James Denton

Another TV Watch…

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Well, we’ve talked the ladies of Wysteria Lane so why not talk about where to find the men on TV this time? I’ll start with James Denton.

He’ll be the guest start on a West Wing repeat on BRAVO. That will air November 26 at 8 AM. On November 28, you can catch him being himself on a repeat on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. That will air on CMT at 3 PM and again at 8 PM. Finally… the ladies aren’t the only ones doing Lifetime movies. He’ll be in one called Custody on November 28 at 9 PM. Not bad, huh?

Now, let’s talk Neal McDonough. You won’t see him, but you can hear him on toon disney this week. On November 28, they’re airing the Incredible Hulk cartoon and he’s in it! You’ll need to set those VCRs, though. The episodes air at 3:30 AM and 4 AM. If you want to actually see him in action, you’re in lick. He’s going to be in the movie Hitcher airing on HBOeast at 3:45 AM and in the time-travel movie Timeline on the Sci Fi Channel at 1:30 PM. Those air on the 27th.

Next, we have Kyle MacLachlan. You might remember him playing a character named Trey MacDougal on Sex in the City. Well, TBS is playing the repeats and you can catch them at these times: November 26 (12 AM and 11:30 PM), November 28 (12:10 AM and 12:40 AM) and November 29 (1:30 PM).

And now, last but not least, Doug Savant. You can catch him in the movie Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence airing on TMCe on November 29 (10:30 PM) and November 30 (2:30 AM). I have never heard of this movie, but it sounds like one you might get a good laugh out of. Let me know what you think if you watch it or have already seen it!

Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see you next time with some sneak peaks. Later!!

Good News and Bad News…

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Hi, everyone. I’ve got some more good news and bad news to share today. I’ll go ahead and get the good out of the way now, so we can properly discuss the other news.

Remember when I told you James Denton was doing a play? Well, he’s given a few more details to Entertainment Tonight. He says that the play is about a family dealing with the abduction of their child and he is starring opposite his real-life wife. He and Erin O’Brian aren’t acting together for the first time, either. James recalled meeting her working on a play together and they did another one later on. Congratulations to them. Be sure to get in touch with the box office for the El portal Theatre in North Hollywood if you’re interested in attending a performance. More information about the play can be found in this post.

Now… I have a bit of sad news to report. Gale Harold, who plays Jackson on the show, was injured in a motorcycle accident. There are some conflicting reports out there about his status. Some say he’s stable, while others are reporting that he is in critical condition. As soon as more information is released, I’ll let you know. I’ll also report any updates over the coming days. I’d like to extend my best wishes to him and his family at this time. Here’s hoping for a quick and full recovery. Feel free to add your own well wishes in the comments. I’ll see you next time. Til then, take care.

The Men Are At it Again…

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Some good (and potentially bad) news today for any Richard Burgi fans out there. You guys know that he’s been keeping busy making some guest appearances on other shows. Well, now he’s got his own show! Can you believe it?

The show is called Harper’s Island and will air on CBS starting in 2009. It will be a mid-season replacement and is currently contracted for 13 episodes. No word on his character’s name and description. Still, it looks like he could have a fairly decent part. The show is about a destination wedding that ends up turning into a murder mystery. The action will be set on a secluded island that was home to a serial killer several years before. To keep us on the end of our seats, those familiar with the show have promised characters will get killed off regularly.

So where does that leave our favorite ex-husband? Your guess is as good as mine. It’s not looking good, though, since the show will be filmed in Vancuver, BC. Good luck to him on this one and here’s hoping for an occasional visit from Karl.

Richard’s not the only one with a side project. James Denton is taking his acting talents to the stage. Yes, you read that right. He’s scheduled to begin a run in the show “How Cissy Grew” on October 18th. A special sneak peak will be held on the 16th at the El Portal Forum Theatre in North Hollywood. The play will keep him busy until November 23rd.

Well, that’s all guys. Take care and I’ll see y’all soon! Don’t forget to drop me a comment and let me know what you think of the men’s new parts and be sure to check here for more entertainment news.

James’ New Toy

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Many celebrities today talk about alternative fuel and other issues. They go out and attend rallies, tape public service announcements and other things to promote a cause but there are many who never take that next step. James Denton is not one of those celebrities. We already knew that he takes time out to play in Band from TV to raise money for charity. But did you know he’s also doing something major for the environment and to promote alternative energy? Yes, that’s right. A local blog featured a little interview with James in which he talked about recently buying an electric cycle.

