Actor/Charater of the Week
Good morning, everyone!! I’m here to give you my “Actor/Character of the Week” pick, but first, I have a little news to share that’s related to the show…
I’m sure by now a lot of you have heard of the 90210 re-make that has become a hit for the CW. One of the good things about the show is their use of original characters. Well… that’s gone so well that the CW is looking into doing the same for Melrose Place. With several original cast members having come back to 90210, it makes me wonder who the producers might lure back for a guest spot should Melrose make it out of the development process. Could we see Marcia Cross popping on as crazy Kimberly Shaw one more time? Or what about Doug Savant as Matt Fielding? The double-duty possibilities are very intriguing, although maybe unlikely.
Also? I saw James Denton on the Bonnie Hunt show yesterday. He was on there to promote the new season and his Band from TV project. He spent most of the time, though, talking about his kids. Apparently his son is a very serious, quiet type who likes to wear ties and reads way beyond his years. His daughter, on the other hand, is more of a tomboy and likes sports. They showed a clip during the interview from the new episode of Dave and Mike talking. Dave was trying to convince Mike to join their band and was being pretty aggressive about it (what else is new?). Before he left, James took a bunch of free-throws on the set. For each basket he made, a donation was made to Cancer research. Overall, a great interview. Tune in today to see Dana Delany on the same show.
And now…. the Actor/Character of the week. I give the prize to Dana Delany as Katherine simply for the scene she had with Bree where she reads Bree the riot act over drinking. The passion and anger in her delivery were spot on and she showed a real strength and spark we haven’t been able to see much of this season from her. I also loved the way she responded to Orson’s plea to get a chance to prove himself. “Honey… working for Bree, you won’t last a few months.” So true. And the delivery of that line was perfect. A nice mix of confidence, sympathy and just plain bluntness. Kudos to Marc Cherry and company for keeping her around. Well, that’s it for today. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time with some great quotes!
