Episode 5X09: Me and My Town
Good morning, everyone. How about that episode last night? Now that is what I’m talking about. In case you missed it, don’t worry! I’m about to give you a run down. Let’s start off with Susan and work our way up to some of the better stuff, shall we?
Susan visits Mike in the hospital and suddenly realizes that he’s dating someone, but she doesn’t know who. She insists Mike has to tell her, but he refuses, saying that “she” wants to break the news. Now that Susan knows it’s a friend of hers, she spends most of the episode obsessing over who. The guessing game ends after Susan samples some cookies at Katherine’s house and realizes they’re the same exact ones she had in Mike’s hospital room. She then spends the rest of the episode upset with Katherine (and Bree, too, after she finds out Bree already knew). Bree tells her off and makes Susan realize she’s being unfair. Susan calls Katherine to apologize, but you can still see she’s not happy.
Lynette, meanwhile, is scared Porter might have started the fire. He had threatened Mr. Shilling right in front of her just before it started. Still, she refuses to admit as much to the police. She thinks they need to protect Porter no matter what. Tom doesn’t quite agree with that. Lynette later has a talk with Porter and asks him to come clean if he had anything to do with it. If he did, and is honest, she says they will help him. If he lies and she finds out about it, then they won’t be able to help him at all. He swears he had nothing to do with it and even comes clean to Lynette about having just called Anne, who won’t return his calls. He asks if Lynette has any idea where she is. Lynette then lies to Porter and says no, even though she just got back from taking Anne to the bus station. She’d given Anne some money and ordered her to leave or Lynette will press statutory rape charges. Anne agrees and admits to her own lie: there is no baby and never was.
Gabrielle is thrilled when she hears that an operation can be done to restore Carlos’ site. That is… until she remembers what she looks like now. She doesn’t want him to be disappointed and starts on a diet and exercise plan immediately. Her insecurities get even worse when she finds out the surgery will be in only a few days. She tries to stall, but Carlos won’t have that. Gabby eventually admits her fears to Carlos and he puts her mind at ease, telling her a story about when he first knew he wanted to be with her forever and tells her it had nothing to do with her looks.
Now, we have Bree. She’s discovered Orson is snoring very badly now after he suffered an injury in the fire. A simple procedure can fix it, but Orson doesn’t want to go along with it out of fear of surgery. In order to avoid it, he decides to put some sleeping medicine in Bree’s tea before bed. He stops her from drinking it, though, after finding out she took some sleeping pills. One problem- genius didn’t throw out the tea. Instead, he left it on the bedside table and Bree drinks it the next morning, getting her all nice and drugged up in time for her big cooking demonstration at the mall. She, naturally, completely humiliates herself and Orson is forced to go through with the surgery.
Last, but definitely not least, is Dave. He gets questioned by the cops at the hospital, but manages to play it pretty cool. Once he gets home and starts watching the news reports, you can see he’s clearly upset about all the innocent people that died in the fire. He even appears upset when he finds out Porter is considered a suspect. Still… he’s got an objective and he can’t worry about his conscience right now. He goes to the police and tells them he saw Porter in the back where the fire started.
There you have it. “Me and My Town”. So what did y’all think? Was it a good one? Are you disappointed? Share your thoughts in the comments below. Take care and I’ll see ya next time.
