Ratings and Casting Dish…

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

old-cast-photoHello, again!! I have some casting news to share with you (I’ll put it behind a cut for those who might not wanna know) but first, I thought I’d share some ratings news with you guys. According to the latest numbers, Housewives improved on last week’s 13.5 million by getting a total of 14.3 million for this week’s episode. Not only that, they were number one in the 18-49 demographic. No wonder they’re working out the details of bringing the show back for longer. Will it keep up? Stay tuned and find out next week. By the way…. It was just announced by the network that we’re getting a 2 hour finale this year and it will air on May 17th. It’s hard to believe the season is so close to ending. Anyway… let’s get to the casting dish, huh? (by the way- the picture is from a preview event during the show’s first season. I thought it might be nice to look back before getting into what’s coming up) (more…)

Steven Culp and the Worst Movie Ever

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Ok, maybe that was a bit over dramatic, but still…
I may have mentioned in a post a little bit back that my guy’s a huge Friday the 13th fan. So, when Valentine’s Day came around I took him to go see the brand new one and was surprised to see that Richard Burgi was in it. He’s not the only one from the cast who’s starred in one of these movies, though. Steven Culp was also in a Friday movie and I, unfortunately, just got to see it first hand. I thought I’d talk a little about it for people who haven’t seen it.

The movie is Jason Goes to Hell and is, in my opinion, the worst of the whole series. Basically, this movie took it from being a pretty reality-based series and brought in a bunch of mystical mumbo-jumbo about curses and how Jason can only be killed by a Voorhees and all this other weird stuff. Did I mention there’s apparently a little insect-like thing in Jason that is being transferred from character to character, making others Jason in the movie? Yeah, I’m scratching my head, too.

Steven plays a kinda creepy character who is an anchor on one of those news magazine shows, similar to Inside Edition. Word on the street is that the FBI managed to take out Jason for good, but he doesn’t believe it and he is making it some big mission to expose that he’s still alive and committing murders. He ends up getting possessed by Jason’s spirit and goes on a killing spree himself. Unfortunately, seeing him was about the most entertaining part of the whole experience. He does play a great jerk. As a Nightmare on Elm Street fan, I also liked how Freddy’s hand came up from underground and dragged Jason’s mask down. If you’re a big fan of Steven, I’d borrow the movie from a library or something and skip to any parts that feature him. Here’s a really brief clip of Steven being Jason. Be warned- it is a kill video. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time.

Hey, everyone! Sorry for the delay. Check my other blog for an explanation as well as a couple cute spoofs if you’re a 24 fan. Anyway… I have a bit of news to share regarding Gale Harold. If you don’t wanna find out, go no further! (more…)

Neal’s New Part

Friday, February 20th, 2009

Hello, out there! How’s it going? I’m doing pretty good… and I’ve got some good news to share with people who are Neal McDonough fans. He’s starring in a movie called ‘Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li’. Kristin Kreuk from Smallville plays the lead part of the movie, which is based on a series of video games similar to Mortal Kombat.

Neal will be playing the part is Bison. He’s described as a boss and antagonist who is bent of world domination. It’s funn how Neal keeps getting these bad guy roles, huh? Ah well… he plays them well! He’s also the head of a crime syndicate called Shadaloo and hosts the tournament the game is named after. He was first introduced in the second game.

I was browsing on youtube and came across a promo for the movie. I actually really liked the trailor. I’m not usually much for action/game movies like this, but the trailor made me think this is gonna be a good movie. You see Neal a few times briefly in it. Instead of the usual costume for the character, they’ve got him wearing a business suit. I think he’s looking pretty good. Check it out for yourself, thanks to CinemaZone:

So, what do you think? Does the promo look good? Are you a fan who’s annoyed at the change in costume? Be sure to comment and let me know. The movie is supposed to open of February 27, 2009. Well, that’s it for now. Take care and I’ll see you next time.

Ratings and More

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

Good morning, everyone!! I’ll have some quotes for ya tomorrow, but let’s talk ratings for now. The show had a slight increase this week. They managed to pull in about 13.9 million viewers this week. I haven’t see the other information yet, but when it’s available I’ll let you know. Unfortunately, we don’t appear to be getting a new episode next week. There was a promo for something else last night. Hopefully, it’ll only be a one week delay. I guess we’ll see.

