More Q&As

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Since the next new episode is still a week away, I thought I’d share some more Q&A interviews posted online. It’s “Ask Desperate Housewives”. The first video is posted by desperate videos and features Marc and Felicity Huffman.

Don’t worry about spoilers, cause you’re not going to find any in this one. Basically, they’re just asking a lot of general question of them in this one. He introduces her as the ‟magnificent‟ Felicity Huffman. They talk about whether or not either of them feel jealousy about other plots, why Dr. Heller has not been identified yet, extending the show by two years as well as what goes into making the show each week. My favorite part is where Felicity is asked what she’d like to see happen with Lynette. She says she’s not that smart and admits that she has not thought about that at all- she just lets the writers do their thing.

This second video comes to us from wreckcentered and is an older Q&A with Marc (as always) and Kevin Rahm (Lee). This was, hands down, my favorite of the two videos. They talk about who Lee (and Kevin) fears most, whether or not March will make a cameo on the show and where Marc gets his ideas. He admits that he is not invited to parties very often because people are scared he’ll put their lives into the show. Kevin and Marc also talk about how Kevin managed to get cast on the show, which is my second favorite moment in the video. Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and see y’all next time.

New Interview with Marc and Dana

Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Hello, everyone. Well, we’re apparently not getting any new episodes until the 8th, so I went looking around youtube and found a cool video. It’s a behind the scenes interview with Marc Cherry and Dana Delany that was posted by DHCentral. There’s no real spoilers in it, so it’s safe to watch for anyone avoiding them. Check it out:

For anyone who may not be able to watch, I’ll give you a little recap of what they talked about. One of the questions talked about her auditioning for Bree. Yeah, I know… old news. Still, they mentioned a few things I hadn’t heard before with that. Apparently, she broke Marc’s heart because she came in to audition and then decided to turn down the part later. He tried several times to get her back before she agreed to come on the show as Katherine. They also talked a plan he’s thinking about for next year that would involve going back in time and what are the easiest kinds of scenes to play (they say being ruthless and making quips are the easiest). He also talks about where he came up with some of the names and someone else he wanted on the show.

One of my favorite parts is when a fan asks Dana what resident she’d like to have an affair with. You have to see the look on Marc’s face when she says Bree to really appreciate his reaction. It’s priceless. I was also surprised to learn that he was once Dixie Carter’s (who went on to play a role on Housewives) assistant. Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see ya next time.

Interview with a Doctor…

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

So, I’m sure by now all of you know about the new face on Wysteria Lane, Dr. Cominis. He’s the surgeon that fixed Orson’s snoring problem, leading to one of the funniest scenes all year. Ya know, the one where Bree informs the doctor that she doesn’t care if Orson’s apprehensive about the procedure because he owes her big. The look on his face was priceless.

He’s also got another role on the show: Andrew’s new man (another classic moment, by the way). According to the article he has shot four episodes of the show right now. Here’s hoping he’s got many more to come because he’s great. So far, he’s appeared in two. Because of his new notoriety, his hometown paper, The Daily News, did an interview with him. You can see the full article and all his comments about the cast and the show here. In the meantime, let me fill you in on a couple parts of the interview that stuck out to me.

One is people’s reaction to his part on the show. Apparently, he’s getting a lot of people joking with him that they saw his video (if you remember, his character once starred in an adult film). He has a great sense of humor about it, though, laughing along with the people. Also, he revealed that the scene where he and Andrew announce they’re engaged was filmed the day after Proposition 8 was voted through, which I thought was kind of ironic. You might also remember him from his roles on Samantha Who and Criminal Minds. Be sure to come back and share your thoughts on it all after you’ve read the interview for yourself. For now, I’m out of here! Take care and see you all again tomorrow.

Teri Hatcher’s Election Night

Friday, December 5th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! So, I know this may be a little bit late, but I am here to give you the scoop on Teri Hatcher’s interview with David Letterman. You can see the full video of it below. Underneath the clip, I’ll summarize it for ya in case you can’t see it for whatever reason.

So, the interview started off much like her appearance on The View a day or so before. He asked about her Thanksgiving plans and she told him that she had already had her big family celebration, so she was going to spend the day in New York with friends, getting a massage. One of the odd moments (which has gotten her some press lately) came when talk turned to the Election. Apparently, a picture came out with a caption stating she desperately needed new underwear. This just happened to appear on the same page as the election map, so now Teri associates the night with her need to get new underwear.

