Desperate Housewives

Don’t. Just because the finale is upon us, that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to see your favorites on TV regularly. Besides the reruns on Lifetime of earlier seasons, the cast is going to be all over your TV and I’ll be keeping you up-to-date on when.

During the rest of this week, you can see Teri Hatcher on The View and The Late Show with David Letterman on the 16th.

Marcia Cross will star in a Seinfeld episode on the 17th. That will air on TBS at 6:30 PM.

Look for Eva Longoria Parker on HBOSGe. Her movie The Sentinal will air on the 16th at 9:45 AM and 11 PM.

Wanna see Brenda Strong instead of just hearing her do the voice-overs? Now’s your chance. She’s going to be in a Seinfeld episode airing on TBS today at 5:30 PM. You can also catch her on HBOSGe in The Deep End of the Ocean.

Reaper isn’t the only place to see Richard Burgi. You can also catch him in Just Shoot Me on TBS. That will air on the 16th at 2:30 PM.

Catch Orson himself, Kyle McLaughlen on the 17th when he stars in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me on IFC. That will air at 11:15 PM.

Dana Delaney will be on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on the 15th at 11:35 PM as well as guest starring on an episode of Cheers. You can see that on TVLand on the 16 at 8 AM. Don’t forget her role in Tombstone, either. That airs on SHOe at 8 AM on the 18th.

By the way…. I’m sure many of you are aware that Marcia was a regular on Melrose Place in the 90s. She played Dr. Kimberly Shaw, someone who makes Bree look like the definition of well adjusted. Well, here’s a clip I found of her from the show. It’s arguably her most famous scene in the whole serious. Well, with the exception of the time she blew the whole building up…

Again, sorry for the lack of story in the last week.  It doesn’t look to be any better this week, what with the illness that has befallen this house and the fact that there is no new episode to talk about!  Yep, the American Music Awards preempted last night’s episode so we’ll get to see it next week instead.  Good news is:  It’s the tornado episode so it’ll be well worth waiting for.

In the meantime, what’s been happening in the world of “Desperate Housewives” that I’ve neglected to share with you?  Plenty!

Rumors are rampant that Nicolette Sheridan is pregnant.  This is because apparently she asked Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman some questions about how they were affected by their pregnancies.  Oh, and she’s “glowing”.  Shoot, I’m pregnant and I can tell that isn’t a glow.  It’s acne.  But whatever.

Speaking of babies, Eva wants to have children and plans to leave Hollywood when the time comes to put children into the picture.  She dreams of being home in Texas and taking care of her family.  Some of the rumors would love you to believe that she hopes to quit within the year, but I doubt that’s the case.  I think she’ll stick it out a while longer.

Contrary to this news, there are reports that Eva wants to open a restaurant in Hollywood serving Mexican-American food.  That would give her yet another tie to the West Coast which seems to go against all reports  of her wanting to settle down in Texas but I take it at face value.

Eva has rounded up the rest of her co-stars to attend the Spice Girl’s reunion concert in Los Angeles on December 5.   She and Teri Hatcher, Nicollette Sheridan, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross will all be in attendance.  This is no surprise for Eva, as she has become close friends with Victoria Beckham, and it’s nice that she was able to get her castmates to join her for a night out.  Should be a good show, if Mel B’s dancing is any judge!

The ratings this week were good, even better than last week when they got clobbered by the big NFL game.  This week, the “Housewives” came out on top.  They had 17.8 million viewers for the night and were first in the 18-49 demographic, even against the football game the White Sox winning the last game of the pennant.  It seems this season is building up a good head of steam so far, and word about how good the episodes are is being spread.  This can only be good news, right?

In other news, Eva Longoria has chosen to take her husband’s last name.   Now, I’m unsure whether this means she will be Eva Parker or Eva Longoria Parker.  So until I know for sure either way, I’m just going to keep calling her Eva Longoria.  Besides, Eva Parker sorta weirds me out and Eva Longoria Parker is too much of a mouthful.  According to the newlywed, “I actually completely adopted the new name and I love it - I’m a Parker now!  I love every bit of it - I like the tradition of changing the name.” Also, everyone’s been calling her Mrs. Parker down in Texas and she’s just loving that as well.

I can remember how it felt when I got married and changed my last name so I can appreciate how she’s feeling.  It is exciting and one more way to make your new union all that much more real.  So more power to her, it’s nice to see someone else (particularly a celebrity) get excited about the little things in marriage.

That’s all the “Desperate Housewives” news for today.  After the Filipino furor, things seem to be finally dying down thank goodness so we can finally get back to some normal news around here.