In some related news, there’s something else doing pretty well ratings-wise (or box office-wise to be more exact): The Friday the 23th remake. It’s number 1 right now at the box office after taking in over 43 million in it’s first weekend. It’s also expected to be one of the biggest grossing horror movies. I’ll give ya more on that as it’s released. If you remember, Richard Burgi (Karl) is in the film. He plays a sheriff and is one of Jason’s last victims in the movie. I thought he did a pretty good job. So much so, I didn’t even realize it was him at first. I’m curious to see what part he takes on next.

By the way… people are still buzzing about Nicollette leaving the show. US weekly recently posted a story about it with comments from the cast. There’s a little spoiler in there, so beware if you’re spoiler-free. You can read the whole thing here. Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time. I leave you guys with a funny scene from the latest episode, thanks to DesperateAddicts.

Breaking Housewives News

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

nicolletteHello again. Is it just me, or can some people just not make up their minds about keeping a certain person on this show? ABC just announced that Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving Desperate Housewives this season, presumably for good. Yeah, I know. I’m getting deja vu, too. For anyone not in the loop, she was gone for awhile after Edie tried to blackmail Bree. The ladies basically threatened to ruin her and she decided to go away for awhile. There was no other information given in the statement about why she’s leaving again or what’s going to happen to Edie. There are already a few rumors floating around, but they’re a little spoilery. I’ll put em behind a cut for ya. If you wanna know keep going. Otherwise here’s a couple cool blogs for ya. (more…)

Emmy News and Casting

Friday, February 6th, 2009

Hello again!! Is everyone ready for the weekend (and new episode)? I know I am! Before I head out, though, I have a couple headlines for you. One has to do with the Emmy Awards.

Now, I know the awards season hasn’t been the kindest to the show this year, but there’s still a chance for the show to take home some nice statues and a change in rules just might help do it. The Emmy Awards have decided that there are just too many good shows and actors out there and something has to be done. Their solution? Having six nominees instead of five this year in ten different categories. They include: Best Drama Series, Best Comedy Series, Lead Actress in a Comedy/Drama Series and Lead Actor in a Comedy/Drama. This could both help and hurt the show, in my opinion. It will surely help by giving them one more chance to be nominated, but it’ll also just make the competition stiffer (and any individual’s odds of winning smaller). Personally, I think they could’ve helped by not nominating the same people each year (especially when they’ve already won multiple times or their shows just aren’t that great).

In other news, I’ve got some casting scoop for you. If you don’t wanna know, how about heading over here instead? For the rest of you… read on: (more…)

Doug Savant Alert

Monday, January 26th, 2009

Good morning, everyone! So, last night was a repeat of the 100th Episode and we’re getting a repeat next week, too. That, of course, means no recap. Still there is some news to talk about. Starting with Doug Savant. I got an e-mail the other day about a new movie he’s in. I got it too late to talk about it at the time, but now it’s getting ready to repeat so here’s the scoop:

It’s called What Color is Love, and co-stars Jennifer Finnegan from The Dead Zone. It’s about a woman who has an affair with a basketball player and ends up in a custody battle over their child. I can’t find any information about what Doug’s part is exactly, but I’m guessing it’s a pretty good part, since he’s listed as one of the stars. It airs on Lifetime Movie Network at 10 PM on the 29th and again at 2 PM on the 30th. Here’s a promo, courtesy of LifetimeFilms:

If that’s not enough Doug for you, you can also check out Bonnie and Clyde: The True Story on Fox Movie Channel. That airs on February 3rd at 4 PM. The movie is from 1992 and features fim as a Sheriff who is looking for the pair.

By the way, stay tuned Gale Harold Fans… according to a bit from TV Guide not long ago, Susan and Jackson are going to be reuniting soon. Whether this means that are actually getting back together or just going to meet up, I don’t know. Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time.

Interview with a Doctor…

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

So, I’m sure by now all of you know about the new face on Wysteria Lane, Dr. Cominis. He’s the surgeon that fixed Orson’s snoring problem, leading to one of the funniest scenes all year. Ya know, the one where Bree informs the doctor that she doesn’t care if Orson’s apprehensive about the procedure because he owes her big. The look on his face was priceless.

