Actresses of the Week!!

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

Good morning, everyone!! Now that the new season is here, I’m bringing back my Actor/Actress of the week picks. It’s my way of spotlighting the actor(s)/actress(es) that I thought really stole the show each week. This week, it was pretty tough. Everyone did really well and I loved the stories going on. Still, there was one scene in particular where the people involved really got my attention.

Marcia Cross out and about.

The flashback scene where Danielle takes her baby back was one of the most surprising ones to me and it was well-acted by both Joy Lauren and Marcia Cross. You could just see the pain and desperation radiating off of Bree while begging Danielle not to go through with it. The follow up scene where Bree’s business is called her baby makes it even more moving to me, cause you could see that was so true. She threw herself into the work to make up for the new hole in her life. I’m just waiting to see how Bree explained the disappearance of “her” child to all the non-housewife neighbors.

Joy Lauren was also really good in the scene. She managed to show that while the character had grown up, she hadn’t really grown at all as a person. She still is selfish and cold, and didn’t really seem to have much concern for Bree. The cold way she said “you’re just gonna have to find someone else” was chilling to me. I’m just wondering why she’d want the baby back. Despite everything she said in the flashback, she jumped at the chance to be baby-less and fancy free in Florida.

So, there you have it: my two picks for the actresses who really stole the show for me, Marcia Cross and Joy Lauren. See y’all next time. Take care!

Joy Lauren preparing for “birth”

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Joy LaurenIf you may recall, Bree’s daughter Danielle is pregnant on “Desperate Housewives” and Bree is masquerading as the pregnant one.  Remember that?  It was a big deal in the finale (all those many months ago!).  So there is a birth in the future for actress Joy Lauren who plays Danielle on the show.  The 17 year old actress has never seen an actual birth or even been in the presence of one.  All she has to go on is what she’s seen on television and in movies.

“I was thinking of going on YouTube or something, but I’m afraid of what I’ll find,â€? Lauren, 17, told us at last night’s TMG International Style LA fashion show at the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica. “I’ve never been to a birth or seen one, so all I have to go on is movies and stuff like that. A friend of mine offered to take me to Lamaze class, and I was like, ‘No!’ â€?

Best of luck to her!  I think it’s awfully difficult to mimic labor and delivery unless you’ve actually been through it or at least been in it’s presence and it’s nice to hear that she’s actually trying her best to prepare for the “big moment”.