One of the best parts was when she discussed going on Safari with her daughter, Emerson. She showed some awesome pictures of the land and the animals, taking the opportunity to fill Dave in on how you can tell a Cheetah from a Leopard. Leopards have “black tears” (when she see the video, you’ll know what that means). According to legend, they got this after a Leopard lost it’s cub. The things you learn from a TV interview, huh?

Overall, a pretty good interview. Also, the underwear moment was less stupid and odd than the news stories led me to believe. That’s all for now. Take care and see you again on Monday!

For That I Am Thankful…

Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Good morning and happy thanksgiving, everyone!! We’re actually going out this year, so I guess I can say I’m thankful I’m not cooking today. Before I head out, I thought I’d stop in and share what the residents of Wysteria Lane are grateful for. Check it out:

Bree: I’m thankful that it wasn’t me on that tape and Andrew hasn’t told me how he got it back.

Tom: I’m thankful that I got a new guitar… I was bummed when Penny broke the old one.

Dave: I’m grateful that the people on this street seem very stupid and that the only one with any smarts is out of town now.

Gabrielle: I’m really thankful that they didn’t give me the statutory rape story again this time. Of course, I’d be even more thankful if that creepy old lady would just keep us in the will.

Mike: I’ll be thankful if the writers don’t make me the target of a crazy person again.

Katherine: I second that one… I finally got something going on here and the writers better not screw it up. After last season, you owe me.

Andrew: I’m thankful when Danielle visits… she’s a great source of comic relief.

So, there you have it- a list of what some of the residents are grateful for this year. I thought I’d finish off with a quick recap of Teri Hatcher on The View yesterday. Basically, they did a lot of talking about the holidays. Teri actually cooked dinner for about 40 people earlier in the week (she had Thanksgiving early cause of the custody arrangement with her daughter.) Turns out she’s very crafty, too. She made Halloween costumes for Emerson and a couple of her friends this year. Susan she is most definitely not! They also discussed Gale a little bit, who is continuing to recover nicely. She said they’re hoping he comes back soon (same here, Teri), although she does seem to be all for a Susan/Mike pairing in the end. They also aired the preview clip I shared the other day. It has Susan and Mike in the hospital and she’s slowly beginning to realize he’s seeing someone, although she doesn’t know who. You can see it all yourself here, courtesy of one of my fellow bloggers.

Well, that’s all for today. Take care and have a great holiday!

Felicity On The View….

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Now that we’re a couple of episodes in, Felicity Huffman joined the ladies of the View for a chat yesterday. I think I may have tuned in after it had started. What I saw was her talking a little bit about the new season and the mid-life crisis Tom is on the verge of. There wasn’t a whole lot given away about the show, so that was pretty good.

Mainly, as seems to be the case on the View, she talked about herself and stuff she’s doing personally. They showed an absolutely adorable picture of Felicity with a dog her family had adopted that looked like a Black Lab, but she described as a mutt. She’s actually involved with this great project that is sponsered by Iams. It’s called Home For the Holidays. Basically, their goal is to get 1 million dogs and cats placed in good homes during the October-January holiday season. If you’re interested in finding out more and maybe adding to your family, check here. I think this is one of my favorite causes the ladies of Wysteria Lane have been involved in.

During her visit, they also talked about her kids. Basically, She’s dreading the day they become teenagers and she’s dealing with the misery Lynette faces each day (the kids are currently both under 10). Whoopie started messing with her a bit, telling her that from the age of about 12 until they hit around 20, Felicity will never be right and constantly ignored. Overall, Felicity came off pretty good in it and looked great. And she, thankfully, didn’t share any scary stories along the lines of the Madonna underwear thing she talked about in More Magazine. Keep it up, girl! If you wanna see a more complete recap of the appearance (and the whole show in general), I point you to my fellow blogger Winnie McCarthy’s post on it.

Finally… as promised, here is a little more detail on the scene with Karl… Susan comes home from a talk with Mike to find Karl and Jackson chatting it up. she walks him out, asking him what he’s doing here… apparently, he had to come sign some papers for Julie. He then teases her about dating a plumber and a painter, adding “just think, If I’d been a roofer, we might still be together.” As an added bonus, check out this scene, where Mike and Jackson first run into eachother:

Well, that’s about it for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time with some great quotes and other stuff.

Let’s Dish….