He’s also got another role on the show: Andrew’s new man (another classic moment, by the way). According to the article he has shot four episodes of the show right now. Here’s hoping he’s got many more to come because he’s great. So far, he’s appeared in two. Because of his new notoriety, his hometown paper, The Daily News, did an interview with him. You can see the full article and all his comments about the cast and the show here. In the meantime, let me fill you in on a couple parts of the interview that stuck out to me.

One is people’s reaction to his part on the show. Apparently, he’s getting a lot of people joking with him that they saw his video (if you remember, his character once starred in an adult film). He has a great sense of humor about it, though, laughing along with the people. Also, he revealed that the scene where he and Andrew announce they’re engaged was filmed the day after Proposition 8 was voted through, which I thought was kind of ironic. You might also remember him from his roles on Samantha Who and Criminal Minds. Be sure to come back and share your thoughts on it all after you’ve read the interview for yourself. For now, I’m out of here! Take care and see you all again tomorrow.

Desperate Spoksewoman

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

Hello, again! As we wait for new episodes to start up again, I went looking for some news about the actors. I ended up coming across a story on AdWeek’s website talking about a(nother) new project for Marcia Cross. If you remember, I mentioned yesterday she was gonna be involved with the inaugural festivities in January.

That’s not all, though. She’s just been signed on for another part: spokesperson. She’s gonna be the face of a new ad campaign for Mott’s. They haven’t done a major ad campaign in awhile and are ‘desperate’ to get the word out to people that their products give them some of those much-needed fruit servings and they want Marcia to be the one delivering the message.

They love the fact she’s a mom and think it’s gonna be a big draw. I say they made a good move. Who better than Bree herself to advertise a brand that loves it’s wholesome image? While the ads are already being filmed, they haven’t said when we can expect them to pop up on TV. Considering they said they’ll be putting out a lot of new products in the next year or so, I think they won’t be waiting to long to debut them. Whenever they get posted online, I’ll be sure to share.

So, what’s the verdict? Do you think this is a good move for her? Is there anyone else you think would’ve fit better? Post your thoughts below and I’ll see y’all next time!!

TV Watch…

Friday, November 21st, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! How are y’all? I thought today I’d share some TV listing with you so you can see some of your favorites in other roles. Let’s start with something that fits the season shall we?

Felicity Huffman stars in the movie Christmas With the Kranks along side Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis. They play a couple who decide to cancel Christmas and go on a cruise instead only to be faced with neighborhood protests. Felicity plays a character named “Merry”. It airs on FX today at 5 PM and again at 9 PM.

Think you know Eva Longoria? A new show called Celebrity Says will put that to the test. It’s described as a game show that uses red carpet quotes and footage to test people’s knowledge of actors. That airs on the TV Guide Channel at 11 AM on December 1st.

Teri Hatcher is paying another visit to The View (the Housewives seem to love this show) on November 26th, just in time for the new episode airing on the 30th. That airs on ABC at 11AM.

Finally… let’s talk about someone who is new to Wysteria Lane: Lily Tomlin. She’s the guest star on several reruns in the next couple days. Today, at 11AM, she’ll be on Will and Grace (Lifetime). Tomorrow, she’s the guest on Murphy Brown at 5AM on TV Land. On the 23rd, she’s in the movie The Beverly Hillbillies, airing on Fox Movie Channel at 4:45 PM. For those of you who don’t know the actress very well, here’s your chance to catch up. She’s the subject of an episode of Biography airing at 1 PM on the Bio Channel.

Well, there you go… where you can see the Housewives this week. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time. I leave you with a clip of an interview with Lily and Kathryn Joosten. Beware, cause I haven’t been able to watch it- could be spoilery. I’ll post again later once I get a chance to watch it and let ya know if it’s safe.

Casting Dish

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Good morning everyone!! I have some dish for ya today and most of it’s of the spoiler variety. If you’re spoiler-free and wanna stay that way, I’d mosey on over to this blog. Or maybe this one(more…)

Update and Ratings Time!

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! I got some news for you if you’re a fan of Gary Cole (The Brady Bunch movies, Katherine’s Ex on Housewives). He’s been pretty busy ever since he ended his trip to Wysteria Lane. He was on Pineapple Express, Office Space and he even had a pilot called Good Behavior. Now? He’s got a steady role.

