Breaking Housewives News

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

nicolletteHello again. Is it just me, or can some people just not make up their minds about keeping a certain person on this show? ABC just announced that Nicollette Sheridan will be leaving Desperate Housewives this season, presumably for good. Yeah, I know. I’m getting deja vu, too. For anyone not in the loop, she was gone for awhile after Edie tried to blackmail Bree. The ladies basically threatened to ruin her and she decided to go away for awhile. There was no other information given in the statement about why she’s leaving again or what’s going to happen to Edie. There are already a few rumors floating around, but they’re a little spoilery. I’ll put em behind a cut for ya. If you wanna know keep going. Otherwise here’s a couple cool blogs for ya. (more…)

Promo and Info

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

Hello, again!! How’s it going? Well, here we are: another week with no episodes to discuss. There will be one this Sunday, though, and here’s some info about it. I know episode descriptions are not really spoilers, but I’m gonna put it all behind a cut anyway, cause I know some people like to avoid even those. Read on if you wanna see what the next episodes about. Otherwise, here’s a couple links for ya to check out. First, here’s another promo. It was posted by Brent 0788:

From the Rumor Mill…

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

Good morning everyone! Do I have some news to spill today! Now, I’m sure you all remember me reporting that Marc has said the series will be ending with its 7th Season. This was partly because he can’t stand the thought of anyone messing with his ‘baby’. Well, get ready for a little twist.

E!Online says an insider has revealed to him that the show will actually be going for another two years (seasons 8 and 9). While it’s not 100% on paper, the insider says Marc revealed the news while cutting a cake. I can only assume that means he delivered the news during the 100th episode celebration.

I’m kinda mixed on this news, actually. Don’t get me wrong. I adore the show and think everyone is very talented. In fact, I think this season has been its strongest year since Season 1. I’m also encouraged by how the show seemed to get better towards the end of Season 4 and has continued to get strong after they jumped into the future in season 5.

Still, I think of some of the other really long running shows and realize it’s hard to keep the quality going for such a long period of time. Can the Housewives crew step up to the challenge and break the series decline trend? Only time will tell and you know I’ll be there watching it all play out.

So, assuming this is true- what do you all think? Are you happy? A little nervous? Annoyed? Post your thoughts in the comments below. I’d love to read them. Til next time… take care!

SAG and Unlikely Pairings…

Monday, November 24th, 2008

I promised to update you as the situation changed, so here’s the lasted on SAG and the Producers union. Apparently, certain leaders of SAG have decided to launch a campaign designed to get their members to vote on whether or not to strike since the latest talks failed (once again, thanks to new media). Considering how well the last big walkout went, I wonder what they’re thinking and hope this gets voted down fast.

Let’s face it- times are really tough right now and the industry (not to mention California’s economy) is still recovering from the writer’s strike. Doing it again and putting many costume designers, prop people, crew members, etc. out of work at a time like this is unthinkable to me. Especially since they get no residuals and probably work much harder. Let’s hope cool heads prevail and California and the economy at large doesn’t take another big hit.

In some slightly better Housewives-related news… guess who’s got a new guy? Nicollette Sheridan! She was spotted out the other night celebrating her birthday with some kisses at a restaurant. Who’s the new guy? I hardly believe it, either… David Spade. Yes, he who also once dated Heather Locklear. All I have to say is- this guy must have one heck of a personality. Congrats to the new couple and good luck in the future.

So, is SAG out of their minds? Did Nicollette trade up or down? Let me know what you think! And don’t forget- new episodes return on Sunday night. I’ll, of course, be here to fill ya in on everything that happens. Til next time… take care!

Desperate Dishing

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Well, Gale Harold fans…. there’s not a whole lot to say right now. No new reports have been released regarding his condition. There is, however, a statement by fellow actor Scott Lowell that came out on his official site the other day. Lowell says that out of respect for Gale’s privacy, all he’ll say is the actor is making improvements every day and he’s surrounded by love and support. He asks for the well wishes to keep on coming. Lowell co-starred with Gale on Queer as Folk.

Like Jesse Metcalfe? Well, according to the rumor mill, you just might be seeing him on TV soon. Well, in Britain, anyway. Some reports are saying he’s set to appear on the new season of the reality show I’m a celebrity… get me out of here. There was an American version that aried here for a couple seasons as well. Guess America didn’t feel like making a hit out of every reality import that comes here. If he does end up appearing, it wouldn’t be a total surprise, since he had an off-and-on relationship with a member of British girl group Girls Aloud.

Finally, it’s rumored that Eva has also said she’s interested in getting into the fashion biz with her own line. She supposedly credited that to buddy Victoria Beckham during a radio interview. I’ll let you know if anything comes of it. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is true, either. It seems like it’s practically a law now for stars to develop fashion and accessory lines.

