Good morning, guys! Yesterday, there was some bad news regarding Nicollette that brought things down a little. Well, today we’ve got some happier news to discuss: casting and spoilers! Don’t worry… for the spoiler-free, all that info is going behind a cut. I’m a little annoyed, actually, cause I didn’t know there were going to be spoilers when I looked at the TV Guide article. But, since I’ve been spoiled on a few things, I figure why not share?

First… the non-spoilery stuff. The article has a picture of the new Scavo family, along with Carlos and the Solis daughters. They discuss how the twins that were cast are students at USC, and one actually hasn’t had previous acting experience. The other one were to an acting camp once attended by none other than Felicity! Cool, huh? Ricardo also discusses the story revolving around the Solis kids weight problems and how he’s a little concerned about how the girls will deal. Get the new TV Guide to see how the show is dealing with those concerns. As an added bonus, you’ll also get to see a picture of Ricardo with his real-life kids and get the details about his Monk appearance.

Is there something in the water on the set of Desperate Housewives, or has art just decided to imitate life for whatever reason? One day after bringing you the news of Kyle MacLachlan’s new arrival, another Desperate Husband has announced he’s added to his family. This time, it’s our very own Carlos Solis, Ricardo Antonio Chavira.

He and his wife, Marcea Dietzel, had a little girl on the 28th, according to Entertainment Tonight and US. The baby is named Belen Elysabeth Chavira and was a little over 7 pounds. I hate to say it, but Kyle won the baby name contest…. although there is something about that spelling of Elizabeth I like. The couple also has a five-year old son and have been married for about a year now. I find it kind of funny that cast members who have had baby stories on this show are now new parents. I’m not counting Marcia, since her real-life pregnancy was written into the script. Look out, Teri, Eva and James. Y’all might be joining the baby pool soon.

Seriously, though… congrats to the new parents and best wishes for a speedy return home with their baby. It must be quite an interesting time on the Housewives set. A new timeline, new cast members and new babies to boot! Between them and Marcia, I hope there’s a good day care on set. They definitely are in need of one. Well, I’m out of here for now. Hey, Housewives fans! I hope you guys had a great weekend and are as ready as I am to get back to talking our favorite show. First, I just want to say thanks to everyone who’s posted a comment lately and I look forward to getting to chat some more. Now… let’s dish, huh?

It’s been pretty quiet on the Housewives front the past few days. Hopefully that will start changing soon as the cast is scheduled to start filming today. Still, there are a couple of things going on. First off, continuing the Housewives tradition of getting involved in good causes, Teri Hatcher recently made a trip to Tanzania with her daughter to benefit Americashare. During their two week stay, the pair kicked off a penpal exchange with Emerson’s school as well as dropping off over 30 grand in supplies and donations. Talk about a productive trip! Americashare helps people in the area who are suffering from poverty as well as HIV/AIDS.

Teri isn’t the only do-gooder on the cast, though. Eva and Felicity, along with many other celebs, have come together in support of the “Burma- It Can’t Wait” campaign. The organization is working to secure the human rights of the people of Burma as well as its jailed would-be leader, Aung San Suu Kyi. Check out a video that features many celebs, including Felicity. On a lighter note, don’t forget to catch Ricardo on George Lopez if you haven’t seen it already. It will air on Nick at 10 PM on July 9th. I know I’ll be there! The Housewives aren’t the only desperate ones on Wysteria Lane. I thought it was time we highlighted some of the men on the block, starting with Carlos Solis himself, Ricardo Antonio Chavira.

I’d say Carlos is my favorite of the husbands on the show and Ricardo plays him perfectly. Take the scene where Carlos gets busted for beating up Justin because he thinks that Gabby was sleeping with him. When he finds out that Justin is actually gay, you can seriously see the headache he’s getting as he realizes the mess he’s just gotten himself into while he says “not again”. I also enjoyed the resignation and defeat in his voice as he tells the cop he wants his lawyer.

Carlos isn’t exactly the nicest of characters (just consider the scene above, plus the other times he turned to violence), but Ricardo manages to make him likeable no matter what trouble he’s getting himself into. And, being with Gabby, that’s plenty.

In real life, Ricardo is much more charitable than his TV counterpart. He’s been actively involved in supporting the fight against breast cancer. He was named captain of the “Race for the Cure” in 2005 and was also part of the Lee National Denim Day. For that one, he teamed up with fellow desperate husband James Denton to raise over 10 million for the cause. He was also honored for his work in the fight against AIDS by the Latino Commission. Not bad for someone who makes his career as a troublemaker.

Well this is happy news indeed! Ricardo Antonio Chavira confirmed himself on “Entertainment Tonight” monday evening that he and longtime girlfriend Marcea Dietzel were married in a small, private ceremony on September 22 in San Antonio, Texas. I’m assuming that’s her in the photo at the right there, but the photo credits simply said “Ricardo Antonio Chavira and Guest” so your guess is as good as mine. If it has slipped your mind somehow, Ricardo plays Carlos Solis on “Desperate Housewives”, ex-husband to Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle, and he has been dating Marcea for many years.  In fact, they have a 4 year old son between them, Thomas, who acted as a best man and ringbearer during the wedding.  It was a very informal affair, Chavira and Dietzel wore their pajamas during the ceremony and attended their son’s soccer game in liu of a wedding reception.  What a stark contrast to the fanfare and pomp and circumstance surrounding Eva Longoria’s wedding this last summer to Tony Parker!  Somehow, the smaller, more intimate wedding sounds a lot more romantic to me.  I wish Ricardo and Marcea the best of luck in the future and hope this is the beginning of a beautiful life together.  While Carlos seems to have nothing but women trouble on “Desperate Housewives”, obviously Ricardo has things under control and is a happy, happy man right now.  And Ricardo, way to keep things under wraps!  There are other celebrities who could take a page out of your book on how to keep the private things private!