He’ll be starring on HBO’s series Entourage as Andrew Klein, a friend of Ari Gold. Like a lot of other roles, this wasn’t supposed to be a full-time gig at first. Gary guest-starred on the show this season for three episodes and producers have decided to bring him in full time. He’ll start filming on the show’s six season early next year. Watch for him to hit the airwaves in Summer 2009. Congrats to him on his new part. This, of course, means that it’s like Good Behavior will go nowhere. It wasn’t picked up as a midseason show earlier this year.

In other news, I just saw some quick numbers for Sunday’s episode and they’re pretty good. The show got a 15.62 rating, which is slightly higher than last week’s numbers, making it the number 1 show in it’s timeslot. It’s also tops with viewers 18-49, an advertiser’s favorite demographic. Once the final numbers are in, I’ll let you know. Whether the numbers stay the same or go up when those come out, it’s good news for the show and I think is reflecting how well this time jump has worked. It really did re-energize things. Something a show in year 5 badly needs usually.

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya next time with some great quotes from the episode.

Time to Dish…

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Good morning everyone!! I hope you’re all ready for the weekend and a new Housewives episode… I know I am. In the meantime, let’s talk some news…

There are plenty of new faces coming to Wysteria Lane this year and they’re not done adding people yet! This time, we’re going to have Rachael Harris coming on the show in a guest spot. She’ll be playing a reporter who interviews Bree, according to Entertainment Weekly. I, for one, am thrilled! I loved her when she did the commentary for VH1’s “I Love The…” Specials (even though I think those are going way too far now. Can we wait for the first decade of the new millennium to end at least before we start getting all nostalgic about it?). She’s done much more than that, though. She’s a member of the famous Groundlings improv group and has guest starred on shows like “SeaQuest DSV”, “Star Trek: Voyager”, “The Daily Show”, “Monk” and “Fat Actress”. She’s also appeared on “Notes from the Underbelly”, a sitcom on ABC, as Cooper.

Eva Longoria is looking to get out the vote this year. I’m sure y’all remember that she was part of a political even surrounding the Democratic convention. This time, she’s going to be speaking to college students about how important it is to vote. She’ll be speaking at New Mexico Starte University’s Corbet Center in Las Cruces. It’ll happen on Sunday at 11:45 in the morning. Adam Rodriquez from “CSI: Miami” will be there, as well.

Speaking of voting… SAG negotiators are looking to get SAG membership to vote authorizing a strike. They say it will give them some more power in their negotiations with producers. Can you believe they’re still trying that? I don’t get why they don’t just take the new AFTRA and other unions have. Dragging things out like this is really not doing anyone any good. I think that actors are going to be too smart to vote to strike or actually do it after the mess caused by the writer’s walk out. Come on actors…. prove me right.

Well, that’s all for now. Have a great weekend and I’ll see y’all again on Monday!

They’re gonna need a bigger street….

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Wow, guys… Wysteria Lane is really experiencing a population boom right now. First, we had Susan’s new guy…. then a man for Edie, new kids and another new addition in Gail O’Grady. Well, they aren’t done yet. At least, according to OK! Magazine. The magazine has reported that Lily Tomlin will be appearing on the show as well!

For those who don’t know her, she’s a legendary comedian who starred in The Incredible Shrinking Woman. She also has a famous character who appeared in Laugh-In skits called Edith Ann. She was a bratty kid who would sit in a huge rocking chair. Besides all that, she was also in 9-to-5, The Magic School Bus and A Prairie Home Companion. Not a bad resume, huh? Personally, I loved Edith Ann. She was hilarious. Here’s a clip of her playing the character on an episode of Sesame Street.

Lily will be playing the sister of an unnamed character who ends up getting sick and apparently needs her help. Let the guessing games begin!! I think we can rule out most of the main cast on this one. Time to look at new and supporting characters to figure this one out. Feel free to share your theories on the comments here. If you have any spoilers, though, please make sure to give people lots of warning so they can avoid em if they want.

Well, I better get going now. It’s time to get some stuff done around here. Sigh… where’s a Bree when I need one? Don’t worry, though. I didn’t forget about the recaps. I’ll post one or two over the weekend instead of waiting until Monday to post again. Til then, take care and see y’all next time!