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya tomorrow!!

Desperate Quotes and Burning Questions…

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! So, I promised I was going to share some favorite quotes from the episode today and I will. First, though, I wanna know what you all thought of the episode. Feel free to comment and share your own reviews… did you like the situations they found themselves in now? Are you as disturbed as I am by the fact Edie and her husband look like they’re fraternal twins? Is Carlos right about Juanita, or do you side with Gabby (for the record- I’m in total agreement with Gabby, but I do think Carlos has a point, too. The situation has to be handled delicately to avoid Juanita have problems later on)? Do you think Susan is being way too hard on herself and Mike over the accident (I think that Susan is perfectly justified in feeling some guilt here. I just think she took it way too far… at some point, she needs to get some professional help and realize that there was neither car was at fault in this and sometimes really crappy stuff happens)?

Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis

Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis

And now… some quotes-

Bree: Andrew, dear, I’m going to take a little break. Will you tell this gentlemen that if he calls me ‘sweetie’ one more time, I’m going to grab that camera and take a picture of his colon?
Andrew (to the man, off his look): Did you get that?

Lynette (about Edie): She’s ba-ack…

Edie (to Gabrielle): What happened to you? I mean, the clothes, the hair? Carlos may be blind, that the rest of us aren’t!

Lynette (after Dave manages to get Edie to be nice and bake muffins): Please don’t take this the wrong way, but we love you.

Bree (about Katheryn accusing her of stealing her recipes for the book): Don’t be silly! I may have based a few on your recipes, but I always changed something.
Kathryn: Like what, the font?

Edie: Mrs. McClusky… you’re still alive!
Karen: It’s nice to see you, too, Edie.
Edie: This is my husband, Dave Williams.
Karen: Where’d you guys meet? Do you own a free clinic or something?

Well, that’s it for now. See y’all next time with more!! Take care.

Let’s Dish….

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Hey, everyone… how’s it going? Don’t you just love Fridays? I know I do. Especially when there’s a new Desperate Housewives season only two days away. Get ready, guys…. the reviews have been coming in and they’re overall really good. I think this is gonna be a pretty interesting season based on the sneak peaks and reviews out there. While we’re waiting, why don’t we dish a little?

Did you know there’s such a thing as the “Desperate Housewives Disease”? According to Dana Delany, there is. She says a costume designer warned her about it when she first joined the show. Apparently, it’s code for “don’t get too caught up in losing weight” since many of the people on the show have fallen into that trap and are kind of competitive about it. Dana does say, though, that Teri is very naturally thin. I have to say, this makes me a bit sad. I hope they snap out of it before it gets too out of hand and they’re having to stage 90210-like interventions. That wasn’t the only thing Dana revealed…

Did you know she was going to play Carrie on Sex and the City? She said she was offered the part by her friend Darren Star, but turned it down because it was too similar to another part that wasn’t received very well. She’s cool with it, though. She admitted that if she’d gotten the part it would’ve made it a different show that might not have made it as big. Gotta love an actress who can admit to something like that, huh?

Finally…. Eva’s made a new friend! Recent reports have announced that Eva sent a bottle of champaign to a baseball player by the name Evan Longoria to celebrate his success. He returned the favor by sending her a Tampa Bay Rays shirt. I like that. Wonder if we’re gonna see her and Tony showing up at baseball games now…

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all Monday with our very first recap of the season.

Emmys…

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Hey, everyone!! So, did anyone watch the Emmys this weekend? I didn’t get a chance to, but I did find some cute clips from the red carpet. This first one is Teri Hatcher talking with Lisa Rinna of the TVGuide Channel. Yet again, the whole cat fight issue gets mentioned (in a kind of joking way) because all 6 of the housewives were on stage during the show to present an award. Teri assured them none of that would happen. She couldn’t promise, however, no one would trip over their dresses. So what’s the verdict guys? Did she make the right dress choice? I’m saying yes. I think this yellow really works with her.

Now, we have Eva. She and Tony spoke with TV Guide as well. She talked about ending up late last time and missing the red carpet. I wonder, though why Lisa brought up the same question about them presenting. Teri already mentioned they’d all be on stage. Seems she could’ve used her time with Eva a little differently. Ah well. Speaking of things that could’ve been different… what is that dress Eva’s wearing? I don’t get it at all and she’s definitely not wearing that to combat all the pregnancy rumors still flying. Speaking of Eva… I was informed by someone that this company has designed a phone specially for Eva as an Emmy gift. It has her husband’s name and jersey number on it. Just go to the link and click on their photo galleries to see it. It’s kinda cute. Other guests got these as well, but the “Parker” one was given to her only.