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Hey, everyone… how’s it going? Don’t you just love Fridays? I know I do. Especially when there’s a new Desperate Housewives season only two days away. Get ready, guys…. the reviews have been coming in and they’re overall really good. I think this is gonna be a pretty interesting season based on the sneak peaks and reviews out there. While we’re waiting, why don’t we dish a little?

Did you know there’s such a thing as the “Desperate Housewives Disease”? According to Dana Delany, there is. She says a costume designer warned her about it when she first joined the show. Apparently, it’s code for “don’t get too caught up in losing weight” since many of the people on the show have fallen into that trap and are kind of competitive about it. Dana does say, though, that Teri is very naturally thin. I have to say, this makes me a bit sad. I hope they snap out of it before it gets too out of hand and they’re having to stage 90210-like interventions. That wasn’t the only thing Dana revealed…

Did you know she was going to play Carrie on Sex and the City? She said she was offered the part by her friend Darren Star, but turned it down because it was too similar to another part that wasn’t received very well. She’s cool with it, though. She admitted that if she’d gotten the part it would’ve made it a different show that might not have made it as big. Gotta love an actress who can admit to something like that, huh?

Finally…. Eva’s made a new friend! Recent reports have announced that Eva sent a bottle of champaign to a baseball player by the name Evan Longoria to celebrate his success. He returned the favor by sending her a Tampa Bay Rays shirt. I like that. Wonder if we’re gonna see her and Tony showing up at baseball games now…

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all Monday with our very first recap of the season.

I’m Getting Spoiled…

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Hope you’re all doing great. I have some cool stuff to share with you today. First off…. I know it’s a day late, but here’s that picture I promised from the emmys:

Looks great, doesn’t it? I love the backdrop of the whole thing. Apparently, they did that for other shows as well during the telecast. Gotta love that idea, but it didn’t do much for the show, it seems. Last I read, ratings were down a lot, pretty much the lowest numbers they’d ever gotten. Of course, they were going up against some great competition, including the Presidential candidates on 60 Minutes.

Speaking of good ideas, have y’all seen the new TV Guide? If so, you should. Dana, Teri and Felicity are on the main cover, while Eva, Marcia and Nicollette are on the fold out. It’s got the ladies in 50s-era looks that really suit them and I think it’s a great theme for the shoot for the series. Of course, I do wonder what’s up with Eva’s expression on the fold-out cover. If you buy it, beware of the article…. I read it and saw too late there were quite a few details about the new season. All I will say is, expect some interesting things this year from the characters. One part that seems safe enough to read is a little thing at the bottom of the last page written by Marc Cherry. He explains his reasons for the jump (which I think he may have mentioned before) and tells where he got his inspiration from. Definitely check it out, because he shows a pretty decent sense of humor in the piece. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and see y’all next time!

Recap Time!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

So, I promised you guys I would recap Eva Longoria’s appearance as soon as I was able to watch it myself and am a woman of my word. Since I know there are probably quite a few out there who missed it or can’t see it on youtube, here it is!

Russell Brand (host of the VMAs) was on right before her and was actually featured quite a bit during Eva’s spot. If she had any annoyance with him, she didn’t show it. She was laughing the entire time and looked to be really enjoying herself. The hilarity started when she discussed her family hunting for food at one point. Leno made a comment that prompted her to to tell him “don’t get Peta on me”. Apparently, Brand misheard that as “pee” and spent the entire rest of the episode joking about pee while Eva cracked up at the silliness of the whole thing. That was a bit of a surprise, though… I didn’t realize Eva’s family was so down home.

Another hot topic was her anniversary and the pregnancy rumors. She talked about how they just celebrated one year not that long ago with a trip and she is absolutely not pregnant. She just gained five pounds and went from a size zero to a size one. This, of course, led to the men being all confused there even is a size zero. Frankly? I’m with them. I don’t get the sizing for women’s clothes either. I think the men’s sizing is much easier and saves them from having to drag tons of clothes of varying sizes in and out of a changing room.

Besides that, she talked about Beso and how she’s there all the time and the ALMA awards. She mentioned she’s got like 11 costume changes and how it was almost like being in a NASCAR race trying to get everything changed in time. If you want to see the awards, they air on ABC on September 12th. Check your local listings for times. For anyone who was avoiding watching the video due to spoiler fears, fear not. They didn’t really even talk about the show… the most they did was play the theme music as she entered the stage.

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see y’all next time. Also, don’t forget to check out yesterday’s post (even if you already did)… a reader has some extra scoop about Richard’s new show he shared.