It does seem like it’s been a while since Eva Longoria was last in a feature length film, doesn’t it?  I guess that’s why I wasn’t too surprised to see this next headline.  It looks like Eva has a new movie lined up and it’s a comedy.  The film, “Lower Learning” will be directed by Mark Lafferty who previously worked on the parody horror/comedy flick “The Seventh Sense”.  The basic premise is that of school officials investigating a school with the lowest test scores in the state.  Eva will be playing the role of one of the investigators and will discover all sorts of corruption within the school.  Jason Bigg’s is her co-star, as the vice principal of Barry Goldwater Elementary school.

Production will start on the film this week (maybe today, even!) and I’m unsure how this will work with Eva’s “Housewives” schedule but I’m sure she has it all figured out.  Expect to see the movie hit theaters later next year sometime.

Eva was previously in “The Sentinal” which came out in 2006.  Before that, she was in a variety of “B” movies and television shows.  According to her IMDB profile,  she has recently worked on a couple of other projects.  One, “Foodfight!”, providing voice work on what sounds to be an animated feature is in post-production and should be due out in 2008.  The other, “Over My Dead Body” is a romantic comedy in which Eva will play either a ghost or a psychic (I’m not sure which), but whichever it is, it’s a starring role.  This movie will be out early in 2008 and is already completed.

While the news that Eva Longoria has been asked by “Desperate Housewives” producer and creator Marc Cherry not to have any children right away isn’t exactly new, the details have been sketchy until now.  For Eva to get pregnant, and to have that pregnancy written into the show (which it would virtually have to be because of Eva’s slender frame and the show’s propensity towards showing off her curves), would destroy a years worth of plot lines for her character, Gaby.  Right now, she’s supposed to be growing, confused with who she is and where she is going and there’s no room in the storyline for the sudden responsibility of parenthood.  Eva is reportedly anxious to start a family with her new husband Tony Parker, but is willing to wait the year she promised to Cherry in order to better serve the show.

She has been quoted as saying, “Tony and I are excited about starting a family, but because Marc has forbidden me to get pregnant this year we’re going to spend time as a married couple and build a solid foundation together before we bring our child into the world.”  Which is really a good plan for the newlyweds.  Get to know one another and enjoy one another before adding the dimension of parenthood to your resume.  And who knows, maybe this means in a year’s time that Gaby (and Eva, of course) will be sporting a pregnancy bump and a fantastic storyline to go along with it.  All I can say is I hope it’ll be Carlos’ baby.

Rumors were flying around the internet on Tuesday about a reported sex tape starring Eva Longoria and her new husband Tony Parker.  Word was, this tape was available (or would be made to) on a pay adult site.  Sounded a little fishy, when I first heard it (which is why I reported on ratings instead).  Everything I’ve heard of Eva and Tony since their wedding back in July has led me to believe this couple is actually quite a bit on the conservative side.  Which is why I found it difficult to believe Eva had gone the route of Paris Hilton and made a sex tape.

Turns out?  I was mostly right.   Apparently this tape is the latest spoof to make it’s way to Will Ferrell’s website Funny or Die.  Remember that hysterical video of him arguing with his two year old drunkard landlady?  Yeah, that’s the site.

Longoria spoke to radio DJ (and all around entertainment czar these days) Ryan Seacrest about the video yesterday, saying, “I’m so amused. It’s so funny. Oh my gosh. I’ve gotten like 100 calls on it saying it’s so hilarious.”  Where did this idea come from? “We’ve got this comedian called Perry Hilton, who does everything that Paris Hilton does. If you go on there, he’s gotten a DUI. He goes out clubbing … So, they go, ‘We want to do a sex video in that night vision – kind of like the one she did.’ “  Okay, that sort of makes sense.  And you have to admit, it’s pretty clever.  The marketing for this (and as it happens, the Funny or Die website) was genius.  Get the internet and celebrity hounds buzzing and speculating first and then spill the beans.

Let’s hope we see more spoofs like this show up on Will’s genius site.  I love it when celebrities don’t take themselves (or each other) too seriously.

This is just the sort of news story I expect to see about Eva Longoria these days. Even so, I wanted to share it with you because I found it amusing. Apparently, Eva recently told The Times of India newspaper (I think that’s where this story originated, at least) that hates kissing men other than her husband.

“I hate the kissing. Kissing is the most intimate thing. It was weird for me before I was married. I’m not sure Tony’s happy with it, but he’s not the crazy husband about it. We don’t talk about it because it’s just not a comfortable thing to talk about.”

That might be a conversation they want to think about having, don’t you think?  Apparently, marriage has brought out the inner prude in Eva because she also recently refused to sign some more revealing photos of herself saying she “didn’t like them” and instead chose to autograph some more demure shots.  Interesting.

