What I See or Press Time!

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Good morning! After seeing a preview last night for the new season showing the gang 5 years later, I got to thinking about what the future might hold for some other current and former residents….

Betty Applewhite is still living in Chicago and ends up meeting a famous media mogul named Karen who once lived on the Lane. Once they discover this common link, they bond over how insane everyone there is and become best buddies. Betty even gets to be on TV with her as a sidekick.

After having framed Paul for her murder, Felicia is still living it up in her quiet cabin where she regularly reads papers to keep up with what’s going on on the Lane. After finding out Paul was paroled, she hires someone to track him down and, being the crazy woman she is, follows him and continues to drive him crazy from a distance. She does such a good job, he eventually gets dragged into a mental hospital ranting about the “dead” woman who is harrassing him. Felicia is finally satisfied.

Mrs. McClusky, having had enough of the Scavo kids bad behavior, quits as their babysitter and moves to a beach house in Florida. After enduring a few hurricanes, she decides the Scavo kids are a better alternative and rushes back.

Danielle decides to cash in on her mom’s newfound fame by threatening to write a tell-all book unless Bree agrees to keep her in designer clothes and jewelry. Bree enlists Karl to go and issue yet another smackdown and Danielle drops the whole thing.

Speaking of Karl… he’s still with Ms. Perfect and continues to push Susan’s buttons and make her feel like a loser. Little Maynard miraculously has survived to see his school years despite Susan’s klutziness and has already started to assume the “Julie” role.

So what do you all think is in store for these and other characters we’ve seen over the years? Share your thoughts in the comments… I’d love to see. In other Housewives news, Marc Cherry will be participating in a panel discussion during the TCA Summer Press Tour. That will be held on the 17th at 2PM. A Desperate Houswives Panel featuring Felicity, Teri, Eva, Marcia, Nicollette, Dana and Marc will be held the same day at 5PM. As details are released, I’ll be sure to share! By the way… the Emmy nominees will be announced that same day at 5AM. Good luck to the cast!

I’ll leave you today with a look at a fan-made promo courtesy of Youtube. It’s kinda cool and should tide us over a bit until the official ones start coming out. I saw one last night and it looked good, but isn’t available anywhere. Based on it, though, I think this new season is gonna be good. The cast has obviously been hard at work to have a promo ready this fast. Well, that’s all for now. See ya next time!

Here We Go Again…

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Talk about beating a dead horse! Dana Delaney, the newest official housewife recently gave an interview where there was nothing new covered! Apparently, they actually asked her about that now-infamous Vanity Fair shoot early in the show’s run. She, of course, denied there were any issues among them now and everyone gets along fine. What I want to know is… why do people even bother asking about that anymore? Have they not seen the pictures out there of the cast being totally friendly with each other? With no new reports of tension either, I wonder why some reporters are so, excuse the pun, desperate to keep that particular one going. She also yet again discussed being the first choice for Bree and trying not to kick herself for turning it down. Either they threw about of stuff together because it was a slow news day or there is a reporter out there somewhere who seriously needs to start doing their research.

In other news, SAG and the Studios are at a stalemate right now. Apparently, the producer’s final offer was not to SAG’s liking and they spent several hours discussing the issue with no resolution. Members of the other union, AFTRA, voted to approve their separate deal with producers earlier this week. So far, everyone is still committed to working. I’ll bring you more on the story as it’s available.

Finally… let’s turn to the TV to see where you can see some of the cast while you’re waiting for new episodes. Teri Hatcher is in Tomorrow Never Dies, airing on SPIKE. She plays an ex-girlfriend of Bond who is now someone’s trophy wife. It airs on the 19th at 9:30 AM eastern. Marcia Cross, meanwhile, can be seen on Lifetime Movie Network on the 17th at 10 AM eastern. The movie is called Living in Fear and features our favorite overzealous housewife as the wife of a man who returns to his hometown after 20 years to find a whole lot of drama going on. Keep an eye out also for a young Doug Savant. He has a part in the movie Teen Wolf. That will air on the 15th at 7:45 AM eastern on AMC.

Well, that’s all for now. See you all later with more recaps!

Aloha!

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! Well, it’s Monday and you know what that means. No, I’m not talking about heading back into the office. I mean, it’s time to dish about our favorite show! I hope you all had a great weekend and you’re ready to get down to business. I know I am!

felicity-and-william.jpg

First off, Marcia, Eva and Teri aren’t the only ones who have been out and about lately. Felicity Huffman traveled to the Islands to attend the 2008 Maui Film Festival. She was on hand to accept the Nova award in honor of her many TV, film and theatre roles. She also screened her latest movie, Phoebe in Wonderland. Felicity plays the mother of a young girl who has trouble following rules. That wasn’t all, though! Felicity also managed to squeeze in some fun in the sun with her husband and daughters. Gotta love the Macy family. They’re definitely on my list of favorite celebs for being so low-key and normal.

Anyway…. on another part of the Islands, a local TV station gave us some insight into one of the newest cast members: 6-year-old Kaili Say, who plays one of Gabby’s daughters. Kaili and her 10-year-old sister, Brandi, had spent months in LA doing print work in addition to small acting jobs and were about to go back home when the word came Kaili had won the part. Needless the say, the family has decided to stay put. Good luck to the Say family! It can be hard to be a kid in Hollywood.

