Interview With a Producer
Good morning, everyone! Well, so far no storm has wrecked havoc like the Houseiwves had to deal with so, here I am! And I’ve got something cool to share. Writer/Producer Jeff Greenstein recently gave an interview with Blogcritics Magazine, an online publication. He didn’t give away any real spoilers (and I’m glad), but he did have some cool things to say.
Apparently, he’s a science geek who reads about string theory for fun and he spent some of the interview joking about the ladies going to work in hovercrafts and Tom fighting in a robot war since they’ve jumped into the future. I was surprised to learn that Housewives is not his only job. He has a few shows in development with ABC and only spends a few days a week working on our favorite show.
Part of the reason he refused to reveal any spoilers is because he feels it lessens the impact of the story telling. He uses the fact the jump into the future was leaked as an example of that. They tried hard to keep it under wraps, but we all know that it didn’t work out that way. He added, as others have, that the jump was a great way to renew everyone from the writers to the actors creatively and give them the chance to explore new lives of the characters without waiting until season 10 (a good thing, consider Marc Cherry says 7 is it.)
He also gave us a look into the writing process, saying that last season’s Mayfair mystery was all planned out from the start of the season and they work that way most years. A small group will come up with the main story and then send two writers off to make the script come to life. Notes and re-writes follow. He described it as being a mix of the hour-show process and the sitcom process.
Well, that’s about it for now… I’ll see ya next time with much more. You can catch the full interview here. Don’t forget to check out my fellow blogger LiRa’s latest Lost news as well… Jeff mentioned the show in his interview.