In the article, James raved about buying a bike called Zero X. It’s light weight and runs entirely on electric power. No gas guzzlers for him! And really… who can afford one these days? He mentioned being very happy to discover that not only was it light weight, it didn’t make a lot of noise and it was actually about as powerful as any other bike. He ended up spending a lot of his time off riding his new bike through the quiet countryside of Montana and loved every minute of it by all accounts. Information on the Zero X can be found all over the internet and it will run you around 7 grand.

I’ll be interested to see how this one sells now that a star of a major show is endorsing it. I’m sure as time goes on, the cost will go down as well. In any case, it’s always cool to see a celebrity who actually not only talks the talk, but walks the walk. Well, I’m out of here for now. Have you ridden a Zero X? What do you think about James getting out there and promoting one? Feel free to comment and let me know. Til next time, take care!

Desperate Moonlighters

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Hello again! It’s time once more to dish about our favorite show and the actors. Now, I know this isn’t as exciting as all the baby news lately (although stay tuned- Eva recently said she can’t wait to have kids as well. I guess all the new Desperate kids have been getting to her), but it’s still cool. Remember Band from TV was doing a show on the 26th? Well, I’ve got some pictures to share with you. Let’s start at the beginning, huh?

Here is Teri and James outside the venue before the performance. I love this casual look they have going on and how comfortable they seem to be together. Makes me wonder how they’re going to play being warring exes.

This next picture is, obviously, Teri on stage performing a number. She wasn’t all that bad on that Idol Gives Back special and she really seems to put some passion and acting into these singing gigs with the band. She may never get a record deal and win Grammy awards, but she’s doing a respectable job of playing singer for a good cause.

Finally… this is my favorite picture of them all. James is looking great while playing that guitar and Teri is grinning ear to ear like she’s having the time of her life. Judging by this and her book (more on that another time), she seems to be a really cool person who is genuinely grateful for her second chance and is living that up while it’s here. James, meanwhile, looking totally at home being a guitar hero. It should be fun to see where this group goes from here.

The gig was held in Fullerton, California at the Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium. According to the official site, their next performance will be August 9th on the grounds of the Autry National Center in LA. California residents… get moving if you wanna see this! It’s an outdoor show and will take place at 7 PM. As you may remember, Band From TV features actors from shows such as House, Cashmere Mafia and Alias, among others. Well, that’s all for now. Take care and I’ll see ya next time!

Housewives (and Husbands…) In the Headlines

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Doug Savant and wife Laura Leighton

Good morning, guys! It seems like the Desperate Housewives people are all over the news today. Don’t you just love pre-TV season? Before we know it, they’ll be popping up on talk shows and the like, too. Anyway… let’s start with another update on the SAG situation.

The actors are mad, and they aren’t gonna take it anymore! 31 SAG members, including our own Doug Savant, have decided they’ve had enough of the war with AFTRA and the Producer’s stalemate and they’ve decided to take action. They have called their group “Unite for Strength” and have demanded that SAG leadership allow members to vote on the deal Producers offered recently. Some, if not most of them, will also be running for positions of power in the union as well. They feel the war with AFTRA has done nothing but hurt everyone and want to get a deal finalized. The positions in question are going to be voted on by September 19th. This all comes after a talk between SAG and the Producers failed to do well… anything on July 16th. I say good luck to them and go for it! It’s about time someone puts a stop to this mess.

Teri Hatcher is among the first of the main Housewives to make the promotional rounds. Hatcher recently sat down with ET to talk about the new season of the show. She said she and Mike will be sharing custody of their son and that Susan has a more “pulled-together personality”. Sounds like we won’t be seeing Susan accidently looking herself out of the house again (or little Maynard into a moving van) and other such clumsy moves. I guess we’ll know for sure in September. Teri is also keeping busy with Band from TV. They’ll be playing again on July 26th, entertaining the crowd at a Fullerton Flyers game. Coincidently, our own James Denton is not only in the band, he owns the team! I didn’t realize that… looks like owning a sports team is a big thing in Hollywood and the Music business.

Finally… the Housewives stars are taking over TV! Lee Tergeson, who you may remember as Bree’s AA Sponsor/former love interest, has become the latest former/current cast member to join a TV show. He’ll be on an HBO series about the Irag War called Generation Kill. Congrats to him!

Casting Notes

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Good morning, everyone! Happy 4th of July… hope your day is going to be a great one! Me? I’m going for a more low-key kind of day at home. I thought before I go veg out for the day, I’d share some more casting news that was announced during my absence.

