Desperate Housewives

Well, last night the awesome Mr. Richard Burgi guest starred on the CW series Reaper. The series is about a young guy whose parents made a deal with the devil that now forces him to act as the Grim Reaper and send souls on their way to Hell. Burgi’s character, who is ironically named Mike, is one of those souls. Only thing is, he’s apparently got an in with the chick who takes the souls, because she keeps helping him escape.

He was pretty good in this part. The character starts off as a seemingly fun and harmless guy who likes to mess around with lots of women. Soon, though, he’s shown to be much nastier and doesn’t have too much of a conscience. Much dodging and a big fight later, he’s finally captured and sent back for good. Burgi managed to mix the fun, slightly wacky personality of the character (which made me think of Karl once or twice) with a more sinister undertone that I really enjoyed. Kudos for him!

By the way… there seemed to be a cute little shout-out to his regular gig in the episode. At one point, Mike is caught in a very nice neighborhood much like Wysteria Lane after being shoved out of a women’s house cause her husband has just gotten back. She even tosses a pair of pants at him, bringing to mind that famous scene of Gabby and John trying to hide what they’ve been up to from Carlos. If you want to see it for yourself, the episode will repeat on the 20th at 8 PM Eastern. That’s all for now! Good morning! Later on today, I’ll be dishing about Richard Burgi on Reaper, but for now… there’s plenty of news to talk about. Plus, a new promo! First off, everyone’s talking about Edie leaving Wisteria Lane and wondering if that means the end of Nicolette Sheridan on the show. Her reps aren’t talking and Marc Cherry is being a bit tight-lipped as well. The story’s so big, it even made the AP newswire. It seems to have done the ratings some good as well. The episode brought it over 15 million viewers.

Andrea Bowen is also in the news right now. I’ve read various reports saying that, like her TV parents, she has the music bug. She’s planning to record some songs over the summer. Look out, Teri and James! I’ll be looking forward to hearing what she can do.

Finally… I promised a look at the promo. I’m sad to see that the season is ending already, but at least we’re getting a two-hour episode! And what an episode it appears to be. It looks like Lynette’s in for some trouble thanks for Kayla’s phone call and Katherine appears ready to spill what’s going on with her and her family. My personal favorite moment of this promo is the housewives reaction to Susan’s choice in baby names. I have had that reaction many times myself… If you missed it, here it is:

Good morning, everyone! Since a new episode airs this weekend, I thought I’d take a look at the new promo today. Before you view it, why not check out a recap of last week’s episode?

They may have been sidelined by a strike, but the Housewives have come back really strong in the last few weeks. Based on that promo, this week is going to be no exception. All the elements are in place for a great one. Apparently, Gabby either decided to snoop or wants to borrow something and ends up coming across the mystery drawer. This leads to my favorite quote of the entire promo: “Carlos, I was a fashion model in the 90s, I know cocaine!”

The Scavos apparently have some more trouble with Kayla while celebrating Mother’s day. I’m basing this on the clip of Lynette asking someone “are you threatening me” after Kayla is shown looking down a stairway. If she does, I wanna see Tom justify not taking the kid to a therapist now. Especially after what happened with Parker.

Edie and Bree apparently are going to get into a war over the Orson kiss. Wonder if Bree’s gonna recruit Katherine to help her out? If so, I really wouldn’t want to be Edie.

I’m not so sure about the Susan going into labor thing, though. I mean, have you seen Susan at all? I don’t even want to imagine her in charge of a helpless baby. It’s a miracle Julie ever made it out of her own babyhood.

Nevermind the fact that the actors have already been cast for the “gay neighbors” and the information regarding all of that was released ages ago.  No, people still couldn’t get over the notion of soccer legend David Beckham and Brit singing sensation Robbie Williams playing a gay couple on “Desperate Housewives”.  Eva Longoria spoke to the source herself, and reported to “Extra” that Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham set the record straight.

“No, talked to Victoria the other day,” Longoria said. “I told her about that rumor, she was laughing. David had a good laugh out of it. No, they are not coming on the show.”

Let’s hope that finally puts a stop to the rumors once and for all!