Promo Fun and Talking Leno

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well and ready for the weekend! I know I am. First off… I have an apology to make to y’all. I had some technical issues that prevented me from watching Eva on Leno the other night and bringing you the scoop about what happened. So instead, I’m bringing you something much better. It’s a youtube video so you can see the whole thing yourself. As soon as I am able to get to a computer where I can actually watch it, too, I’ll recap for other dial-up users like me that youtube doesn’t seem to like much. Enjoy!! Warning to all you spoiler-free people out there: As I didn’t see it yet, I can’t promise she won’t give away any plot details.

As an added bonus, check out this video below. It’s a promo for the season 4 DVDs I told you about the other day.

So, how many of you out there are considering getting the season 4 set? I’m not a huge DVD buyer, myself. I usually juse watch shows in reruns and occasionally buy a set if the show’s off the air. Still, this one is looking pretty interesting so I might actually get tempted this time- they do seem to be going a little above and beyond with this set, which I like. How about you guys? Are the special features and all a big selling point, or do you just care about the episodes only? Feel free to sound off on your own feelings about this.

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. I’ll see y’all again on Monday with more news and dish about our favorite show. I’ll even get a few recaps ready for you. Til then, take care!

Catching Up and Stepping Out

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Good morning, guys!! So… you love reading recaps to get yourselves all caught up on the show. Still, you’re a little unsatisfied. After all, nothing quite beats seeing it all play out in live action right in front of you. You don’t have the DVDs, so what are you supposed to do? Well, you’re in luck!

Lifetime TV, which has been airing the series in the middle of the night here and there, has now added the series to its daytime schedule. Every day at noon, you can catch up with all the Wysteria Lane craziness from the beginning. They’ll repeat the episodes at 8 AM the following day. It all starts this week, so be sure to tune in if you’re a late addition to watching the show.

Time Warp- One of the earilest photos of the cast from the 2004 press tour.

Time Warp- One of the earilest photos of the cast from the 2004 press tour.

It’s kind of interesting because part of the reason for the move is they are losing one of their more popular reruns, The Golden Girls, to another network soon. As I’m sure you all remember, Marc Cherry was involved in that show as well. I wonder how long it’ll be before they give him the chance to develop an original series for them.

By the way… get those VCRs set up! I just found out that Eva will be appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tonight at 11:35 PM. Check your local listings for stations and all. You can also see Eva at 10:30 tonight on a repeat of the George Lopez show. That airs on Nick. I do believe this is the first talk show appearance of the season for the ladies, so should be fun! I will, of course, be watching to fill you in on how it all goes. Until then, take care and see ya next time!!

Felicity The Desperate Houswife or Eva Hates Kissing

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

So, we’ve been having a lot of talk about Felicity lately on the blog. Get ready to hear one more story (I’ll move on to someone else in a minute… I promise!) Felicity recently gave an interview to the New York Daily News where she discussed how she got her part on the show. For anyone who might not know, Felicity was frazzled herself with three kids. She had gone straight from dealing with two screaming ones to her audition. She apparently looked bad enough that the producers thought she was the one right away. She adds that when she admitted some less than wonderful feelings about motherhood, many of the women around “pulled back from me as if I said ‘I eat babies’.” Nice, huh?

Now, as promised, let’s move on. This time, there’s a story out on Eva Longoria. She admits that she hates kissing scenes in her shows and movies. She hates the idea of kissing a man who’s not her husband so much, so tries to talk directors into letting her character hug someone instead. They, of course, don’t go for it. She says that her on-screen husband feels the same way about kissing scenes. Must make for some awkward moments on set. On a related note, it’s hard to believe it’s been a year now since she and Tony Parker were married. Time flies, huh?

Well, that’s about all for today. I’ll see you guys tomorrow, as always, to dish some more about our favorite show.

Interview With a Producer

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! Well, so far no storm has wrecked havoc like the Houseiwves had to deal with so, here I am! And I’ve got something cool to share. Writer/Producer Jeff Greenstein recently gave an interview with Blogcritics Magazine, an online publication. He didn’t give away any real spoilers (and I’m glad), but he did have some cool things to say.

Apparently, he’s a science geek who reads about string theory for fun and he spent some of the interview joking about the ladies going to work in hovercrafts and Tom fighting in a robot war since they’ve jumped into the future. I was surprised to learn that Housewives is not his only job. He has a few shows in development with ABC and only spends a few days a week working on our favorite show.

