Desperate Housewives

It would appear that Jesse Metcalf didn’t (just) enter rehab on his. Nope, he had some good motivation. His girlfriend, Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, threatened to leave him if he didn’t get help for his alcohol problem. Apparently his heavy drinking was causing a huge strain on their relationship and Nadine was nearing the end of her rope.

“Jesse is getting help. I’m just glad he has realized he couldn’t go on the way he was. It was hurting me to see him do that to himself. I’m going to be there for him and do all I can to help but at the end of the day, Jesse has to make the decision to stop on his own.”

It’s good that she’s supporting him and rooting for him while he’s in recovery. But at the same time, she’s not taking away his accountability and I think that’s great. Let’s hope that rehab works for him.

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker had a wild weekend in Vegas this past weekend. Did they? Or didn’t they? While they played coy with reporters, they did insist that they will be tying the knot in France in July. No jumping the gun yet! Though Eva was quoted as saying, “We said, why not? All of our friends are here, so our job tonight is to have a good time.�? Of course, she was referring to the bash the couple put on at PURE nightclub, to celebrate the NBA All-Star game that Parker was there to participate in in the first place. And, Hollywood as she is, I doubt Eva would consent to getting married in that goofy looking shorts suit she was wearing, even thought it was white.

Apparently Marcia’s recent welcome additions have stirred a longing in Eva Longoria. Even with the wedding to Tony Parker still months away (the date is still set for 7-7-07), the word is that Eva and Tony are already planning to start a family. Not one to dilly dally, now that Eva has found her perfect man, she wants the perfect baby to go with it. So are they trying already? Sure sounds like it! Another source has hinted that Eva might request her character of Gabrielle on “Desperate Housewives” become pregnant along with her, though a rep for Anthony Chavira (who plays her husband Carlos) denies the rumor. Best of luck to this gorgeous duo. I hope she gets her wish.

This is a rather unlikely pairing, wouldn’t you say? Apparently, former president George Bush Sr. met Teri Hatcher three years ago at a dinner party hosted by hotelier Steven Wynn and hit it off. The two have been friends ever since, and even trade emails with one another, sharing their respective news. They were recently spotted in Los Angeles, enjoying a lunch date together. The two exited the restaurant (as you can see to the left) looking comfortable with one another and, well, happy. The former president even gifted Teri with a friendly pat on the butt, apparently. Yes, it would appear that they are that good of friends. Now, I would never have picked these two as friends out of a lineup, but it’s cute. Of course, this makes my mind wander and wonder to itself, “Does this mean Teri Hatcher is a Republican?”

Has she or hasn’t she? That’s the question, isn’t it? Rumors are running rampant on the internet that Teri Hatcher has had Botox and/or Restylane and she says that those rumors simply aren’t true. “I don’t use Botox or Restylane and I’ve never had any surgery, no matter what you’ve read,” she told the British edition of Glamour magazine recently for it’s March issue. In fact, she knows all the rumors about her that are circulating around the internet, and they drive her nuts. “[My friend] keeps threatening to put these computer child locks on my computer so I can’t torture myself. It hurts, you know?” It has to be rough, to be placed under that kind of a microscope, where your every action and appearance is analyzed. I can see where the rumors have come from. For being 42, Teri looks pretty darned good. In fact, if I can look half as good at the same age, I’ll consider myself very, very blessed. Botox or not, it’s not really any of our business. But I suppose there’s nothing to stop us from speculating, either.

Eva has put the kibosh on rumors that she’s leaving “Desperate Housewives” after this, the third season. In an interview with Britain’s Arena magazine, she says, “No way, we’re contracted for the next seven years. A lot can happen in a 10-year contract.” She also mentioned she’s become more like Bree in her real life now, she loves to cook and bake for her fiance, Tony Parker. Sounds like he’s a pretty lucky guy!

In other Eva and Tony news, the date for the wedding has been set and announced. It is 07-07-07. Tony, who is reportedly pretty superstitious, believes it to be a very lucky day indeed. It can’t be all bad, that’s the same day as my baby’s first birthday! The pair plans to tie the knot at Chateau de Chantilly, a castle located north of Paris.

It seems like it was only days ago that I reported Teri Hatcher as saying she never wanted to get married again. And also that “it would take a lot before [she] would want to bring a man into [her] daughter’s life.” Wait, it was just days ago! At any rate, Teri Hatcher is now shouting to the rooftops that she is in love with film director Stephen Kay. At the Golden Globes on Monday, she told “Extra”, “I’m not single anymore. I’m totally in love and it’s fabulous.” Interestingly enough? Kay formerly dated Teri’s co-star, Eva Longoria before she ultimately hooked up with Tony Parker. It’s a small world, isn’t it?

While I’m happy she’s found some happiness for herself, I have to wonder what happened to her assertion that she would like to remain single. I’m not saying she’s going to marry Stephen Kay, but it definitely sounds like a big-time relationship and that doesn’t necessarily mean keeping men out of her daughter’s life, no?

