Madame Alexander’s “Desperate” dolls

The “Desperate Housewives” dolls by famed doll creator Madame Alexander have made their debut. Retailers are taking orders now and “the girls” will be in stores early this summer.
Regarding the dolls’ lack of resemblance to the actresses who portray the characters, Jane Abrahams the director of marketing for Madame Alexander says:
The “Desperate Housewives” dolls embody the qualities of the women of Wisteria Lane, though they are not meant to be replicas of the actresses. In fact, they are referred to as “non-dedicated sculpts.”
“It is the character and their great sense of fashion that our company wanted to bring to life.”
Well, that explains that. The dolls’ outfits were styled directly from outfits that were worn on the show, for that extra note of authenticity. These dolls are all about fashion. Want to learn more about each doll’s specific look? Read on below.
Bree Van De Kamp is the red haired, hazel-eyed character played by Marcia Cross. The character, known as a perfectionist, is represented by a doll that is meticulously dressed in a long, white gown with empire-style waist and silver shoes. Her accessories include earrings, bracelet and a brocade bag.The Edie Britt doll (the character played by blond-haired, blue-eyed Nicollette Sheridan) exhibits the character’s need to attract attention and is an eye-catcher wearing a bright orange above-the-knee dress with halter-style bodice with lace overlay and lace panels on the skirt, metallic sandals, dangling earrings, bracelet and matching clutch.
The Gabrielle Solis (the fiery Latina played by Eva Longoria) doll is dressed in an electric-blue spaghetti strap sheath with black lace at the neck line and white lace at the hem, with a gold wrap. The ensemble is complete with matching shoes and stunning blue drop earrings and matching necklace.
Lynette Scavo (played by Felicity Huffman), personifies the practical executive/housewife. Possessing business chic, the doll dons a no-nonsense black-on-black pinstripe pantsuit. She wears matching black shoes and purse. A coral-tone shirt adds a pop of color to her ensemble.
Susan Mayer (played by Teri Hatcher) is looked upon as the gentle soul. The down-to-earth diva doll features brown hair and eyes. She wears a chartreuse-colored, knee-length dress with sheer overdress. Her accessories include earrings and a clutch-style purse.
