Low ratings for latest “Desperate Housewives” episode
I don’t think this is horrible news, but it’s not good news either. “Desperate Housewives” garnered their lowest ratings ever in the show’s three year run on Sunday, causing CBS to win the time-slot. To be fair, Sunday was Easter and a lot of people probably haven’t had their minds on television. And if they did, they were watching the return of HBO’s “The Sopranos” (plus, it was an HBO free-preview weekend and I can attest to the fact that little else was watched in our home all weekend long) or catching the completely awesome “Planet Earth” miniseries on Discovery. However, these poor ratings are very disappointing, considering this is the first new “Desperate Housewives” episode to air in a little over a month. Everyone would expect that the viewers would be tuning in en-masse to catch the first new episode. The good news (if there is any) is that “Housewives” was still the highest rated show for it’s time-slot and the “sweet” age demographic (18-49). I just hope the ABC execs don’t look too deeply into this. “Desperate Housewives” is still a top-rated show and guaranteed viewers for the network.