The People’s Choice Awards were Tuesday night and Eva took the opportunity clear up a misnomer in the press. She has nothing wrong with finace Tony Parker having a bachelor party before their wedding. According to a report in the LA Daily News:

“It’s completely untrue. They haven’t even discussed it, and he probably will end up having a bachelor party,” says her rep. She adds that Eva and Tony “haven’t even set the wedding date for this summer.”

What is true is that Eva is currently scouting areas in Cote d’Azur in the South of France and will be visiting the area next month, looking for a garden on a hilltop overlooking the sea. That is where she’d like her wedding ceremony to take place. Sounds like the girl knows what she wants!

It’s been a good week for Eva. She took home an award on Tuesday night for Best Female Star on television and got a chance to show off the enormous engagement ring that Tony Parker gave to her.

Wedding bells are ringing for the “Desperate Housewives” women! Not on the show, as far as I am aware, but in real life. First up, we have the delicious Nicolette Sheridan who has been engaged to singer Michael Bolton since March of last year. When should we expect to catch to bouquet? According to Nicolette, don’t hold your breath. “I don’t have time for wedding plans anymore, but we are extremely happy.” Too bad!

Eva is our other blushing bride and her dilemma is finding the perfect wedding dress! She’s torn between picking a designer that will honor her Mexican heritage or picking a French designer to go with her French fiance and the venue for their nuptials.

She’s split between Angle Sanchez, who made her 2005 Emmy awards gown, and top designer Monique Lhuillier.

Her stylist said: “Eva has been supportive of Latin designers but Monique is French like Tony and she and Eva know each other.”

Best of luck, Eva. I’m sure whichever you pick will be absolutely stunning.

Eva seems to be in the news an awful lot these days! The latest story out says that Eva has told Tony that he cannot have the traditional bachelor party before their wedding. As reported in In Touch Weekly, “Eva thinks letting men have bachelor parties is just asking for trouble.” When she heard that Tony’s San Antonio Spurs teammates were planning a big to-do for their friend, she put her diminutive foot down. The plan was for a lavish and wild party at Parker’s home that would last an entire weekend. Normally, I’d say a bachelor party is fine if you trust your husband-to-be (and you should). But a weekend-long bash? That’s pushing it. What do you think?

Apparently Eva’s opening of the annual Harrods Winter Sale wasn’t without a hitch or two. According to Page Six, the popular celebrity gossip section of the New York Times, Longoria drew criticism while in London kicking off the famous department store’s big after-Christmas sale. She was heckled loudly outside the store by anti-fur activists while trying to give interviews and pose for pictures. She was also recently named PETA’s “Worst Dressed” (a dubious honor which in the past has gone to such stars as Christina Ricci), for wearing “dead-animal pelts”. It continually surprises me that modern celebrities and people in the limelight wear fur anymore, since it’s a practice that seems to have long since been labeled as taboo.

I’d like to first off wish you all a belated Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I was absent from the blog for a week, due to one of my children being uber-sick and also being out of town for the holidays. I’m back home now, and my child is on the mend, so back to reporting the “Desperate Housewives” news it is! There’s quite a few tasty bits to report, so sit down and get comfy while I get you all caught up.

• As I reported previously, Eva Longoria opened the Harrods Winter Sale in London on December 28th. She got first dibs on the deals, and reportedly spent a whopping #35,000 in a mere 90 minutes. She picked out designer handbags, shoes and coats, among other goodies. Lucky for her, she didn’t have to battle the crowds which had been lining up outside since 5am. Now that’s the way to shop!
• Eva also made news when rumors floated around about series creator Marc Cherry mentioning that Heather Mills (the soon-to-be ex-wife of Paul McCartney) would be an interesting addition to the next season of “Desperate Housewives”. Longoria, however, has different ideas. She thinks “it would be completely crazy” and would be offended if she was offered a part. Ouch!
• In Golden Globes news, Felicity Huffman will be one of the many presenters, having won a Globe herself last year. Look for her (and also see if she wins again for Best Actress in a Comedy Series) on the awards show airing Monday, January 15.

Eva Longoria recently celebrated her new engagement with her “Desperate Housewives” co-stars, according to an article at StarPulse.com. Eva and long-time beau Tony Parker (of the San Antonio Spurs) were engaged last week, when he proposed to her with a stunning 5 carat emerald cut diamond surrounded by no less than 247 accent diamonds. Wowzers! Eva immediately wanted to share the good news with her co-stars.

Marcia was told the good news when she found Tony in Eva’s trailer and then saw the ring. She was so happy for her friend that she literally squealed with glee and called Felicity right away and told her to talk to Eva. The report is that Felicity showed no less excitement for her friend’s good fortune.

It’s nice to hear that all these ladies get along so well and can celebrate in life’s big moments together.