 

What do you think of the new promo pic from ABC for season 4 of “Desperate Housewives”?  It’s cleverly matched with the catch-phrase: “It’s a hell of a day in the neighborhood.”  Looks “spicy”, no?  Not to mentioned airbrushed to heck and back but who’s keeping track, right?

Also, here are some great sneak peaks at the Buddy TV website for “Desperate Housewives”:

• We’ll see an amazing appearance from Edie Brit in the first episode and word is Nicolette Sheridan isn’t going anywhere this season, despite the apparent suicide at the end of last season!
• Susan Mayer will not slip so silently into domestic bliss as we might have hoped.  But would we expect her to?
• Expect Gaby and Carlos’ steamy affair to continue!

Well, we heard it was a possibility and it’s true. Nadine Coyle, the ex-girlfriend and lead singer of Girls Aloud has taken back her wayward boyfriend Jesse Metcalfe. Nadine’s bandmate Nicola Roberts revealed this little factoid to Closer magazine during a recent interview.

“They’re together and seeing how it goes. It could work out and it could not.”

While that doesn’t sound like an extremely confident endorsement of their relationship, I’m sure Nadine wouldn’t have taken Jesse back without being somewhat sure of their future together.  And it does appear that Jesse has cleaned up his act in recent months.  Let’s hope that he’s learned his lesson and sticks close to his lady this time.  I wish them both the best of luck.

Just when you were starting to think that maybe the women on “Desperate Housewives” might actually be getting along, rumors are flying that quite the opposite is true.  Apparently, cast members have been taking bets on when Eva Longoria’s marriage will fall apart.  This is, of course, according to a report to be published by the National Enquirer so take it with a grain of salt.

And the bets aren’t all, either.  According to the magazine,  the women are arguing about everything from scripts to photo shoots to trailers.  An insider on the set has revealed:

“The cat claws are out like never before, and the actresses’ inability to get along is causing headaches for producers, writers and crew members. And the one joke that’s keeping a smile on people’s faces is at Eva’s expense.”

This all sounds absolutely absurd to me and I hope that something is resolved soon.  Why is it that women can’t work together without the gossip swirling that they are all at each other’s throats?  How about everyone just settles down and makes a good show this season?  Is that possible?

TV Squad posted a fabulous article today about the fourth season of “Desperate Housewives” (which will commence on September 30th on ABC). It gives some awesome spoilers and hints at upcoming storylines as well as some speculation and rumors. Plus, I guess I had sort of forgotten where we left off last season. For instance, I’d completely forgotten somehow that Gaby and Carlos had hooked up after her wedding near the end of the show. How could I forget that?? Anyhow, I heartily recommend reading if you’re interested in some clues or rumors about what might be in store for us this season. Be aware that spoilers are involved so if you’d rather be surprised, maybe reading isn’t for you.

So who is it going to be?  Rumors are flying that one of the four major housewives is going to be leaving the show this next season.  And it isn’t Nicolette Sheridan either, as producers have confirmed that she will be staying with the show (eh??).

“Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis), Marcia Cross (Bree Hodge) or Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) is going to leave,” an insider told the National Ledger. “I don’t think anyone other than [show creator] Marc Cherry and the actress involved know for sure who it is.”

Could it be Teri Hatcher, due to her recent trouble with the other ladies?  Or maybe Eva partially due to her spillage of future plot ideas and partially because she wants to stretch her wings?  Maybe Marcia wishes to spend more time at home with her new daughters.  Or maybe Felicity is considering a new project that will take her focus away from “Desperate Housewives”.  It’s anyone’s game at this point.  I may put my money on Felicity, simply because a) she’s too good for this show and I mean that in the best way possible and b) her character DOES sorta have cancer.  What do YOU think?

Teri Hatcher thought she had simply misplaced her ATM card. So when she called up the bank to cancel the card and see about getting issued another, she was told that someone had been using the heck out of it. Talk about a shock!

“I called to cancel it and was actually stolen… I don’t use it much, so they had rung up $12,000. They did 90 different transactions and I know that because for every single fraud thing you have to sign out a whole slip that says, ‘No, I wasn’t at Joe’s Diner, spending $20 on chilli.’ There were a lot of trips to Albertsons in the Valley, Vons, Longs Drugs, lots of little purchases. I think that’s probably how they get away with it. It dawned on me as I was doing this that in 90 times of them giving the card, nobody ever went, ‘Teri Hatcher…’ I was really kinda freaked out that that could happen.”