I’m sorry I didn’t post yesterday.  A weekend trip turned into a family emergency and we didn’t arrive home until yesterday evening.  It’s good to be back and scouring the headlines once again.  And you may have heard that the Primetime Emmy Awards were Sunday night.  The show might not have won, but the women looked fantastic.  As far as I can tell, Nicolette Sheridan wasn’t in attendance, but all the other women were and I found their dresses (save for Eva’s) all had a common theme.  They all looked very nice, as you can see below.  If you’d like to see each image larger, simply click on it.

Perhaps she’s trying to deflect rumors that their marriage is on the rocks, maybe she’s trying to back up her earlier claims that she and Tony are making efforts to be together or maybe she just felt like having dinner with her husband.  Whatever the reason, Eva Longoria had a day off of work last week and flew to Geneva, Switzerland to have dinner with her husband Tony Parker.  Seems like a grand romantic gesture.  Or a desperate stunt for the media.  According to Eva:

“Tony and I make each other a priority, so we travel a lot.  He was off for two days, and he flew home from Paris to see me and then flew back. I’ve done that many a time. I went for dinner to Geneva, because I was off for one day. I flew to Geneva, had dinner with him and flew back. We just can’t stand to be apart.”

I’m not sure on this one.  I think it could easily go both ways.  If there truly is no ulterior motive in her actions, then I think it’s great.  But if she’s trying to manipulate public opinion, I think that’s just sad.

Whether or not her marriage fizzles as the cast of “Desperate Housewives” is predicting or not, Eva says she still wishes her honeymoon could have lasted longer.  She had to cut her holiday a little short in order to return to the states to start filming on “Desperate Housewives” for the next season.  She says, “I didn’t want to come back to work so soon.”  Considering the frosty temperatures that seem to exist on the set once again, it’s not hard to imagine why.  But she also misses her husband.  While she’s hard at work in LA, he’s back to basketball in San Antionio.  The two have a “rule” that no more than two weeks can pass before they see each other again.

All joking aside, I wish them the best.  Their marriage is their business and their business alone.

Just when you were starting to think that maybe the women on “Desperate Housewives” might actually be getting along, rumors are flying that quite the opposite is true.  Apparently, cast members have been taking bets on when Eva Longoria’s marriage will fall apart.  This is, of course, according to a report to be published by the National Enquirer so take it with a grain of salt.

And the bets aren’t all, either.  According to the magazine,  the women are arguing about everything from scripts to photo shoots to trailers.  An insider on the set has revealed:

“The cat claws are out like never before, and the actresses’ inability to get along is causing headaches for producers, writers and crew members. And the one joke that’s keeping a smile on people’s faces is at Eva’s expense.”

This all sounds absolutely absurd to me and I hope that something is resolved soon.  Why is it that women can’t work together without the gossip swirling that they are all at each other’s throats?  How about everyone just settles down and makes a good show this season?  Is that possible?

It’s been barely over a month since their July 7th nuptials and already there are rumors flying around Tinsel Town that Eva Longoria and Tony Parker are having some marital troubles. Over what, you might ask? Apparently Eva sees herself as one half of a Hollywood SuperCouple, much like Posh and Becks or Tom and Katie. And in order to be a SuperCouple, she and Tony need to hit the parties, red carpets and otherwise be noticed about town (wearing fabulous clothes, no less). And, unfortunately for Eva, Tony is a fan of his privacy and would rather enjoy some quiet time at home alone. Apparently, he doesn’t dig Eva always wanting to go out and her wanting him to accompany her. Sounds like they’re going to have to come to an understanding on this pretty soon, because this could become a rather large bone of contention for the newlyweds!

There aren’t any children in the immediate future for newlyweds Eva Longoria and Tony Parker, but there have been discussions.  And one thing the pair have discussed is wanting their children to speak three languages.   This is to reflect the languages that they themselves are fluent in.  Eva is fluent in both Spanish and English whereas Tony is fluent in both French and English.  It makes sense and would definitely give those kids a leg up, especially when it comes to high school foreign language classes!  And, of course, it’s always easier to learn a new language when you’re a child than when you’re an adult.

And, can I just say that I think Eva’s new hairstyle is just adorable?  I hope this one is here to stay because I think it looks fabulous on her.

All wedding-talk aside, you do remember that Eva Longoria is the new face of Bebe Sport, right? Shots from her recent photoshoot for the clothing company have been released and they are definitely fabulous. Take a look and tell me what you think. The storyline of Gabby on “Desperate Housewives” being a former model doesn’t seem quite so far fetched at the moment, does it?

Desperate Blog recently posted some pictures of Eva and Tony’s honeymoon and I just have to say, “Who died?” The pictures look like they were taken as the couple was traveling about the island on a golf cart-esque vehicle and playing tennis.  And they just look so… happy.  Don’t they?  If you’d like to take a peek at the rest, head on over to Desperate Blog and have a peek.  But just so you’re clear, this was a honeymoon, not a funeral.