It’s been very busy on th ecasting front lately. While many current and former stars are getting shows and guest appearances, new cast members are being added to the Lane. Kristin from E! announced that the kid re-casting is basically done. Rumors suggest the twins are being played by 20-year-olds. I can see it… makes it much easier to get the job done if you don’t have to worry about taking time out to send a couple of teenagers to class. I just hope whoever they cast actually looks like they could be teenagers. Gabrielle Carteris on 90210, anyone? ::shudders::

neal-mcdonough.jpgFor all you Mike and Edie fans, there is some good news for you: both are returning. I know Nicolette was pretty much a lock, but James Denton himself was unsure if he was coming back or not. He’s going to be pretty active sharing custody of Maynard with Susan, while Edie will get a new love interest. That part will be played by Neal McDonough, who I remember from the series Boomtown. He has also had parts on Traveler, the Tin Man miniseries and I Know Who Killed Me. Let’s not judge him too harshly for the last one, huh? A guy’s gotta eat….

gale-harold.jpgFinally, we have Gale Harold. He will be playing Ken, the new man in Susan’s life. If he looks familiar to you, you’ve probably seen the short-lived FOX series Vanished. As you can see, there’s going to be a lot of new faces on the Lane this year. I’m excited to see how it all turns out. What do you think? Post your thoughts in the comments and make your voice heard! Til next time…. take care!

Wysteria Lane Dodges a Bullet

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

There’s some good news and bad news for the gang at Wysteria Lane. The bad news? Yesterday, a huge fire broke out at Universal Studios that caused quite a bit of damage. Sets from Back to the Future, Ghost Whisperer and others were ruined. The good news is reports say that none of the Wysteria Lane sets were damaged.

The fire is still being investigated and full damage reports are being worked up right now. Quite a bit of video was also destroyed by the fire, but officials at the studio said nothing was lost forever because they have backup copies stored elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Eva, Nicollette and James are keeping themselves pretty busy during their off time. Eva was recently spotted at a Lakers Game on the 29th of May, the Kiss Lounge Opening on the 30th and the Padres Contra El Cancers’ 5K run/walk. James played in the Salvation Army 2nd Annual Celebrity Invitational Golf Classic. Nicollete, meanwhile, showed up to a Chanel Boutique opening on May 29th in Beverly Hills. Looks like she and James were having a fun time.

Well, that’s about all for now. Be sure to check back tomorrow and throughout the week, because I’ll be filling you in on any other news and Housewife sightings. I’ll also be letting you know where you can see the gang on TV as well as bringing you a look at more episodes from season one. You won’t want to miss all the fun. Til then, take care!

Talk Show Round Up

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Hello, again! As promised, I’m back to give you a little recap of James Denton and Marcia Cross being interviewed on a couple of talk shows.

First up was James Denton. He appeared last night on Last Call with Carson Daly. Carson introduced him by saying he stars on Desperate Housewives and, in the process, is keeping the show from reaching dangerously high levels of estrogen. Ok, kinda lame, but it still got a laugh out of me. Surprisingly, Housewives wasn’t the first thing they talked about. They started off the conversation by talking about James’ band called “Band from TV”. It features Bachelor Bob Guiney, Bonnie Somerville, Hugh Laurie and Greg Grunberg and others. James said that Teri Hatcher recently joined the band as well. He credits her as the reason that the band was featured on the recent Idol Gives Back special and that Band from TV actually helps raise money for a variety of charities. A new DVD they are releasing through the website will also contribute to these causes He also talked about how they convinced him to sing a couple of songs himself, even though he usually plays guitar. According to James, he made a point of choosing songs he can mostly talk through. He added that, while the band doesn’t sound selfish, it really is because “we get to pretend we’re rock stars.” I thought that was really cool. They don’t seem to take it too seriously. Carson actually played a clip of Bonnie and Hugh singing “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”. It didn’t sound half bad. Check out a picture of him performing with the band:

james.jpg

That wasn’t all they talked about, though. James also told a funny story about going to the Golden Globes one year. Apparently, a guy cornered him at the event, calling him “Lost”. Someone else with him said they don’t think it’s him, but a picture was taken of James anyway. Just in case he was actually Matthew Fox of the series Lost. They closed off the interview by playing a clip from this weekend’s Desperate Housewives and talking about Out and About with Allergies. It’s a free Zagat guide for people who have allergies that tells about the best places to go when you have them. It also tells people how to control allergies and things they should ask their doctor about. James is supporting it because he suffers from allergies himself. The free guide is available here. Now, we move on to Marcia…

marcia2.jpg

She appeared on ABC’s The View this morning. She even came onto the set pretending to read Barbara Walters’ new biography. This interview seemed a bit shorter to me, and the ladies almost seemed to talk over her in some parts. They started the interview off by talking about Marcia’s twin girls and showing a picture of them. I really liked her for this because she admitted it was hard to get pregnant at her age and said she wanted to make people aware that it really isn’t that easy. She says she even turned down magazine covers because she didn’t want to be out there promoting a misconception about fertility. On a slightly less serious note, she talks about suffering “mom guilt” when she can’t be with them and feeling like a true success now that she not only has the career, but a family as well.

