Actor/Character of the Week
It’s kind of hard for me to pick someone this time as they were so many great moments and such great acting this week. Still… I do keep coming back to someone I gave the title to before: Neal McDonough (Dave Williams).
Neal has been bringing a lot of creepiness to this role and seems to be reveling in it. It kind of reminds of me of when David Boreanez would play Angelus on ANGEL. He just seems to have so much fun with it, you can’t help but like him in the part. Dave has been working things perfectly so far to get whatever end result he’s looking for. No matter who he talks to, he seems to have this crazy ability to get them to see things his way and do what he wants them to do. It’s a bit uncanny and could’ve been painful to watch if Neal didn’t have such charisma himself. He’s believable as this guy everyone defers to whether they want to or not. When he let Edie buy that house, you knew it wasn’t about making Edie happy… he just wanted to get Mike in the band and he knew this was a way to do it. Sneaky…
Honorable mention goes to Nicollette Sheridan this week. While seeing Edie in the premiere being so deferential was kind of amusing, I’d glad to see she has some of that old spunk and sass still when she asks Dave if he’s going to yell at her again. Nicollette’s doing a great job of keeping the old Edie alive to some extent while showing how she’s changed over the years. It can’t be a easy balancing act, that’s for sure.