Finally, Dana Delaney revealed in a recent interview that, barring an actor’s strike, the cast will be returning to work on July 7th. I was surprised to learn that Marc Cherry actually filled her in on what was up with her mystery before hand. I thought he was pretty secretive about that kind of stuff. She also assured all the Edie fans out there Nicollette will be back. Good to know Edie really does still have a place on the show. She’s fun.

Well, that’s all for now. Stay tuned throughout the week for any breaking news, recaps and other stuff. Take care and see ya next time!

What You Won’t Hear from the Housewives….

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! Ya know, there have been some crazy lines on this show over the years! Still, there are some things I think even the Housewives won’t be saying any time soon. Here are just some of them….

10-Bree: You know what? I’m really tired. Those dishes can wait until the morning.
9-Susan: Julie, you need to be more responsible. I can’t keep cleaning up your messes for you.
8-Gabrielle: No, I don’t think I’ll take that dress. It costs too much money. (Well, ok… maybe we’ll hear that one!)
7-Mary Alice: These people are really starting to bore me! I should’ve just ran away from home.
6-Susan: Whatever that new neighbor is up to is none of my business.
5-Carlos: Gabby, you look bored. Why don’t you take my credit card and do some shopping?
4-Orson: Bree’s too much trouble. I should’ve hooked up with Edie when I had the chance…
3-Edie: I think I’m going to join a convent.
2-Felicia: I was wrong to frame Paul for my murder. I should go back and get him out of jail. The poor guy doesn’t deserve being locked up like that.
1-Kayla: I’m sorry for all the bad things I did, Lynette. Can we be friends?

dana-in-monte-carlo.jpgWhat do you think? Add your own here in the comments if you like. I’d love to see them! Before I leave, I wanted to share a picture I found of Dana Delaney. She was in Monaco yesterday to promote the show as part of the 2008 Monte Carlo Television Festival. While she was there, she even went on a shopping spree with Mel B, of all people! How’s that for an unusual pairing? The TV show Extra was on hand to film their trip to a Cartier store. Well, that’s all for now. See ya next time!

Actor and Actress of the Week

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

The finale had many great scenes and some great acting in it. Still, there were two that stood out to me this time: Doug Savant and Dana Delaney.

doug-savant.jpg I’ve made no secret of the fact I haven’t been thrilled with Tom’s behavior lately regarding Kayla and the fact he seemed to be blaming Lynette for what happened. Still, for the first time this week, his performance sold me on what I understood to be beneath it all the whole time. Tom knows there’s a problem, but it’s unlike anything they’ve ever dealt with before. The truth about Kayla is just too much for him to accept. I especially loved the scene when Kayla is leaving and crying for Tom to let her stay. While I agree with those who think that was a calculated move by Kayla, I still liked it because of Doug Savant. You could see the pain on his face as he struggles to do what he has to do instead of giving in to his kid’s tears. Reality has come crashing down and he’s facing it.

dana-at-the-fifi-awards.jpgI adore Dana Delaney on this show. Katherine is making an excellent buddy for Bree and I see her bringing a lot to the group in the future. This week, though, I especially loved her performance during the big reveal. When Katherine screams after finding OriginalDylan’s lifeless body, I got chills. I also loved how she also was able to perfectly show a combination of pain and detachment while watching her daughter be buried. She knows what she’s doing is wrong, but she doesn’t feel she has a choice so she’s trying to distance herself emotionally. She also did great during the scene with Teri Hatcher when she’s trying to find NewDylan. Dana was wearing her desperation on her sleeve and made me feel it, too. Kudos to the both of them! I’m looking forward to seeing what they do next season.

Well, that’s it for today. Take care and I’ll see y’all tomorrow with the DVD talk I promised.

Dana On Leno!

Friday, May 16th, 2008

Hello, again! Well, apparently technology doesn’t like me too much because The View didn’t tape. I’ll still be recapping Teri’s appearance tonight, though. For now? Let’s talk Dana Delaney!
dana-delaney.jpg
She was on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night and she was a blast, with several interesting tidbits coming out of the appearance. First off, she said the season officially wrapped on Tuesday, so she’s starting to travel again. Jay asked what her favorite place was. She said she likes Brazil the best because it’s a combination of sexy and innocent. She also revealed a new talent: trapeze work! A friend of hers was taping lessons and talked Dana into going with her. She said she actually did pretty well, although she was a bit hung over at the time of the lesson. Another interesting fact was she was originally offered the part of Bree on Housewives, but turned it down because the character was too similar to another one she had recently played. After a little guy talk (she’s single, but dating), Jay told her he had an old laundry detergent commercial of hers to play from 1985.

Before she’d let him play it, she said there was a funny story behind that one. As they were filming the commercial, she noticed something crawling in the guy’s hair. He responded with “I thought I got rid of those….” Later on, she ends up coming down with them because the stylist had used the same brush on both of them, which she then passed on to then-boyfriend Treat Williams. Well, come to find out that the guy from the commercial was actually gay and after she told him what had happened, the guy started telling people he gave them to Treat Williams. Jay Leno called it “the best story every told on the tonight show.” It was also the last commercial that Dana ever did. After she told her story, he played the commercial.

And there you have it: Dana Delaney on the Tonight Show. Til now, I hadn’t seen her do an interview before. Now that I have, she’s one of my favorites. Can Teri Hatcher bring it later tonight? We’ll see! For now, have a great weekend and don’t forget the new episode on Sunday night.