Finally… Kathryn Joosten was recently interviewed about her win for best guest star and proved again why I like her so much. She refused to be considered in any other category cause she didn’t feel it would be right for her to try for anything other than guest star, as that is what her contract has her as. She also joked about how it’s a good thing she won, since now her two sons don’t have to fight over who will get her 2005 Emmy when she passes. There is one for each now. Of course, she still thinks they might disagree about who will get which one. She’s got a great sense of humor about her. Well, I guess that’s all for now. Check back tomorrow, cause I’ll be posting a cool photo of them onstage. Until then, take care!

Another Sneak Peak…

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I found this great preview on youtube of the scene they used in the sneak peak I mentioned Friday. This one is a full scene of Edie and the ladies. Beware, those of you who wanna wait until the premiere…. it’s a little spoilery about Edie, as are my comments about it. If you like spoilers, though…. carry on:

DVD Talk and Baby Watching

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Good morning all! Have I got some dish today, and it’s all about the season 4 DVD. You remember I told you about it’s release date before? Well, there’s so much more I just found out about. Looks like the powers that be have decided to work hard to make this set worth the money, considering it was a condensed season.

There’s the usual features- Marc’s favorite scenes, bloopers and some commentary. This time, though, they’ve added even more commentary to the mix. They’ve also included an alternate ending to the season finale, a feature on the men of the show and an extra disc with pilots for 3 ABC shows: Private Practice, Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money. They apparently got really creative with it too. According to a review out there, there’s a booklet listing the episodes that also serves as a “realty book” for the Lane with ads related to the show (ie, Scavos Pizzeria, Lang for Mayor, etc.) I don’t know about you guys, but this sounds like a set I can actually get excited about owning. I like having series on DVD and all, but having lots of extras makes the money spent much more worth it.

Before I leave, I guess I should mention that the rumor mill is buzzing about Eva. Apparently, some are going a bit nuts because Eva went to a Sushi place and club in Vegas and had no sushi and not a sip of alcohol. Some think this means she’s pregnant. That very well could be, but I’m not ready to join in and start analyzing her stomach. Her avoiding those things could possibly be playing it extra safe, as she has been going on about wanting a kid lately. I say leave it be. If she is and she wants to announce it, let her do it when (or if) she wants to. Do you agree? Let me know! Also, feel free to share your thoughts on the DVD set as well. I’d love to hear them! Til next time, take care!

Eva Pouts, Dana Stands Up

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Hello again, everyone. How are y’all doing today? I hope you’re all well and ready to dish, cause I know I am. Let’s talk Eva Longoria first, shall we? There are a couple reports out there about her.

First off… apparently our Gabby has a bit of a weakness for accents. She mention of a show not long ago that she’s very upset he’s been losing his French accent, replacing it with a Texas drawl. Can’t really blame the guy, can you? I mean, they do spend quite a bit of time in Corpus Christie. How can he not be picking it up? I know I picked up an accent that still comes out once in awhile after only a couple weeks in Alabama. In other Eva news…. I guess I was right about the Housewives baby boom getting to her. There’s another report out there claiming she’s trying hard to have a baby of her own. The odd part? This came from Marc Cherry, who added Eva promised he’d be the first to know. What I want to know is… why is he talking about this instead of letting Eva do all the talking on this topic? Lord knows she’s never been too shy about it.

It’s not all fun and gossip, though. Dana Delaney’s making news for other reasons. She’s announce she’s going to be part of “Stand Up to Cancer”, airing September 5th. She said she’s getting involved because several people close to her have battled the disease and she thinks it’s time we did more to end it. Good for her! I’ll be looking forward to seeing what she does during the show. Others taking part include Balthazar Getty and America Ferrera. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all here again on Monday. Have a great weekend!!

A Guy’s View of Desperate Housewives

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! I thought today I would bring you something a little different. I recently got my boyfriend to watch the show and I thought I’d ask him some questions and get the male point of view about Housewives. Here is what he had to say….

Who is your least favorite character on the show and why? Susan, because she’s an idiot.

Who’s your favorite character and why? Bree is, because she’s hot and the perfect woman.

What do you think about the show jumping ahead five years? I think it’s a good idea. It’s going to open up some fresh storylines and further develop the characters.

What moment(s) on the show have been the most memorable to you? There are two of them. One is Carlos using a chainsaw while they were fighting over their divorce. Another one is Tom telling Lynette she’s going to go to work and support the family after she sabotaged his career.

What story do you wish hadn’t happened on the show? Susan having a baby.

What was your first reaction when you first heard there was a show called desperate housewives and how has that changed since you started watching it? I thought it was gonna be something like Sex in the City. Later on, I saw it’s about how women cope with daily problems.

