell at her again. Nicollette’s doing a great job of keeping the old Edie alive to some extent while showing how she’s changed over the years. It can’t be a easy balancing act, that’s for sure.
Hey, everyone! I told you I was going to recap and I am a woman of my word (even if it is a little bit later). Since she and Mike were the teaser scene, let’s start with the Mayer/Delfino family shall we? It starts with Susan and Mike attending a meet the parents night at MJ’s school. The teacher (the same lady who taught the Scavo brats… nice continuity!) has had each of the kids draw a picture of their families for the occasion as usual. Susan and Mike are disturbed to find out the MJ has drawn him, Susan and Jackson, which Mike very small and off to the side because he’s “always so far away”. Ouch! This leads Mike to get all insecure about his place in MJ’s life and causes him to buy his son a bike earlier than he and Susan had planned. As soon as he gets time, he wants to teach MJ to ride it. Unfortunately for him, and unknown to Susan, Jackson teaches MJ after the kid begs him over and over. Susan is upset to find this out and tells MJ to fall on purpose to Mike will think he’s getting to teach him after all. MJ finally relents to her pleas and actually hurts himself, leading Susan to confess what happened and to lecture Mike because he shouldn’t have expected a 5-year-old to sit back and wait after being given a bike. Mike ends up moving back to Wysteria Lane to be closer to MJ. I’ll tell you how that happened later. By the way… I’d love to know what the Scavo kids drawings looked like back in the day. What do you all think those pictures looked like?
Next, I’ll take you to the Solis house, where Gabby and Carlos are having a hard time getting “alone time” together. Gabby decides to set Juanita up a play date once a week so they can get a couple of hours alone. Unfortunately for them, Juanita is dropped off early one day and walks in on their “alone time”, forcing the Solises to explain the facts of life to her. Juanita then goes around telling every kid she comes across everything she’s learned, making the other parents not want her around. So, their basically right back where they started.
Bree is having some home issues, too. Orson has become a bit bitter about everything he lost and Bree’s success is making it worse for him. He practically begs for a place in her company, but Katherine vetos the idea since she’s already been made pretty insignificant as it is. When Bree tells him she can’t let him join the business he decides to freeze her out and stay in the guest room. He also skips out on seeing her win the Business Woman of the Year award because of it. That becomes the final straw for her and she gives in to Orson’s demand for a job. He, of course, then goes back to staying in their bedroom at night. I get his issues, but wow…. he’s turning into a bit of a jerk this year. Anyway…
Let’s move along, shall we? Orson isn’t the only one bothered by the success of Bree. Lynette’s feeling pretty inferior herself. Especially after she finds out the receptionist from her old company is now running his own ad business (and Bree’s book campaign). She’s convinced she can do better and comes up with a whole big presentation for Bree, which Bree rejects. This leads to Lynette having a few too many at the awards ceremony for Bree and causing a scene. She actually takes responsibility and apologizes for what she did, promising Bree that she’ll be on her side no matter what. That’s more than I can say for Bree’s husband, who has become increasingly controlling and manipulative this year. Which leads me to the Williams home…
Dave is determined to get Mike in the band, even though Mike has said he can’t do it because he lives too far away. Edie, meanwhile, wants to buy a house on the Lane as an investment property and rent it out. Dave is flat-out against it and even yells at Edie to forget about it. He apologizes and goes upstairs to take some pills. Later on, he tells Edie to go ahead and buy that house and rent it out to Mike so he’ll be closer to the Lane and more likely to join the band. He doesn’t tell Edie that, though. She just thinks he wants to do a good deed. One, by the way, he won’t let Edie tell anyone their doing. Mike just thinks Edie knows the person renting it. He doesn’t realize Edie and Dave are now his landlords. He seems pretty obsessed with getting everyone together, doesn’t he? And I thought Lynette, Bree and Gabby were good at getting what they want out of people. I think Dave is putting them to shame lately.
Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and enjoy this promo for next week!
Good morning, everyone! It’s Monday, which means time for another week of dish. Don’t worry…. recap will come later, followed by my normal post-episode posts that will start tomorrow. I wanted to share a little news with y’all first.
First off- The contract negotiations (yes, this are still going on!) Apparently, the board of SAG has voted to allow it’s members to vote on whether or not they will strike should an agreeable deal not be made pretty soon. They’ve also demanded a mediator to handle negotiations and hopefully get a deal finalized. I’m confused on a couple things here. First, what sane actor would vote to strike after the disaster that was the Writer’s walk-out? California and the Industry is still recovering from that. Add in a shaky economy overall and I don’t see them voting to stop working. Besides… how bad could this deal the producers offered be? AFTRA, the Directors Guild and the WGA all agreed to it ages ago. I’ll keep ya posted on any new developments there.
Some good news for the set of Housewives today. I just read they’ve been nominated for awards at the annual “National Television Awards” in the UK. It’s a fan-voted show that is the most well-known of it’s kind there. Ugly Betty was also nominated. Keep checking back, as I’ll be sure to let you know if the show wins anything. You can check out the website and cast your vote here.
Finally… speaking of websites, ABC has really gone all out for the show this year. They have virtual tours of Wysteria Lane where you can go inside the ladies’ houses and even find clues to the new season. My computer’s really slow, so I haven’t tried the tour yet. I’ve seen comments from other fans who’ve visited, though, and they’re pretty good. One thing they mentioned- beware of Katherine’s kitchen. Apparently it’s so yellow, it’s blinding. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all later for the recap!
Hey, everyone! Just checking in real quick to give an update for all the Gale fans out there (hi, Romy!)
According to sources, he is in fact in the intensive care unit and has suffered from some brain swelling. The good news is, they say he’s doing better and is expected to recover fully. They’re currently waiting for a bed to open up at another facility so he can be transfered.
On the Housewives front, Marc Cherry confirmed he has been told to expect a recovery but it will probably take a few weeks at least. In the meantime, a scene has been re-written to account for Jackson’s absense on the Lane while Gale recovers. Best wishes continue to go out to him, his family and friends. I’ll let you know if any new details come out.
That’s it for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time.
Good morning, everyone. It’s Friday again (finally!) and I’m sure you’re all ready to end the week right. I’m here to help with a couple of sneak peaks. If you don’t wanna see anything before the episode airs, you might wanna skip this post. (more…)
Hi, everyone. I’ve got some more good news and bad news to share today. I’ll go ahead and get the good out of the way now, so we can properly discuss the other news.
Remember when I told you James Denton was doing a play? Well, he’s given a few more details to Entertainment Tonight. He says that the play is about a family dealing with the abduction of their child and he is starring opposite his real-life wife. He and Erin O’Brian aren’t acting together for the first time, either. James recalled meeting her working on a play together and they did another one later on. Congratulations to them. Be sure to get in touch with the box office for the El portal Theatre in North Hollywood if you’re interested in attending a performance. More information about the play can be found in this post.
Now… I have a bit of sad news to report. Gale Harold, who plays Jackson on the show, was injured in a motorcycle accident. There are some conflicting reports out there about his status. Some say he’s stable, while others are reporting that he is in critical condition. As soon as more information is released, I’ll let you know. I’ll also report any updates over the coming days. I’d like to extend my best wishes to him and his family at this time. Here’s hoping for a quick and full recovery. Feel free to add your own well wishes in the comments. I’ll see you next time. Til then, take care.