Whoopie then asked her about the period between Melrose Place and Housewives. Marcia says it was a time when she was trying to figure herself out. She wasn’t getting roles that really interested her and wasn’t quite fulfilled personally, so she decided to take time out to get her psychology degree.

One of the cuter moments came when she was asked how she plays the uptight Bree, since she’s nothing like her in real life. Marcia responds that she has no idea how she manages it, it’s just some magic that happens when she gets those clothes on. She said she even starts straightening crooked pictures on the set and stuff like that. Now, that, I want to see!

To close things off, they talk about Marcia’s support of the skin cancer takes friends project and how important it is to protect your skin from the sun. She said her husband only started listening to her when he needed to get something frozen off his face during a doctor’s visit. She also talked about the misconceptions that darker skinned people don’t get the disease. The project has a website where people can sign themselves and a friend up for a free screening.

Well, that’s all for now. Look for another recap next week when Teri Hatcher also appears on The View. I’ll see y’all again on Monday with a recap of the latest episode. Have a great weekend!

James Denton to be race grand marshal

Monday, July 16th, 2007

James DentonIn a delightful break from wedding news and gossip, I’ve got this nugget to report: James Denton has been named as the grand marshal for the Allstate 400 NASCAR race on July 29 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. What does this honor mean and include? He will be participating in a variety of pre-race activities and will be the one waving the green flag, signifying the start of the race. And, I’m just guessing here, he’ll get some pretty good seats for the race. So why Denton?

“As a well-known TV personality on a very popular show and an avid sports enthusiast, James is an ideal ambassador for this monumental race. We are proud to make him an integral part of the festivities,” Joe Tripodi, Allstate’s chief marketing officer, said.

It is a big honor, which James has recognized and is very excited about. He seems like a great choice to kick off the premiere NASCAR race. Have fun, James!

James Denton wants to leave Hollywood

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

James DentonNever fear, “Desperate Housewives” fans, he won’t be leaving Hollywood just yet.  But once his stint is up on the hit ABC show, James Denton plans to leave Hollywood behind and ease back into a life of anonymity once more.  There’s a great interview posted over on Australia’s Herald Sun website with the 45 year old actor where he talks at great length about Hollywood, the glamorous life and his plans for the future.  Those plans, apparently, don’t include hanging around film premieres and the Starbucks set.  Denton would like to move to Montana and become a teacher.

“I have a place in Montana up in the mountains and that’s where we really want to raise the kids. So if I can get two or three more years out of Housewives, they’ll never see me again.”

So there you have it.  Better get your fill of James Denton while you can.  Sounds as if he doesn’t plan on sticking around any longer than he has to!  Go read the rest of the interview, it’s pretty interesting.

James Denton rocks with “House”

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

James Denton and Erin O'BrienHugh Laurie from FOX’s wildly successful tv show “House” has decided to put together a band. A “rocking jazz group” of all things. Yes, it’s true! I know, I was surprised too because of all people to start a band, I’d never suspect “House”. The band is called, interestingly enough, Band from TV. Clever, huh?

And guess who is playing guitar? Our very own James Denton, of course! I never knew Hugh Laurie was musical and I never would have figured Mike Delfino as a guitar player. But there you have it. Who is fronting the band, you ask? None other than Bob Guiney of “The Bachelor” fame. And why are these guys doing this? For fun? Maybe, but maybe it’s more for work.

The group is recording music inspired by his hit medical drama for an album produced by composer David Foster.

James Denton celebrates a bigger role

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

James DentonWhile I’m sure everyone on the set of “Desperate Housewives” would rather have Marcia Cross there with them and not relegated to bed-rest, there’s at least one cast-member who perhaps a little glad for her confinement. That would be James Denton. We all know how Marcia’s doctors ordered her to bed-rest for the rest of her pregnancy and about how the show’s production scrambled to turn Marcia’s home into a replica of Bree’s Wisteria Lane home so they could film a few more scenes. But Marcia’s hasty departure from the set means there’s room for other stories to take her place. That’s where James comes in. Marc Cherry decided to make some storyline changes and speed some things up. Says Denton, “Because we’re losing Marcia mid-season, that mystery has to wrap up pretty quickly because we need her. So, it’s kind of fun, because it got me out of jail quicker!” Good for you, James. Way to find the silver lining there.