What “jump” story are you most interested in seeing and finding out how the character got there? I wanna find out how Susan chased Mike away.

Do you think the Housewives should’ve run Edie out of town last season? No, an angry vixen is always a good plot device.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned from watching the show? Never mess with Bree.

So, there you have it: a guy’s thoughts on the show. So, come on now… I know there have to be a bunch of men who watch this show. If you’re out there, why not reply and let me know your own thoughts? I’m sure we ladies would love to hear em.

Felicity The Desperate Houswife or Eva Hates Kissing

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

So, we’ve been having a lot of talk about Felicity lately on the blog. Get ready to hear one more story (I’ll move on to someone else in a minute… I promise!) Felicity recently gave an interview to the New York Daily News where she discussed how she got her part on the show. For anyone who might not know, Felicity was frazzled herself with three kids. She had gone straight from dealing with two screaming ones to her audition. She apparently looked bad enough that the producers thought she was the one right away. She adds that when she admitted some less than wonderful feelings about motherhood, many of the women around “pulled back from me as if I said ‘I eat babies’.” Nice, huh?

Now, as promised, let’s move on. This time, there’s a story out on Eva Longoria. She admits that she hates kissing scenes in her shows and movies. She hates the idea of kissing a man who’s not her husband so much, so tries to talk directors into letting her character hug someone instead. They, of course, don’t go for it. She says that her on-screen husband feels the same way about kissing scenes. Must make for some awkward moments on set. On a related note, it’s hard to believe it’s been a year now since she and Tony Parker were married. Time flies, huh?

Well, that’s about all for today. I’ll see you guys tomorrow, as always, to dish some more about our favorite show.

Felicity Does it Again….

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

Good morning again!! Well, guys…. I’ve got some more good news and bad news for you. Don’t worry, though. I promise today’s bad news won’t leave you with a strong desire to take a shower. At least, it shouldn’t. Oddly enough, it also involves Felicity Huffman. Seriously…. what is she trying to do to us lately? Just kidding.

Part of the fun of a new season is all the polls and special editions of magazines that come out, and TV Guide is usually at the top of that list. This year is no exception. They even included Tom and Lynette in one of their polls. Unfortunately for their fans, it wasn’t exactly a compliment. The magazine recently ranked the Scavos as one of the worst TV couples ever. I personally think that’s a little harsh, but what can ya do? They were ranked second behind George and Izzie of Grey’s Anatomy. Ah well… you can’t win them all. I have to leave the TV Guide people with this moment, however, to disagree with them:

On the brighter side of the polls, TV Guide ranked Desperate Housewives as one of the top 10 returning shows they’re most excited about. The show beat out Gossip Girl and ER on that list. Not too bad, huh? One of the things that seems to have them so excited is the now-famous five-year jump. They think it adds mystery and I agree. Is it September yet? Another ABC show, Pushing Daisies reached the top spot on that poll.

Well, I guess that’s about all for now. Stay tuned, though, because with the new season close at hand, there’s bound to be many more polls and articles like this coming out. And, of course, I’ll be there to share as I find them. Take care and see ya next time! Don’t forget to comment and let me know what you all think.

Interview With a Producer

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! Well, so far no storm has wrecked havoc like the Houseiwves had to deal with so, here I am! And I’ve got something cool to share. Writer/Producer Jeff Greenstein recently gave an interview with Blogcritics Magazine, an online publication. He didn’t give away any real spoilers (and I’m glad), but he did have some cool things to say.

Apparently, he’s a science geek who reads about string theory for fun and he spent some of the interview joking about the ladies going to work in hovercrafts and Tom fighting in a robot war since they’ve jumped into the future. I was surprised to learn that Housewives is not his only job. He has a few shows in development with ABC and only spends a few days a week working on our favorite show.

Part of the reason he refused to reveal any spoilers is because he feels it lessens the impact of the story telling. He uses the fact the jump into the future was leaked as an example of that. They tried hard to keep it under wraps, but we all know that it didn’t work out that way. He added, as others have, that the jump was a great way to renew everyone from the writers to the actors creatively and give them the chance to explore new lives of the characters without waiting until season 10 (a good thing, consider Marc Cherry says 7 is it.)

He also gave us a look into the writing process, saying that last season’s Mayfair mystery was all planned out from the start of the season and they work that way most years. A small group will come up with the main story and then send two writers off to make the script come to life. Notes and re-writes follow. He described it as being a mix of the hour-show process and the sitcom process.

Well, that’s about it for now… I’ll see ya next time with much more. You can catch the full interview here. Don’t forget to check out my fellow blogger LiRa’s latest Lost news as well… Jeff mentioned the show in his interview.