Part of the reason he refused to reveal any spoilers is because he feels it lessens the impact of the story telling. He uses the fact the jump into the future was leaked as an example of that. They tried hard to keep it under wraps, but we all know that it didn’t work out that way. He added, as others have, that the jump was a great way to renew everyone from the writers to the actors creatively and give them the chance to explore new lives of the characters without waiting until season 10 (a good thing, consider Marc Cherry says 7 is it.)

He also gave us a look into the writing process, saying that last season’s Mayfair mystery was all planned out from the start of the season and they work that way most years. A small group will come up with the main story and then send two writers off to make the script come to life. Notes and re-writes follow. He described it as being a mix of the hour-show process and the sitcom process.

Well, that’s about it for now… I’ll see ya next time with much more. You can catch the full interview here. Don’t forget to check out my fellow blogger LiRa’s latest Lost news as well… Jeff mentioned the show in his interview.

Eva Alert!

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Good morning and happy Monday! I know, I know… let’s try to forget that, huh? Anyway… I’m back to dish some more about our favorite show and maybe make that first day back at work go a little faster.

It’s overall been pretty quite on the Housewives front lately, but I do have some Eva news to report today. First off… looks like Eva has decided to be the anti-diva and take her name out of consideration for the ALMA awards. This isn’t a Kathryn Heigl moment here… Eva just wanted newcomers to be acknowledged instead. Plus, since she’s executive producer and involved in the balloting and all, she was quote as saying she felt that made her being a nominee a conflict of interest. Good for her on that. It does get tiring at times to see the same old faces up for the same awards all the time. And frankly, some people are just getting nominated on their name or show alone.

Eva Longoria-Parker and Ricardo Antonio Chavira at Beso\'s opening in March.

Eva Longoria-Parker and Ricardo Antonio Chavira at Beso's opening in March.

In other Eva news, you all remember when she opened up that restaurant called Beso? Well, apparently, it was such a success that the rumor mill has her in talks to open a branch in Las Vegas. Look out, everyone. She’s slowly moving towards world domination! Seriously, though… it’ll be interesting to see how Beso is received outside LA. I’ll keep ya posted as any new developments are announced.

Finally… TVGuide posted this interview with Kathryn Joosten. According to the description, she’s going to spill a little about the new season. Based on that and a couple comments some people on another forum made, my spoiler-phobe self decided not to watch. For the rest of you who love spoilers, enjoy!!

Well, I guess that’s about it for today. Take care and I’ll see y’all again tomorrow!

Housewives (and Husbands…) In the Headlines

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Good morning, guys! It seems like the Desperate Housewives people are all over the news today. Don’t you just love pre-TV season? Before we know it, they’ll be popping up on talk shows and the like, too. Anyway… let’s start with another update on the SAG situation.

The actors are mad, and they aren’t gonna take it anymore! 31 SAG members, including our own Doug Savant, have decided they’ve had enough of the war with AFTRA and the Producer’s stalemate and they’ve decided to take action. They have called their group “Unite for Strength” and have demanded that SAG leadership allow members to vote on the deal Producers offered recently. Some, if not most of them, will also be running for positions of power in the union as well. They feel the war with AFTRA has done nothing but hurt everyone and want to get a deal finalized. The positions in question are going to be voted on by September 19th. This all comes after a talk between SAG and the Producers failed to do well… anything on July 16th. I say good luck to them and go for it! It’s about time someone puts a stop to this mess.

Teri Hatcher is among the first of the main Housewives to make the promotional rounds. Hatcher recently sat down with ET to talk about the new season of the show. She said she and Mike will be sharing custody of their son and that Susan has a more “pulled-together personality”. Sounds like we won’t be seeing Susan accidently looking herself out of the house again (or little Maynard into a moving van) and other such clumsy moves. I guess we’ll know for sure in September. Teri is also keeping busy with Band from TV. They’ll be playing again on July 26th, entertaining the crowd at a Fullerton Flyers game. Coincidently, our own James Denton is not only in the band, he owns the team! I didn’t realize that… looks like owning a sports team is a big thing in Hollywood and the Music business.

Finally… the Housewives stars are taking over TV! Lee Tergeson, who you may remember as Bree’s AA Sponsor/former love interest, has become the latest former/current cast member to join a TV show. He’ll be on an HBO series about the Irag War called Generation Kill. Congrats to him!