I can see how that would happen with an ATM card, since no one really looks at those for signatures or even if you’re the name on the card. A debit card would have been another story (and probably why I vastly prefer my check card to my ATM card). Still, this is a huge bummer for Teri and I imagine has been quite a headache to deal with.

Rumors have been flying around about whether or not Felicity was drunk on the set of her new movie with Jane Fonda and Lindsay Lohan, “Georgia Rule”. Did she drink? Yep, she sure did. Was she drunk all the time? No way. She insists that the claims have been greatly exaggerated, due to some comments she made to a magazine that were taken out of context. She has said that she was pretty much joking around it (not that drinking or being drunk is a laughing matter) and that was lost in the context of what she said. Is this a big deal? I surely don’t think so. I’m sure many celebrities drink and are drunk during moive shoots. It’s just another occurrance of misunderstanding and blowing things out of proportion. Hey, I believe in you, Felicity!

Jesse Metcalf just can’t seem to stay out of trouble these days. Apparently, he was photographed hugging a very attractive mystery woman that is NOT his girlfriend Nadine Coyle. While Nadine is working in the UK, he was seen strolling hand in hand with a pretty brunette. Whoops, indeed.

The pictures have sparked off huge speculation about the couple’s future - with one tabloid going as far as to say the Girls Aloud star has dumped Jesse. The report said that Nadine is furious with her man and is not the kind of girl to put up with that kind of behaviour but her people are refusing to confirm the status of their relationship.

This guy just cannot seem to stay out of trouble. And after his girlfriend stuck so faithfully by his side during the rehab debacle, he should be ashamed of himself.

Actor Josh Henderson, who played the not-so-loveable Austin McCann on “Desperate Housewives” was recently interviewed about the supposed tensions between the female co-stars. His take on it? The rumors about fights and tension and catfights are because the women don’t tend to hang out with one another outside the set or work-related outings. It’s not a bad theory. Perhaps if people saw Marcia Cross going shopping with Teri Hatcher or Eva Longoria and Felicity Huffman having a cup of coffee at a cafe and deep in conversation, then maybe people wouldn’t speculate so much about how much they all hate each other.

“I get asked about the tensions a lot. I’ve really never seen any problems or trauma. You know, the girls all have their own lives. They have boyfriends or families, so I suppose they don’t hang out much as friends. But they’re always going to parties and work-related nights out with the rest of the cast and they get on fine.”

Perhaps that will put an end to that? Huh, I doubt it.

I saw this story yesterday and thought about posting it but decided against it. But apparently? Is news. So I’m posting it! Wee! Josh Henderson, the young hottie who plays naughty Austin on “Desperate Housewives” has been confirmed as Paris Hilton’s newest boy-toy. The pair were seen leaving a movie theater in Los Angeles together on Monday, before he kissed her goodnight at her SUV. And that’s not all, as the picture above was snapped on March 24, last Saturday where the pair were partying it up together at Hugh Hefner’s 81st birthday party. AND, apparently Paris took Josh to a party last week that her sister Nicky was holding for her boyfriend, David Katzenberg. Wow, this is starting to sound serious.

What does Josh have to say about this? “She’s awesome”, he told paparazzi on Tuesday after the two were seen fleeing an LA hotspot together. Oh dear, what would Julie say?

It would appear that Jesse Metcalf didn’t (just) enter rehab on his. Nope, he had some good motivation. His girlfriend, Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, threatened to leave him if he didn’t get help for his alcohol problem. Apparently his heavy drinking was causing a huge strain on their relationship and Nadine was nearing the end of her rope.

“Jesse is getting help. I’m just glad he has realized he couldn’t go on the way he was. It was hurting me to see him do that to himself. I’m going to be there for him and do all I can to help but at the end of the day, Jesse has to make the decision to stop on his own.”

It’s good that she’s supporting him and rooting for him while he’s in recovery. But at the same time, she’s not taking away his accountability and I think that’s great. Let’s hope that rehab works for him.
